I entered Metalia into the the Ambush the Judge mission by accident, and I came back to find that we lost, but Metalia gained 4,000 xp! I was able to instantly upgrade her 2 times, but I'm still confused about what happened. I entered Spiderbot in a while back, but we lost, and Spiderbot didn't get squat for xp!

The answer is simple: When a LV 0-1 lands a hit on a LV 6 Sharkticon or a LV 8 Judge (Primus willing), the XP gains are multiplied substanitally. So it's likely there's no glitch, Metalia just managed to land a lucky hit, and Spiderbot didn't!

xp is nat based on winning or losing, it's based on damage.

for each percent damage you get xp=2^level of the target

so beating up a judge whose level 8 will net 256xp for every 1% you damage it.

Exactly. So losing the mission can sometime mean you spend an hour in the CR and your Victory percentage will decrease.

the damage you deal(or repair), there's also a bonus for winning the mission, and for each attack avoided nets you 50xp

got it. Metalia actually got TWO lucky hits on the Judge. I'm guessing 8% damage for the first hit, and maybe 5 for the second. But then she was killed by the Sharkticon, in one hit from it's mighty jaws.
