Well. Technically, he fits my collection criteria. I never got Firebolt, so a new mold to me. But it still doesn't feel different enough to not be a huge ripoff... :/

I hate the damn fishing rod. I never use it with Hot Rod and it's too damn long to fit in my usual tidy box of action figure accessories. Targetmasters are so mucb better.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. For all their good lately, this kind of makes me feel disillusioned. And even with all the explanations, no ones said what the deal is with those stripes on the shins...

Yeah that's weijang's OS Arcee (with the removable backpack bits I've left on in this shot) and Firebolt's a chopped/glued/painted/reconfigured PCC Pinpoint. No way I could afford proper ones so had to make my own and I got Pinpoint in a cheap lot of random 2nd hand TF toys.

I did offer a thought that it could be the way his shins were often shaded in the cartoon. The front of them appearing much lighter than the other sides. I dunno.

Ah, disillusionment. Totes a word, Chrome didn't correct it.

I mean, I would've preferred a Black Hot Rod redeco, it's nice that Takara buyers get the Targetmaster that came out years ago finally. Still wondering what they did to the handle to get it to stay in place on car mode. That's gonna be neat.

Also! The stripes are there for good measure.

Thanks. And replicating your figure's pose made me realise Hot Rod can bend forwards at the waist. I didn't notice that before. Knew he could turn at the waist (even that is a bonus when it's available on a figure though I can understand on some where transformation doesn't allow for it) but yeah didn't realise he had that extra articulation there too. Cheers.

Is that Autobot emblem larger on this guy? I thought it looked bigger but I have mine covered up by the Reprolabel (making it close to that size). Carnivus Prime's shot made me realize it I think!!

So just so it's clear, this deco is accurate to how Hot Rod looked in The Rebirth, in which he was colored in Rodimus Prime's animation-erroneous deco that AKOM made frequent use of in Season 3. So hes accurate to an incorrect color scheme.

The shin stripes, however, are a case of Takara treating the lighting/shading on Hot Rod's shins as literally as possible.

I'm not gonna judge (nor am I here to) Carn!! I did read that the KO improved things, even adding clearance in alt mode!! And a free Matrix is always nice. I should probably get a KO to take on adventures.

Hooray errors!! If they get the color right (by accident on a few) is it an error of an error that ends up being accurate?!

Thanks. Yeah, I definitely prefer them on the roof plus you use both then and not have one laying about. Still it's nice to have options. Not sure how many guns the new one has. Obviously the targetmaster and I can see one of the normal guns now in red, but if you still get both normal guns you can stick those on the roof with the TM in the engine block and Hot Rod can be reeeally well-armed in vehicle mode then.

Also that orange on the rear of the car under the spoilers seems odd. But worse is the much more obvious pieces through the windshield, now very light grey where they are the regular reddish colour on the regular MP

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Takara were to name this figure "Hot Rod" instead of "Hot Rodimus" since he was called "Hot Rod" instead of "Hot Rodimus" n the Japanese dub of "The Rebirth".

Well damn. i actually really like this Hot Rod allot. The Colors, while being the weird ass AKOM colors, are really pretty on that figure. I genuinely love the dark lavender stripes on the shins, along with the dark maroon, burgundy, and magenta. Legit on pre-order.
