May as well say it here too, Ask Mkall or Alpha to sticky it for the duration of the hunt.

Just thinking about Psychout's idea for a "golden alt" ... what do people think about an alt being added for a few hours during the hunt with bonus points for those who get it?

Its not a bad idea but a little unfair to those that are at work or sleeping at the time. Could do it a different few hours each day though.

24 hour rotating rare alt? I donno some might stay up just to whack them as much as possible, I would think, like 4 hours one day 4 hours later on the next and so on. They could still try to aim to get each one but would be limited to the time frame, giving others a chance. I think.

Well if Glyph doesn't have the time, then I think whom ever decides to put on the hunt could find a rare alt and at the specified time post it so those plaing know what to look for for that 4 hours. I am sure there would be someone to help out and post the rare alt when the runner is in bed.

I'll refraine from making any Harry Potter references about the Golden Alt Mode...

As for other comments:
Story: Having a story is always good for any of the tournaments that we do. It establishes a History for HMW and makes our Characters grow in owr own little Transformers Universe here.

Targets: I think the number of targets and the variety of them was perfect this time around. It ensures that there is always something to look for.

Length: Two weeks was good for this one since there were plenty of people playing. If you try to do one this long close to a holiday or the like it can get tedious. Especially for people with slow connections. (BTW, something I don't have to worry about anymore!) Also, if there were a way to find out what mission/arena # is the first official one of the hunt, it would help those that come in later to know how far back they can go in their logs.

Scoring: To avoid frustrations that QS was expressing, maybe find some system to count assists.

The best thing about not having Glyph automatically track the scores - you don't have to wait forever for the results!

I suppose Glyph wouldnt have to be involved if between us we all agreed on 1 rare alt and coloured it ourselves - only risk being that we cant control the colours the rest of the players used (nor would we want to) so there is bound to be a clash somewhere.

In the past I had labelled a specific misison as the start, but that was as much because the tite was relevant more than aything else. Its a good idea for future additions though.

Who said anything about colours? It'd just be an alt. No colours. One that isn't already being hunted.

Psychout, upon being taken to literally, reaises he should have wrote:On second thoughts we dont have to get Glyph to 'add in' a specific alt all we need to do is nominaite an extra alt as a bonus ourselves, but we cant always guarantee that that alt wont be changed or prevent another (somehow) changing to it.
Mixed metaphor, my bad.

The thing that I can add is that I probably won't participate again. It was fun, but when the Autobots started switching their alts, going Action Master, or just plain hiding their characters with the hunted alts the sport of it went to dung.

I can take having my characters not finish off an alt and have one of my fellow Decepticons swoop in for the kill. I can handle that, but it's when people are so hellbent on destroying the fun for OTHERS that they do these weak tactics (hiding, benching, switching) so that they can ensure that they get kills on those that play normally. Granted, there was no ruling or guideline stating that you couldn't switch alts, hide alts, bench alts, or action master--but it's the spirit of the game.

I'm beating a dead horse here, so I'll quit.

I did like the storyline behind it. Very thorough and planned out. The scoring was easy to spot, once I figured out a method to finding my kills. I think that having one of the mods sticky the Claims thread would have been nice, but not necessarily necessary (ha!). Simple things help for the casual player. Simple things also help for the dial-up player too!

Why do u say the bots?, ppl has done it and this wasnt the first time, but it is not a matter of the bots, im sure u cant say the cons didnt change to avoid being targets, therefore say that the bots or the cons decided to change their alts its not fair, its better to say some hmw players did.

Personally i didnt notice that a lot of players, apart from being bot or con did that change, maybe a few, even though generalize is a bit out of place.

In my case i reseted all my troops after the xmas tourney, when this alth hunt wasnt ready, or at least posted.

Alright, though I didn't actually play I did have a few that were hunted. I did leave them with the older alt for that reason. True the new alts did have an effect, and the forum delete did mess with the story I think over all it went well. Things I think would impove it... the stickied thread, and the addition of the special alt. I think those two things would make the most difference. I have become acustum to having a story line for most things, I think it helps to add more depth, and if you can use HMW players TFs names its gives it a bit of a personal feel.

All and all I think it did well.

Like I said before, I don't know how much of a problem that is. But I would hope that introducing bonus points for hunted alts killing hunted alts would help stem that a little.

I doubt it could be stopped entirely and i'm pretty sure everyone would be against locking alts in during the hunt. So we won't even bring that idea up for further discussion!

Also introducing the a target at random with even more bonus points would not only increase the fun a bit, but also make it harder for people to switch out.

I did like the storyline behind it. Very thorough and planned out.

No it wasn't. Believe me it wasn't. The core part was written when half asleep, the alt revelations and the final bit were written on the spot with no editting.

Deja vu? I seem to recall you and I having a conversation where the roles were reversed and I was commending your work and you weren't happy with it. One day you and I will agree.

Simple things also help for the dial-up player too!

Like the counter!

I know I know, don't keep bringing it up. :P

So let me ask you this QS, Glyph and Ryan get the whole support staff thing up and running, the counter is fully integrated, someone like myself or -Soundwave- have access to it, we pick the alts (or whoever's organising it tells us), load 'em up, implement the bonus kills and also the rare alt system ... not to mention a nice storyline. Would that get you back hunting?

Another wicked idea:

Why don't we start awarding the participants "winning points" (equal to their score) with which they can BUY common, uncommon or rare alts? That would actually mean that the participants of the Alt Hunt do receive the reward... And the non-participants do not :)

For example:

Common Alt - 1 WP
Uncommon Alt - 2 WP
Rare Alt - 4 WP

And, of course, if you reset than you don't get back the WP you've spent on that alt.

What do you say?

By the way, there IS a certain way to make a reset unwanted by lot of players. Make it cost, say, 5% of TF's XP :)
But I don't think (somehow) that anybody would like that, whether they're offended by people switching alts on Alt Hunts or don't :)

Winning points? meh. If it becomes an "officially sanctioned" thing then we can do what was done with the Christmas tournaments.

Winners get a alt mode of their choosing which is permanently assigned to them and no matter how many rotations there are it can't be taken away from them.

Oh, but that's only for winners, and what I promised is for all participants. That'd make them take part even if they don't win they still have their reward.
