I can't say I have any more respect for him, but I never disrespected the man to begin with. I'm fine with him doing his work as is.

I will say I have to give him credit for doing this and getting it on the big screen. A lot of people wouldn't have touched it with a million foot pole, and he finally went in, head first.

Came out to be a major winner in the end.

To be honest, I had more respect for Bay after I saw the movie for the first time.

Since, I wavered on him in his consistant flip floping of statements, but whatever...

As for the special features and Bay, well to be honest, I got the Target case yesterday, watched the movie itself 3 times now, and have yet to touch disc 2.

But as for respecting Bay in the area of special features, after taking with friends that have rented the single disc and hearing both here and in the real world that disc 1 doesn't even have a comentary...

well, no, I have no respect for Bay in this matter. IF he realy cared, he would have given at least that much to his product as apose to a FU to anyone else who shelled out the bare minimum for this film.

After all his talk about how "EVERYONE" should be abile to enjoy his film after the Blu-Ray fiasco...

Reguardless of previous statment, Bay is just a check cashing shlub!

I would have to say that yes, I do have more respect for Michael Bay after seeing the documentaries on disc 2 of the Transformers special edition disc (the Target 'transforming' one, to those who might be curious). Of course, once I saw the movie for the first time on July 4th, I had pretty much already formed the opinion that Michael Bay did a good job in directing this soon-to-be cinema classic. You have to admit, he is good at blowing **** up. ...and any 'good' Transformers movie needs to have that element to it. Yes, the dialogue definitely had it's 'cheesier than thou' moments and Jon Voight, to me, was a bad casting call, but overall I've got to give Michael Bay props where props are due.

I have to say, he's a hard man to work for, but he does bring results. You know if they hire him, he's going to see it all the way through. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Thing is, even as abrasive and hardcore as he can be...even the ones who didn't see eye to eye with him during the process, still had nothing bad to say about him after.

That...is a testament to the man and his powerful force.

For those of you who have the special features...is it my imagination or did Bay take credit for creating Frenzy? I noticed they show the original G1 versions of all the other characters but not Frenzy. I understand them replacing Soundwave because they felt the character wasn't working out the way they wanted but the comments Bay makes sounds like he's taking credit for creating an entirely new character.

He takes credit, but I think it was more in terms of design, rather than the character itself.

Agree as well, def. more respect as a filmmaker. He does appear to be a hard-ass on the set, and he clearly has a huge ego, but it doesn't seem to dominate him. He looks like a fun guy to hang around after a day of shooting, as long as there's no shop talk. Good sense of humor too.

He doesn't seem like a prima donna on the set, either, there were lots of scenes of him getting right up in the action scenes and covered in exploded stuff and whatnot. Good for him, and for us too!

Oh yeah. In fact, if you watch the special features on Circuit City's website, you'll see a clip of him talking about the guns on the battleship that they used in Pearl Harbor. He was one deck beneath Cuba Gooding Jr., filming the battle scene and Cuba was firing the cannon right above him. Bay said he thought his head was going to explode.

Now that's in your face film making right there.

O_o...bwa? Someone on here said they listened to it while watching the film.

Hmm. Well, it does seem feasible. I've not noticed a commentary mentioned anywhere other than that post, and I think one page on Amazon.

Great...now I have to go check. lol

EDIT: I'm back. With info. (BTW, you suck Evilmus. My OCD kicked in and I had to go check. :P)

Some of the explainations, like for the kind of semi, for the flames, for the lack of the truck being entirely red, all made much more sense with in depth explainations from a film point of view.

I never had a problem with Bay to begin with.

I think the special features of the movie are absolutely incredible. I am gaining an incredible appreciation for the effort and great work all of these people put into making our movie, including Michael Bay. Everyone seems really passionate about the whole experience. I'm really impressed. I also think it's pretty cool every time I see Michael Bay or the other people working on the movie wearing something that has the Autobot or Decepticon symbols on it. Michael Bay didn't need to do that. He could've easily worn a made up robot shirt (such as "giant f'ing robots are coming") or something non-specific and director like.

The DVD folks did a really nice job on their end as well. The HD DVD in particular is absolutely phenomenal. I'm on day 3 of trying to watch different things on the DVD. The HU display mode is really awesome to watch as a diehard Transformers fan. I'm so glad that I invested in an HD DVD player and HD TV for this movie.

If I recall correctly, it's audio option #5. I kept pressing the audio button on my DVD controller until it came up with choice 5 which was also called "English", but it had the commentary.
