When they drop $ on Takara masterpiece series TFs, AFA graded vintage G1 figures, or MISB vintage figures. A serious collector would be better suited to answer this question

Time to get the soldering iron and a white or green LED ready. Does anyone know how to stop the LED's from blinking, and just switch on and off?

The LED is on a small chip that has the blinker built in, but the switch is separate, so you could replace the switch with one that did the "click to turn on, click to turn off" thing and just wire the green LED from the battery to the switch,removing the entire chip, but this would mean that the chest missle would no longer activate anything. The blinking doesn't bother me too much, since the bateries will last longer that way. I did replace the red LED though and it wasn't hard at all, if you have ever used a soldering iron at all, this is simple, just desolder the two leads on the red led and solder the two leads from the green one, just be sure to get the negative and positive right, or it won't work. Also, stick with the size of the red LED, because there isn't any room for a bigger one if you keep the chip. One more thing, be aware, there are MANY shades of greenish LEDs, some look like neon, some are yellowy and some are just green. It's not easy to find the ones that look neon without tearing into household electronics that have them, but man, they look AWESOME in stuff like this.

Could you provide a link to the LED you used, and perhaps a picture or two? I usually go to Radio Shack, so would they have it? Would they have the switch? I can't just remove the switch and connect the LED? Christ, I'm gonna need a how-to video.

I eagerly wait for the day when Amazon has him back in stock. I do not want to pay $100 plus for him on ebay only weeks after he hit the virtual shelves.

I took mine apart today, just to see how involved it would be. I don't have a sodering iron, so I'd have to do it at my friends. The LED I have was too big, but such a nice green though. If you haven't, take apart the head, so you can get an idea of what you're working with. Be careful not to lose the top head button, or the red bit inside that button. Don't tug hard either, cause you are dealing with wires. If I do go through with swapping LEDs, I'll film it, but after cheacking it out, I'm really thinking I'll just leave it alone. If I could get a 2nd head to mess around with, maybe.

I rip my LEDs and stuff from old electronics, so I can't be much help when it comes to finding the right ones, I just have some pill bottles with different colored LEDs and I hook them to batteries to check them before I install them. The neon looking green ones are usually used as indicator lights in VCRs and radios and stuff, but I assume ou could check online for them. As for the switch, you'll either need to rip it from something else, or hunt it down online too. If there is a TV/stereo repair shop nearby, that would be your best bet on both items. As far as the installation, it would be super easy, one wire from the batteries to the switch, one from the switch to the LED, and one from the other leg of the LED back to the other battery terminal. Radio shack where I live sucks, they never have any parts I need, that's why I salvage them from junked electronics. THe switch that's in Unicrons head doesn't stay on when you let go of it, so if you used it, his eyes would turn off when you let go of the button. You would still need to remove the chip for this to work, but you could probably reconnect the chest switch and his eyes would light up for a second during the missle launching sequence, since the switch in his chest gets pressed for about 2/3 of the launcher extension. I suggest just leaving it as is other than finding a green LED or else you might destroy the electronics and be left with just the light up hand (which would suck).

Pretty sound advice and tips from Armored Rah if your planning to upgrade Unicron's eyes. I did it myself for Takara's Unicron, using extra strong green LED's which I ordered online. Looks amazing, BTW: in a darkened room, on another object held near enough, you can actually see two green spots where the lights hit.
Anyway, even when just opening up Unicron's head, beware of those wires: they are very then and can very easily break when caught or snagged. I replaced the wires as well for some more dureable ones, due to breakage in the original wires.

thanks "news crew guys", I saw the link on the seibertron.con news page & I odered one amazon unicron for myself.

I read from fellow internet TF fans that amazon offered free shipping with orders over $25. While I was doing the 4+ ordering step process I got a bit worried that I had to pay shipping fees. then I saw a few options like If I sign up for amazon prime I get free 2 day shipping. luckily their was another free shipping if I was willing to wait 8+ days for my order to ship. needless to say i'm a very patient person.so I opted not to sign up for the amazon prime trail offering thing. I chose the free shipping Option that had the 8+days slower shipping.

FWIW,I think it Amazon Unicron already sold out. I emailed a friend of mine a few minutes after I ordered mine. my friend told me he was able to get half way thru the ordering process. then a error message showed up & said the item was sold out.

I noticed when I ordered mine,the amazon.com site only allowed buyers to buy 2 amazon unicron's & that's it. I wonder how effective this was against preventing buyers from over odering. I wonder if this also prevented buyers from ordering a second,3rd & so forth time.

I'm just curious was this limit of only 2 quanity per person on the amazon.com site,unicron ordering page weeks/month ago? or is this the first time today amazon.com put a 2 quanity limit per order/person for amazon unicron?

And a big thanks to Seibertron for updating this thread. I might not have checked Amazon today if it wasn't for that. I was actually online when the first stock of it was released, but I didn't have the cash for it at that point. I wasn't expecting the figure to be released until October, and I can't save a penny. -.- Fortunately, I managed to scrape together the cash for it this time around. I was a little afraid it might sell out again since I can't order anything myself off the internet because I'm under 18.

Still, I'm looking forward to getting this guy in the mail a few days from now. I might have to get a bigger bookshelf to keep him on. o.O
