I guess it's a good thing nobody applies this line of thinking to religious beliefs... #-o

All I know is if I'm ever faced in real life with the stuff in video games, I'll probably be the first to go-

Wrong. It's not insulting your intelligence, you just get mad at your own failure. I'm actually the same way.

Dude, I don't know what games you've been playing but I seriously doubt that would ever be an issue.

Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Mass Effect.

But think about it, are these games really that far off from reality? It's possible that 2012 could be a cover up for something bigger. It's definitely possible for there to be a nuclear war. And it's possible for us to make contact with other life forms in the universe who want to kill us all!

Hope you don't mind if I put my 2 cents in, but I'm just like you and Shadowman in the respect of getting frustrated at losing/failing at something but then again, we all are to some degree or another. Don't sweat it as far as the games are concerned and whether or not your accomplishment on said games is a reflection on how you will perform in a real life situation. Your sub-conscious KNOWS it's just a game and therefore will not allow you to consciously perform at 100% because it's not necessary to. It knows it's just a game despite the fact that you have a very conscious desire to win. When the sh** hit's the fan in real life, you will most certainly react totally different to whatever that situation is than you would to a game, this much I can guarantee you. Going into a situation where you know you may not come out alive has a way of totally shifting your perspective on things. Just promise me you'll try to not stress over it. 8)

As for the whole underlying theme of this thread, I have to say that I am very glad, after having read all 5 pages, to see a thread like this one and to see that it is going so smoothly and so well thought out. I have to admit that on several occasions (and I'm sure Josh and Burn will attest to this) I allowed myself to get sucked into such heated debates that I thought for sure that I was going to be one of those who would be either banned or at the very least taken out back and had the **** kicked out of me. I defended my opinion too harshly at times until I finally just stepped back and saw that I was giving others to much control over me by letting them anger me. In the end, it was all just words, just opinions. Everyone has one and everyone likes to think theirs is the most important one but EVERYBODY sees things just a little bit differently. That's why I haven't posted near as much this last year as I normally would have. It's not that I didn't have an opinion, I just chose to enjoy my own opinion unblemished in my mind and not put it out there where someone on an ego trip would stomp it into the proverbial dirt. However, seeing what has gone on in this particular thread, I may just put it out there a little more often since I know there are some more like minded individuals (that's almost an oxymoron, isn't it?) to hang with.

Every now and then you'll get someone that takes exception to a warning you've issued on them or their thread you locked. The majority of people accept things, but there's always the odd one.

Best one I had is a fellow Australian, he was banned from an Australian TF fansite (for abusing and threatening other members) and banned from here (for abusing other members). But because i'm a member of both sites i've been drawn into the various conflicts, even though there were times I had nothing to do with his latest banning! It got to the point he was going to take things to the Police and claim cyber-harrassment against myself and staff at the Australian site, even though he was the one who constantly violated the forum rules.

Back to "thetruefan", I do find it funny that none of the initial pm to me was posted, thus making my reply look completely out of context.

Remember that folks, there's always two sides to a story, I just have better things to do. I think most of you know that I can be a bastard and a dick, but I can also be very respectful of others.

I've seen my fair share of them too, just glad I've never had to deal with them on that level. Seibertron.com is one of the few sites I regular, each day usually. Otherwise I'm usually lucky enough to avoid the ones that just don't get things.

Even without your initial post (which, I agree, would have put things into context) his reply, both it's long-windedness and, how should I say, sporadic thinking made him look even more out than there you did b saying what you had initially.

But back to the topic, I'd just like to commend Capt.Failure for being fairly level headed in your posts here, and I'm glad you recognize the issue that both extremes bring about. It's great to have you as a member of the forums, and I hope you continue to make such contributions. I really feel about the same as you do on the whole issue. Great thread.

Okay, now I'm fairly certain you're joking here. Nothing you could learn in ANY of those games could POSSIBLY help you in day-to-day life. "press Y to reload your gun" does not actually teach you how to properly load, aim, and use a firearm. Nothing in those games are the slightest bit realistic.

And while we're at it, 2012 is a conspiracy theory that the world will end because it's also the end of the Mayan Calender, reasoning the Mayans "predicted" it and thus didn't continue their calender any further. It's based on shaky logic and poor research. Also, based on bad interpretations of an ancient civilization that thought that ritualistic human sacrifice would make the Sun happy. people have been predicting the end of the world for millennia, and not one of them has been any right.

I freaking hate it when people try to give credit to the "2012 is the end of the world" crap.

The Mayans never even said 2012 was the end of the world. They just said a new beginning would take place. If you ask me, I think they where visited by aliens, and they told them the day that they would be back, and that calendars are just counting down to the date of their return. I don't think anything REALLY bad is gonna happen. But it would make my day if we where invaded by aliens.

(And I'm pretty sure that in most games, reload is either square, "x", or "R". Just sayin.)

That's even worse logic. "Alien visitors" is not a reasonable explanation for anything, ever. Hell, I believe there's alien life elsewhere in the universe, and I think it's nuts.

Probably should have mentioned I have all the dvd's as well. Oh well, I'll just have to validate my own fanism seeing as some troll (oh, he didn't know what a troll is either) won't validate it for me. :-(

Mr. froneyzone hadn't heard of "GeeWunner" (or GeeWun) either, and he thought I was some illiterate drop-out that meant to say "genuine".
And why should we have to validate and defend our own fanism? What the heck do we do to invalidate ourselves? Apparently there's some sort of Transformers Constitution or Scripture that states specific laws that we all must follow (writers, artists, animators, producers, and directors included) or else we get "non-true fans" and "non-true Transformers".
Stuff like: Frenzy is red and Rumble is blue, TF must always be anime because it was always meant to be (G1 wasn't though), TFs can only reach a certain level in design complexity before they're not real TFs, you have to be an "80's kid" to be a true fan, you have to have over a certain number of toys to be a true fan, you have to be a G1 expert to be a true fan, you have to have unlimited hate for Michael Bay's TF work and the related continuity and you must have unlimited hate for Animated to be a true fan, you must melt down movieverse dvds?, G1 is the only "real" component of TF, and so on.
This all a load of...Bullshovik...and a slagging load of slag.

The Sixth Sense. Now wut?

Seriously though, thanks for the warm welcome. I try my best to be a respectful, level headed individual even with the things I can't stand. Glad to see I dropped in on some forums that are rational sans a few bad apples, but I imagine Burn has nukes aimed at their accounts with his finger over the "frak you" button.

Actually...

Have you seen Super Robot Taisen OG: Divine Wars?

Because that's pretty much what happens (to start the series, I've only seen the first episode so far), in which case I'm counting on all the gamers out there to save my can in real giant mechs that are controlled just like the games you play. :P

Watch the Punisher starring Thomas Jane. He uses a knife gun. Looks like a normal knife, but then the blade shoots out and kills a guy.

"True fans" are indeed impossible, though. Believing it IS requires a superiority complex and an ego the size of a small moon.

The problem with "true fans" is you'll never measure up to their standards. Makes it a very lonely existance within the fanbase in that regard.

Fan A: I like The Guy!
Fan B: True fans like Stinko-man!
Fan C: I like Stinko-man too! :D
Fan B: Do you like him before the events of Season 12?
Fan C: Umm..no?
Fan B: Not a true fan. GTFO!

I dont call my self a fan I just love transformers I been with it sense day 1 when I was 5 years old. I am fixing to be 30 later on this year which marks my 25th anniversary of being with transformers.

I love the product, I love the story I love the mythology of transformers.

I am one of the few who actually liked both films even though ROTF was dorky it was still a decent flick.

I also liked animated been awesome if animated would went on beyond season 3 even more awesome if season 3 gets the dvd set but that is never going to happen cause of legal issues.

I love transformers I dont call my self a fan I just love the product cause i grew up with it. Like I grew up with Wrestling such as WCW, WWF, ECW and others I dont call my self a fan I just liked watching it also I had no set favorite wreslters cause wrestlers switch sides so much one minute they are a face then next they are a heel.

I just love watching it same way with Transformers I have no set favorite transformers I like them all but I dislike some of them just as equally.

On 2012 who can say will it be Armageddon, will it mark the year we make 1st contact with Alien Life. Will we make the next step in our evolution. Or will it simply be another day on the calender. If you also remember in 2012 solar activity is suppose to be really high also in 2013 as well I dont mean to scare people just stating some facts.

Nothing is known about 2012 but it is something to worry about but i am not worried about it right now as I am happy for 2011 ans 2012 is still 2 years away.

But that's fine, I know you don't like giving me attention. I can handle that. I've already had my fanism invalidated this week, why not crush my spirit a little more? [-(

What? Nonsense, I totally highlighted the velociraptors, you were all over that. Tiss awesome :APPLAUSE:

The RC Pterodactyle was awesome though, I remember seeing it again on 3 2 1 Contact, an old PBS show. I also liked how they got that gal from Breakfast Club to play the gal pal. Not Molly, the other gal from Breakfast club.

Long live the 80's

You kids and your not knowing things.

1337 (pronounced "leet" short for "elite") is a method of writing, using numbers and symbols rather than letters. Sort of like the shorthand used in texting, but to a much higher degree. It was used as a method of getting around swear and word filters, since all but the most well-thought-out filters don't even think to prepare for it. Eventually, like many internet memes, it degraded massively and very few people used it. Those that did either did so facetiously, or because they were too damn stupid to type out a legible sentence. Nowadays, it's sort of a symbol for internet stupidity.

Or at least that's how I understood it. This is the internet, after all, every meme origin you've heard is probably wrong, and the fifty origins other people claim are right, are probably also wrong.

EDIT: Here's a TVtropes article. and for what it's worth, here's a Wikipedia article.

And 1337W422102, I do not mean any offense when I say it's a symbol of internet stupidity. We're still cool, right? Right?! Oh God, put the rifle down!!
