4 Factions

Postby sprockitz » Wed Oct 17, 2007 2:10 pm

Whadda think about it?

I think it's the roxxor's. so many more enemies.

It's especially great for decreasing waits in the arena. And once the 4 are roughly equal size there will never be more than a very small wait for anyone.

And keep in mind you are only seeing them in action with arenas and missions right now.
In the end you will see them with arenas, missions, the map, the pit, the bank and tournaments. So the potential isn't even close to being reached with them yet.

My only concern is that with us even more divided up, we may see a lot more uneven missions if one side has a lot more active players at a certain time than others. But it definitely is fun to be a Maximal so far.

the extra factions could help this as well. If one faction has a bunch of people online they might end up splitting forces between fighting 3 factions while the other 3 have to focus on just fighting the one large faction.

BINGO.

Balance shouldn't be a huge issue if the game is well designed. Everyone can play and have a chance if the game is robust enough.

im really psyched for v2...renewed my interest in v1 (well at least as far as the discussion board aspect of it goes, since I never really stopped playing). Anyways, hope I don't burn myself out before v2 starts by pulling late nights playing hmw now when I should be resting and staying healthy for the launch and race out of the gates to get those first crucial upgrades asap.

It will be interesting to see missions where you work together, and missions where you work against one another... :-?

the thing i want to see about fighting between factions is how long it will take the AUTOBOTS/MAXI to goto war, being next door and all, they will compete more so than others for the same areas.

I'm bored, and need to kill time or i'll end up early for work.

Past and Future Collide
The civil war was taking it's toll on Cybertron, as Autobots and Decepticons continued the fight for dominance of their home planet. A fight that has gone one for millenia.

A fight that is tearing Cybertron apart, and now a new threat is facing Cybertron, a strange form of energy, washing across the planet reformatting select individuals into new beings, Maximals and Predacons.

Could this be the future of the Autobots and Decepticons?

With both sides desperate to end the war they must now face off against new and old enemies before it's too late for Cybertron.

At first I didn't like the idea of loosing some of my fellow Decepticons to the Preds, but now that I've goten used to it I think it's alright. Plus a 4 way battle will make the map aspect more interesting than if it was just the bots and cons going back and forth for all eternity.

OK. Here is the info you've all been waiting for. I'm far enough along now to where this information is accurate enough to share.

Deploying Troops:
To deploy a troop to a different area it will take on average 45 minutes to move one space on the planet. You cannot deploy a troop to an area an enemy controls BUT you can move troops THROUGH enemy areas if they do not have force fields equipped on their territories.

Attacking an enemy faction:
if the territory you are deployed in IS NOT controlled by a faction you can launch campaigns against enemy troops within that territory.

If a territory is controlled by an enemy faction you must launch attacks on that territory from adjacent territorys and the ruling faction will have to defend.

The ONLY troops in a controlled territory will be troops from the controlling faction.

CAMPAIGNS:
There can be no more than 4 active battles going on at one time in a territory. If there are only 2 open campaigns going on you can either start a new one to spread the enemy thin or join an open one to reinforce a battle. Strategically you decision to start battles or join battles could be key in your faction picking up points in a territory.

Faction Control:
A faction controls a territory when it controls 80% of the territory's possible points. When a faction controls a territory there are 3 main perks:
1. You are given a set amount of that territory's minicon population to use in battle.
2. Your faction's economy earns energons during the time that territory is controlled. (The amount of energon depends on the importance of the territory).
3. Your XP gains increase by 25% for all SUCCESSFUL campaings defending the territory.

Extra Goodies:
1. Force Fields - Bought by your faction's commander with the faction's account and deployed to controlled territories. They are very expensive but keep enemy troops from moving through the territory.
2. Turrets - Bought by your faction's commander with the faction's account and deployed to controlled territories. Take the place of a troop for defesive purposes when a faction is outnumbered defending a territory.

well i can say this 99.9% of games with bonuses for holding areas, some get greedy and attack the closest area they don't control for the simple reason it will be easier to hold, being next door to someone, even being allies a time will come where one side will want something the other has and take it,history is full of these events.

So what happens if one faction controls the entire map and shields everything? They win?

Just so the "faction" topic in this thread doesn't get hijacked.

Well okay a teeny tiny part of me would like to see if it could crash the server and give OS a headache.

But it's outweighed by the potential fun to be had!

Can you yourself manually generate them?

If you can we could probably schedule a time so people know when to be on thus ensuring maximum turn out.

I'll throw in some cannon fodder if extra bodies are needed, I'll gladly bow out though if 10 high level 'cons get in on it. As fun as it would be to be in that, I'd much rather not hurt the con's chances of winning.
