Whether or not this is legit, I'm willing to bet they just put the Alts on hold during the movie just like the main line so Paramount couldn't claim any profits from them. The whole thing about auto makers not backing them may have just been a ploy to not come out and say, "We don't want Paramount claiming profits on our Alternators." I suspect every movie year, the mainlines will get put on hold.

The UPC on the bottom of the box is a real UPC registered to Hasbro. I can't find anything from Hasbro that currently has that specific UPC so maybe it is real.

I think it looks great. I splashed out on a set from Reprolabels to make my Jazz look more G1-ish, so i would love to own an Alt Hotrod with G1 style markings aswell.
