AMT Rodimus, Predaking, a New Leo Prime and More at the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2024

The 2024 Shizuoka Hobby Show 2024 is currently taking place in Japan and Takara is present. It has unveiled the AMT line which is turning previous highly detailed and stylized model kits into transforming figures. The first one shown is AMT-01 Rodimus, which is based on Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri Rodimus. There will also be a Predaking coming in this line. Independently of all this, we also have a preview for a Leo Prime figure along with a first in hand look at the rerelease of MPM 3 Bumblebee in a more accurate, the upcoming exclusive movie Optimus Prime based on SS Crosshairs, MPG Super Ginrai and Missing Link Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.

Whoa, that new deco on MPM-3 looks excellent! Love the more accurate yellow and especially the new alt mode stripes. Wonder if we’ll see this for the other MPMs, as most of them up until Blackout had inaccurate colors.

The Predaking has me intrigued. If the combined form is 12-13 inches to scale with the combiner toys from the past decade, I would defnitely go for it. If its bigger (closer to PotP Predaking) ill pass.

Rodimus looks fantastic, but he’ll probably be obscenely expensive. Car mode looks even more impressive, but transformation is going to be so complex….

I don't think it can be overstated how big of a deal that Rodimus is. This is the first time that Hasbro has allowed another company to make a proper transforming figure of one of their characters. Previous ones have been sneakers, hats, pens and whatnot, but not a bot mode and alt mode based on something specific to Hasbro. The closest we've gotten is the ES Gokin Roadbuster, but that was a super deformed figure so it sort of gets around that. Also all of these are closer to Takara Tomy than Hasbro while Fame Toys tends to do things based directly on Hasbro's licenses.
Really groundbreaking stuff. Can't wait to see what Predaking looks like.
Can't wait to see what that Lio Convoy looks like, I guess this will be our toy colors Masterpiece we never got.

Same here, hopefully that'll mean HasTak will also be more considerate on the kibble as well, we don't need those massive pillars on Headstrong and Tantrum again!

TF40A Bumblebee, the heavy repaint of MPM-3, and Adamas Machina Rodimus are both up for pre-order at the usual places. Rodimus isn't on Amazon Japan yet, but on AmiAmi he comes to $153 before shipping which is A Lot cheaper than the $200-$300 some people were speculating.

If you were looking forward to getting the updated T-Spark Transformers 40th Selection Lio Convoy at the end of February I'm afraid I have some bad news. Reddit user Electronic_Zombie360 made the claim Sunday that the figure had been delayed along with a low resolution and unreadable screen cap supposedly stating it was due to a factory misassembly that was caught. This appears to have been corroborated by AmiAmi who sent out an email on Monday stating the figure has been delayed to a yet to be determined date while Hobby Link Japan changed their release date to March 31 (likely a placeholder).
While the delay is certainly annoying it is a good thing that this was caught ahead of shipping out to stores causing a huge headache for everyone.

I think most collectors are willing to put up with a delay in production, as long as it means they don't have to 'fix' the figure themselves later (coughcoughcoughKingdomGalvatroncoughcough86Optimuscoughcoughcough)....
