The wouldn't need to be hosted on Seibs as they could be integrated into the signature. If anyone didn't know how to, or didn't have the ability to do so I could help with that.

I know about the implementing it in a current sig (example, Raphael Prime) but people change sigs and if it were small icons below a signature (merit badges) people would be able to click the picture/hyperlink and see the results in a thread. that saves a lot of time explaining what the picture is for all the time.
If you're talking adding it beneath a larger pic in a person's sig, that would violate the whole "one image per sig" rule, regardless of how tiny it is.
Though it would be the best way to go about things.
I wonder if it would be possible to use the empty space under the posting player's information on the left side for something of this nature.
**Edit** or even provide a second area underneath the signature area for this purpose.

Alternatively, since the ribbons are small, the ribbon can be placed overtop the signature. This can be accomplished through a variety of HTML tricks - or just by hosting another sig version with the ribbon overlay.

I think the best example is the Apolyton.net message board where tourney ribbons are placed under the user info on the left. it IS a mod affair however.
per example: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.p ... adid=26248
linking to user groups/ribbons.
Since we're not running with avatars anymore, this would be a viable replacement and an incentive to get forum goers to play hmw to get their "personality" back

That example is what I was thinking but just below the poster's information.

[quote="Mogwai Prime"]With the maximal tournaments in the past I made ribbons for 1st-3rd places. I would be willing to make them again for different tournaments if you guys would be interested here are some of the past ribbons.

I had an idea like this for the tournaments I'll run. I was thinking metals and the more you collect the higher your rank. Similar to the military. I just havent have had the time to make anything since Electron won.

personally, i don't mind placing any and all badges on my sig, even if i happen to change it in the future, doesn't take me long at all to do it. And you can always resize the image yourself to make it fit the sig better.

I need to double check but there may be a way around this, although Im not sure how workable it is currently; You are allowed extra images if they are hosted here, (remember the 'save the tiefighter/dragon/etc. sigs from a while back?) so if the medal .gifs can be hosted in a section of the alts database they could be added to sig's without interfering with the artwork.
Just an option for the future, but Im loving the rest of the ideas here.

can't you use the attach feature to attach a picture to a post? then it's hosted here right?

I just tried and I don't think the file upload is working.
But could someone care to explain the benefits of the images being hosted on the Seibertron.com server as opposed to say, Photobucket?
As a viewer, i'm going to use the same bandwidth to download all the images regardless of what site they're on.
And we always hear about server strain and the cost of bandwidth, so to me, it would be a more viable and beneficial option for the user to upload to their own host and save the hard drive space and bandwidth (as miniscule one image may be it would add up) of Seibertron.com?
Or am I just missing the real reason behind it all?

Hit count? I'm not sure exactly. IMHO I think it would be better that way for the site itself. We already host our own Sigs, I don't know why we couldn't host these badges/ribbons ourselves. The only other reason I can think of is to have them automatically attached somewhere outside of player control. I think in that respect it would be easier to host them on the site.

Im not 100% certain myself, but from a server capacity perspective, Im told the extra picture loading cuts into server memory/speed, but if they are hosted here the additional memory required is minimal.Either way it's a legal route to getting extra stuff put in sigs, and if we get told off we can just blame Mkall.

Re: Tournament Ribbons
images hosted on seibs ARE going to affect it's bandwidth (cost)
It will also add a bit of time to page generation (which can already be slow on seibs)
photobucket (or crappy sites like that) sometimes limit the bandwidth per picture (hence, the empty photobucket tags in some threads)
tags would be placed in your browser cache and would only be loaded once a week or so (for normal browsing) or, when a user sets it's options, more often.
however, the argument of extra bandwidth for seibertron.com is void seen how some extra images were placed on EVERY SINGLE PAGE on seibertron (shaded background, shadow/bot silhouettes and the city commander upgrade. If the bandwidth was an issue, those wouldn't be there.

I think we will have to wait and see how the powers that be decide to handle this issue. For now players that win them can integrate them into their sigs if they choose that way it doesn't break any site rules and for now makes any bandwidth issues moot.
Does anyone have any requests for a tournament ribbon/badge that they are running? I know tammuz already made one for her tourney.

Excellent Mr. Prime. Probably going to need a few. Top scorers for each 'day' and the overall top. Maybe something with a Matrix on it.
You know, this being a leader thing is pretty easy. I come up with a idea then outsource work to others willing to do it.

By "day" you mean week in hooman time I'm assuming? Do you just need top place for each week or will you need a 1st-3rd? Will you need a 1st-3rd for the overall or just top finisher?
Would you like separate designs for each week and for the overall? I also have an idea for a way to do them in the military ribbon style and still have a way to distinguish between the separate places. I'll put up a template for here in a little bit
While I understand that everyone wants to do it a different way, I think we should all come together with a agreed upon template to make it uniform for everyone.

Each tournie day will run 5 days in fleshie time. That should give everyone a good chance of scoring some points and stuff.
As for how many we need... I'm not sure... Top killer for each day/week from the winning is going to get possession the matrix. So... I have no idea. *L* That's a good question. Maybe one for who gets the matrix, and one for the top on the other side... I dunno. I just want a ribbon. *L*

Ribbon templates with Placement:
