Uh...because he's being released as an Autobot, maybe? For clarity, that was my point before: the info in the eBay page for this auction implies that this is going to be an Autobot.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

lol, true, but the self centered jerky americans are always the loudest so they tend to get a lot of attention.

Also, I would like to address what seems a habit of news posters: listing an item's price in yen. I don't use yen. I don't know how to convert yen to dollars. Most of us on here don't. So why in the world do they tell us the price in yen with no "approx. $___" thrown in?

Much like this post from an american. When you travel to other countries, do you get mad at the locals for not speaking english? LOL

Skowl wrote:This site is very international, not everything has to be americanised. You don't hear the huge Canadian, British or Australian population of the boards complain when stuff is listed only in US dollars, do you?

QFT, with the fall of the american dollar picking up steam, how long before people stop listing the comparative american dollar cost altogether? If the toy was made and sold in a different part of the world, why is it the news crew's responsibility to convert the currency?

They would make a leader class Blackout and no so much repaints. After all, he is the bigest decepticon(and transformer)in the movie.

www.xe.com

converts almost near nigh every single currency in the world- and is regularly updated , too.

on topic, i think looking at the silver paint "damage", doesn't it look eerily similar to the "mud splat" on redeco Ironhide?

man, i wouldn't spend big bucks on this toy. at that money, i'd rather spend it on Jin's uber-customized Blackouts (but wait, don't they cost more than $100? rats!)

My sister and I made a bet about something in Japan for $1000 bucks. She of course lost and said she would give me 1k yen instead. So I looked it up and 1k yen was equivalent to $8 USD. So... yeah still kinda expensive.

Zemper- I was going to post the link to XE. It's a very useful site.

Off the top of my head I reckon Y8980 is about £40, which is pretty steep for a DVD + repaint even in the UK. I know DVDs are usually mad-expensive in Japan, but still...

I suspect he has an Autobot logo for the same reason that the original movie Starscream prototype had a damaged face- to impact the resale value of the proto. Of course, faction-switching just makes it a unique variant and is likely to push the price up more...

quite true, factory defect first-runs are usually more valuable, and i guess this toy's going to go in there with the rest of the more expensive ones.

but even if it's done the way it should have been done, i wouldn't get this toy...it's not movie-accurate at all, the colors just don't scream out military like it would have in the movie.

Lawson's previous exclusive, gold BB, was waay better than this.

QFT!

I like him, except the autobot symbol of course, lol.

gotta wonder how you can miss that when you're going on about 'accuracy'

Plus maybe it's just me, but I don't see the 4500X in any of the pics, wasn't it towards the back on the "drivers?" side?

I am going to buy this toy if it is going to sell, but, now way, there is now reason at all that the Autobots deserve someone that powerful!
(oh, whats the use of my comment they already got Evac and his rotor blade power, i'm just lucky that none of my transformers are bad guys, even though i have decepticons.)

If you don't know how to convert Yen, why assume the poster does?

currency calculator - according to this, 8990 yen = US$81.
