SlyTF1 wrote:They emotionally scar me, because it insults my intelligence. If it's my favorite movie and the whole world hates it, that means I have a problem. Or either every one else has a problem. Same thing with losing video games. When I lose, I get pissed off and blow stuff up, because it insults my intelligence. If I can't beat the game on the first try, how the hell do you think I'll do in real life if I'm faced with a similar task?

Wrong. It's not insulting your intelligence, you just get mad at your own failure. I'm actually the same way.SlyTF1 wrote:If I can't beat the game on the first try, how the hell do you think I'll do in real life if I'm faced with a similar task?
Dude, I don't know what games you've been playing but I seriously doubt that would ever be an issue.
Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Mass Effect.
But think about it, are these games really that far off from reality? It's possible that 2012 could be a cover up for something bigger. It's definitely possible for there to be a nuclear war. And it's possible for us to make contact with other life forms in the universe who want to kill us all!

Every now and then you'll get someone that takes exception to a warning you've issued on them or their thread you locked. The majority of people accept things, but there's always the odd one.
Best one I had is a fellow Australian, he was banned from an Australian TF fansite (for abusing and threatening other members) and banned from here (for abusing other members). But because i'm a member of both sites i've been drawn into the various conflicts, even though there were times I had nothing to do with his latest banning! It got to the point he was going to take things to the Police and claim cyber-harrassment against myself and staff at the Australian site, even though he was the one who constantly violated the forum rules.
Back to "thetruefan", I do find it funny that none of the initial pm to me was posted, thus making my reply look completely out of context.
Remember that folks, there's always two sides to a story, I just have better things to do. I think most of you know that I can be a bastard and a dick, but I can also be very respectful of others.

Okay, now I'm fairly certain you're joking here. Nothing you could learn in ANY of those games could POSSIBLY help you in day-to-day life. "press Y to reload your gun" does not actually teach you how to properly load, aim, and use a firearm. Nothing in those games are the slightest bit realistic.
And while we're at it, 2012 is a conspiracy theory that the world will end because it's also the end of the Mayan Calender, reasoning the Mayans "predicted" it and thus didn't continue their calender any further. It's based on shaky logic and poor research. Also, based on bad interpretations of an ancient civilization that thought that ritualistic human sacrifice would make the Sun happy. people have been predicting the end of the world for millennia, and not one of them has been any right.
I freaking hate it when people try to give credit to the "2012 is the end of the world" crap.
SlyTF1 wrote:The Mayans never even said 2012 was the end of the world. They just said a new beginning would take place. If you ask me, I think they where visited by aliens, and they told them the day that they would be back, and that calendars are just counting down to the date of their return.
SlyTF1 wrote:I don't think anything REALLY bad is gonna happen. But it would make my day if we where invaded by aliens.

That's even worse logic. "Alien visitors" is not a reasonable explanation for anything, ever. Hell, I believe there's alien life elsewhere in the universe, and I think it's nuts.

Burn wrote:Yeah, apparently even though I grew up in the 80's with TF's, have a collection of over 1000 figures spanning G1 to Reveal the Shield, a lot of Japanese exclusives, an extensive UK comic collection ... I lack the "passion" to be a "true fan".
Probably should have mentioned I have all the dvd's as well. Oh well, I'll just have to validate my own fanism seeing as some troll (oh, he didn't know what a troll is either) won't validate it for me.
JetOptimus23 wrote:This will all end in blood, i know it!
Please! True Fanism can never be acheived! It's as impossible as the Knife gun or a good M. Night Shamalan movie.

Shadowman wrote:"True fans" are indeed impossible, though. Believing it IS requires a superiority complex and an ego the size of a small moon.

Only to derail further into real world skills obtained through video games?![]()
And there's only one true example of how that may pertain to the real world....via the movie
"War Games"
But alas, that was back in the 80's.
..SHALL...WE...PLAY....A-GAME?

But that's fine, I know you don't like giving me attention. I can handle that. I've already had my fanism invalidated this week, why not crush my spirit a little more?

Is it good or bad that I have no idea what that means? (Then again, I never got "1337" for the longest time either...)

You kids and your not knowing things.
1337 (pronounced "leet" short for "elite") is a method of writing, using numbers and symbols rather than letters. Sort of like the shorthand used in texting, but to a much higher degree. It was used as a method of getting around swear and word filters, since all but the most well-thought-out filters don't even think to prepare for it. Eventually, like many internet memes, it degraded massively and very few people used it. Those that did either did so facetiously, or because they were too damn stupid to type out a legible sentence. Nowadays, it's sort of a symbol for internet stupidity.
Or at least that's how I understood it. This is the internet, after all, every meme origin you've heard is probably wrong, and the fifty origins other people claim are right, are probably also wrong.
