I notice that the rules between Con and Bot tournaments differ; is that intentional?

Very much so - the first elimination is complete.

Go here (viewtopic.php?f=201&t=46597) to get a view of the progress though - and feel free to banter / harass in the General Discussion form here (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=46458).

Also - there's always next time. I'd recommend spending the energon early to build your team out to 12 members to help prepare.
