Heh, yeah. The alligator head really makes this figure. Cob, do you think the rubber parts should be coated?

Love the TR/Headmasters line so far! Only interested in Headmasters that were Headmasters in the fiction though.

So between Takara Tomy Hardhead and Hasbro Hardhead - who would you recommend? :-?

Hardhead was one of my lonely Transformers as a kid, and my only Headmaster, and the more I see on here with him, the more I'm tempted to pick him up. With TFNation coming up... ;)

Suggestions, tips?

Well, I prefer Hardhead to have a mouth, so Takara. And I guess the look fits his personality. Also, the Hasbro one has oddly coloured thighs.
But if the character is special to you, get both...?

But you could buy that little tank seperately and you get a free extra head with it too.

And Cyberpath, I didnt notice until your pics, but the outline of the tank treads on on Hardhead seem to be paited a light blue. Is that the case or is that just reflection playing tricks?

Must be the reflection, it's actually silver.

Thanks! I have humidity in spades, didn't know it was a good thing. But I didn't mean rubber rot (melt/split).. just that it might get sticky and gross? (or is that also an effect of rubber rot?)

Maybe trade Titanmasters with someone that wants the opposite? Though might not be worth the shipping and hassle.
Mouth vs no-mouth is a pretty huge difference, personally I'd make a decision based mostly on the head sculpt.

I know what you mean by "sticky and gross". I think that is a combo of a certain kind of rubber, paint, and time. I don't think these parts are that kind of rubber, and on my Hasbro Skruncher, both parts are molded in the appropriate color. So it may not be an issue. How are the treads on your Leader Megatron holding up?

So far so good, thanks! :)

Heh, "Skruncher" - I like it.

I'd say go with the Takara version if you have the option.

In person, the paint on the Hasbro version is kind of a thin yellow and it just isn't done all that well. IDW Hardhead has always had the non-cowl version, so there's that too.

One thing to note, the color combos between the two are not compatible, so buying both to swap heads won't look good at all.

So, my big issue with Sentinel Prime is how lightly armed he is. When I think of Sentinel Prime, I think excessive firepower. Instead of coming at a difficult problem with special powers or skills, Sentinel just goes and gets a bigger gun. Indeed, accessorizing really seems to make a difference with this guy:

And then there's Galvatron, who's not exactly flexible, but he can be fun in the right context:

Well Takara is price pointing that little tank as 5$ extra. Thats the same price point as the titan masters but they come with a head. So for the same price point you get either the Takara version with the extra tank or the Hasbro version with the titanmaster set that comes with both the tank and another head.
