First thought was something boring like Laser Prime or Power Master Prime or some other version that would be released instead of a character that really needs/deserves a Masterpiece but I'm sold on this idea if they can pull it off.

Just when I got too excited for another G1 Masterpiece... I already got my MP Optimus Prime with the trailer so I'll pass this one.

Come on Takara! If you can make the Seekers, why not make Jetfire, Jazz, Roadbuster, Wheeljack, Devastator, Arcee, Springer, etc.

Don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.
Hasbro cannot even get a Windcharger figure released worth a few dollars...

I'm anxious to see what he comes with, other than the trailer. MP Hot Rod/Rodimus will be a hard act to follow. I want to see what they bring to the table.

True. But for me, if it isn't a Laser Prime or Powermaster Prime, I'll pass myself. I have the 1st one from Hasbro (I think), do no need in another one. I do wish Takara would have done something different. And am I reading right? Will this be the last MP?

If this is an updated optimus prime. They need to make the accessories need to be mini in scale figures of spike sparkplug and daniel. These need to come with this figure. :grin:

Until I see pics of a new Masterpiece Optimus Prime, or offical word from TakaraTomy, we should treat this as rumor. Personally I have my own theory, like everyone else. If you take the $250 BBTS are asking for and divide by 3 it comes to just over $83. That would be a good price per fig. What 3 Masterpiece figs would TakaraTomy love to destroy, hmmm. How about the 3 Conehead Seekers being produced by iGear and some outside company. A 3 pack of Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet, cheaper than the asking price iGear are wanting ($65 cheaper), would be fantastic. Also, it would be poetic justice for iGear ripping of the designs from TakaraTomy and the designs Wheeljack (the customiser, not the bot) did for his custom Coneheads. Then there is the cash iGear have spent getting these into production. I really hope that happens.

Very disappointed about another Prime. I already have an MP Prime and he is almost perfect. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The only complaint i have about the current MP Prime is I wish his fingers were more articulated. Other than that, what is there to improve upon? Then sell it for $250? No thanks. I'd love to see Arcee/Soundwave/Shockwave. I would also like to see a nice MP fig of Blackout done properly.

Because it was the last time that mold will see the light of day, not the last Optimus Prime ever made. (at least until nostalgia kicks in 3 years down the road

Because that was made as a cheap trailer for MP01 Prime, who had no trailer. That's also not an official HasTak trailer, but one KO'd by iGear.

Come to think of it, I am glad I didn't buy the iGear Faith Leader, because I was seriously considering buying it for scale sake. Now, if I am really going to keep my MP line complete (the main figures at least, not the MP-01M or MP-01L or MP-01Whatevertheheck), I will at least have the smaller Masterpiece 'officialized' by Takara, which is cool.

But IF I'm buying it, that is.

Now, don't get me wrong, I know they can make a top notch toy, but how on Earth can they surpass THS-02 and MP-04, put a hefty price tag on it and, worse yet, put it on the Masterpiece line as MP-10?

The ONLY reason I can come up with is that they are rebooting the line for the newer generation of TF fans (after all, the MP-01 was released in 2004 and we're in 2011).

Other than that, US$ 250 for a downscaled MP Prime is just out of order! The MP-04 is magnficent EXACTLY because it's HUGE!

I'm so gutted!

It's not a remold, it a completely new mold of Optimus Prime.

Makes sense. But still, a "new mold" yet it's still Prime. The only way this would work for me is if it was Laser Prime. or even the Targetmaster Prime. But since it isn't, I'm gonna have to pass. Plus the fact that it's gonna be the last MP is kind of aggravating. Oh well, I'll live. Thank Cybertron for 3rd party toy makers....
