Good grief! I haven't seen this much griping since the movie bots were released! Has anyone noticed that the US government NERFS any altmode that even slightly resembles a gun? Get into the 21st Century already! Open your minds! Megatron can be more than a gun. This isn't G1...it will NEVER be G1 again! G1 is but a fond memory for us old farts. Quit trying to impose our past on our present. It's a new generation...not a rehashed one.
microclone wrote:megs as the g1 gun was a bit daft anyway (the toy itself is one of my favourite toys period), it was the product of hasbro picking a microman/diaclone toy and thinking 'which one of these toys we have access to will make the best baddie leader'. combining the diaclone and microman toys automatically meant that the first lot of TF werent going to gel as a whole: a realistic handgun and robotic dinosaurs!!
the walther gun made more sense in the microman world as it was supposed to be a tiny alien bot disguised as real world items (to hide on earth)as were even the minibots that were supposed to be robots disguised as penny racer toys (toy robots disguised as toys!) so megatrons appearance as a gun in g1 was less design and more accident.
had hasbro been able to design a megatron from scratch its unlikely he'd have been a gun, hence the later tanks and vehicles that make more sense. Im all for a helimegs and will judge the toy on its own merits and not on the basis of what it was, what it should be or the cartoon quality.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...

So a FICTIONAL character can think, aye? So a gun that just falls to the ground unless the #1 Traitor is there is more useful than a mobile alt mode?Sledge wrote:Why won't anyone consider what Megatron wants? LOGIC: MISSING.
Ok, your right, I realy miss read badly, I am way of the mark, and appologise, but in my defence, sarcasm does not come off at all in text. No, I was not attacking him as a person, just the idea that a gun, that is utterly useless in battle unless aided by someone, is more preferable because of sentemental feelings. Anything is alot more useful than a gun. Optimus of any gen can ram you down, G1 Megs, well, he can fall to the ground at you.Wes Crayon wrote:Fang Wolf wrote:So a FICTIONAL character can think, aye? Umm... first of all, Sledge was clearly joking with respect to the thinking fictional character thing. And second, the wording of his post clearly suggests a preference for the helicopter mode -- not the handgun -- which you seem to share as well. Why, then, are you apparently attacking Sledge?
So unless I'm totally missing something here (which is quite possible, in which case the words below would apply to me in this case ) --
COMPREHENSION: LACKING.

Along those lines, I always thought it amusing that Megsy had antigravity in robot mode but not in alt mode...despite the fact that the AG powers didn't seem to be jet-turbine related: he didn't have jets in his feet or back, so how did he fly? Magnetic repulsion, more than likely, but that would be available to him in gun mode. But I don't remember him ever hovering on his own. They tried to emphasize the role-playing aspect in the cartoon...it was the only way to sell the alt-mode.

Oh boo friggin' hoo. Get over it, he hasn't been a gun for years. Yeah, he was in the Classics line, but that was marketed at the collectors, not the kids who are obviously going to be watching this show. It seems like the movie all over again with all the whiny fanboys coming outta the wordwork.

microclone wrote:the image from the video game gives a rather slim looking vehicle, hopefully this is a bit of a misrepresentation and the toy itself will be beefier.
Assuming earth megs is to be a chopper i wonder what size the toy will be? A scale chopper would be impossibly large of course, but heres hoping hes going to be bigger than voyager class, can you imagine a whopping big leader class chopper toy, now that could be a lot of fun, kids (you know, those snotty, sticky fingered little creatures) could really like this.
I really like the way tis line is shaping up, its refreshing to have almost real type vehicles again (please note empasis on 'almost'). For the most part I am not a fan of toys like cybertron megatron with an emphasis on fantasy and elaborate design. I way prefer the simpler looking though more ingenious animated toys.
