Activision: ROTF To Have Large 'Downloadable Content'

MTV.com- According to sources at MTV.com, the structure and marketing for the ROTF game includes a very large DLC (downloadable content) plan. What does that mean for us?

It could mean many new downloadable character skins for G1, or other era characters that can be used in the ROTF movie adaptation.

"An Activision representative told me that the company has a “healthy DLC [downloadable content] plan which will incorporate more characters.” This is part of Activision’s intent to offer the largest Transformer character ever seen in a game based on the franchise. I didn’t ask, but it is likely that many of these new characters would be offered as paid DLC rather than as free. That’s been the business model employed successfully by Activision and other publishers for new content in “Guitar Hero,” “Rock Band,” “Halo” and more.
The Activision rep wouldn’t tell me which characters from which era of the toy line’s history would be available — nor, I realize now, did I clarify if the DLC was for the PS3/360 version only or also for the Wii, PC and portable versions – but that’s where the guessing can come in."

So not a lot is known about what exactly the DLC will be for this game, but it sounds like it may be impressive. But it also sounds like we may be needing to pry open our wallets to be able to play as some of our favorite characters.

If Wii had d/l content and the list is actually pretty robust, than I'll consider it.

Otherwise.. meh...

The way it usually goes the 360 is going to get it all and the PS3 is going to get screwed. If thats the case again i might not even buy the game cause im sick of that crap. Hopefully activision will be smart and put DLC on every thing.

Largest character? Do they mean that by toy-wise (Fort Max, Movie Devastator) or fiction-wise (Unicron, Primus, Hytherion)?

New video of interviews with Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Shia Lebouf, and Megan Fox. Also some footage of some pretty huge explosions. Enjoy.

I don't care how big or how awesome the DLC will be. I just want the gameplay to be fun and enjoyable to replay. The first movie game was just... you want to finish the game and get over with it already.

I'd be OK with an ROTF DLC if there was a combination of paid and free content like there is for Street Fighter 4.

Please keep this on topic. THis post belongs in the movie forum unless it particularly pertains to the game, and more importantly the DC. Thanks.

thats not always true spiderman web of shadows for the wii edition only that game version only had downloadable contnet for the wii for differnt tpyes of costumes only fo spiderman ps3 & xbox did not have any downlaodable content for the game.

but yes i do agree with yourstatment xbox & wii are always the ones that get that stuff & ps3 i to would like it if all ssytems would have that option for free possibly.

playing as devastor would be fun limited by weapons & moves but fun to play as if it is possible, or the fallen with the trasnporting thing he does inth film we saw in the trailer, as long they dont give us useles crappy characters to play as wheelie, scrapnel, maybe human or 2 bigger the bots the better.

if they activision was smart for each version of the game you buy wii version gets dlc to play with differnt skins, ps3 version one hit kills when playing in story mode, xbox g1 versions of some characters or soemthign along those lines

i think they meant "largest amount of characters" or "largest character roster" although i did read a rumor somewhere you may be able to play as devastator in some capacity.
