Y'know, I thought I might be good as far as the BeastQuest was concerned -- I got most of the Maximals and some of the Predacons I really wanted...but then, Cobo had to share some of the coolest figures I've seen in awhile: Black Big Convoy & Ultra Mammoth

I'm considering pulling the trigger on the former (still $100+!) but the more I see of Ultra M in BEASTLY MODE, the more I want him!ImageSeriously, wow! Ultra Mammoth even looks like he doesn't think that "sometimes crazy works".

Yo Bod, I feel I should warn you. His paint isn't the greatest. application and quality. Mine came with some scuffs, dings, and crocked apps.
If you can find him for more around $70, which is what I think I payed. It would at least make me feel better.

Thanks for the heads-up, Cobo! I appreciate that, and don't worry -- all you did was show me cool bots. :MAXIMAL:

I have found Ultra Mammoth at about $80....but I can't decide which of the two I want (first?).

With the two PotP Primes, I could swallow the cost of both (at $45 a piece), but the prices on these Beast Wars figures is definitely higher.....and I got a pending payment for the MP-36 Megatron reissue this month (he's too perfect to pass up, imho).

First World Problems, m i rite 8-}

UPDATE: I decided to pull the trigger on Big Black, but it looks like he just got bought (13, 000 yen) -- so as much as I totally missed out, that's ~$115 saved (for now!). ;)^

Bummer about the pistol. He's got that cool quick draw gimmick. Great figure though. Maybe TFL for a replacement revolver?

One more score, thanks to eBay...taken again from Beast Wars Neo, I obtained Beast Machines Dinobot Magmatron for the right price!

Sure, this Target exclusive claimed he was a Maximal.....but he will not be heroic in my house. :PREDACON:
IMG_9952.JPG

He was on my Want List, for a couple reasons:
1. Seasaur - I've wanted an elasmosaurus Transformer
2. He's the Big Bad from Beast Wars Neo

It'll be great to add him to my Beast collection.

Speaking of which -- did you mention you had a decent collection of Beast Wars 2 figures, Wingz? Any favorites you might recommend to a new Beast fan? :)

Dudebro! You are DOING IT! Great haul on that awesome and weird combiner!
Such a creepy and cool demon king, no?
So you got the domestic Beast Machines Dinobots release?
I think I have that version. He still has the :PREDACON: jewel emblems right?

Bod, I know you are asking Wingz, but my favorite mold is the triceratops, Guildart/Killerpunch. (but you proably already knew that. :D ) Of which there IS a domestic release.

Image
Transformers Beast Machines Triceradon Gallery

There was also a an Armada and Universe release of Triceradon.

Also the more recent Walmart Exclusive AOE release.

But I've seen this one and Have the similar Terrorsaur release. The quality is not great.

Edit: DUH! You asked Wingz about BW2. Sorry. I get so excited about Neo! 8-}

You know I love Beast Wars Neo, Cobotronicus, and I totally want a representation of the KILLER PUNCH (his name feels like it should be all in caps lol) mold!

Triceradon looks pretty cool (too bad only KILLER P is in 'Con purple, but it makes sense since the US made him a Maximal Dinobot), and I may have to get him to represent -- he's so much cheaper it's ridiculous (like 10% the price tag of KILLER!).

It's interesting that these BW Neo molds came to us as Beast Machines Dinobots (and then Universe, etc.), and as Maximals, no less. Especially for somebot like Magmatron.
IMG_9957.PNG
Secret of the EarWings
I totally got him also cuz of the whole Devilman look -- I love me some demons (explains why I love those SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI RPGs). Make them Transformers and it's a must-have! I had found him in mandarake for like 7500 yen, and he disappeared quickly...
Image
But last night, I scored the domestic release cheaper! And thankfully, he sports all dem Predacon spark crystals. I had to choose between him and Ultra Mammoth, as they were the same price....and I still want that mold most in Black (to be my Nemesis Prime, even though that Universe incarnation is exactly that!). ;)ImageI like how that DW/IDW (?) dossier about Magmatron basically tries to explain the domestic release -- I think I'll even incorporate it into my own head-canon. ImageI saw that Walmart version of Triceradon and Bazooka's domestic retool, Slapper -- but those colors did not call me like the BW Neo incarnation did. ImageBecause BW Neo da bomb.

Whoops! >.> lurking while working and just saw your question! <.<

Hmmmm....ha! I know this! This is one of those "trick questions", right? :-? I'm on to you...

I really like Dirgegun and my God Neptune! Black Lio Convoy doesn't look nearly as cool as Black Big Convoy with regard to accuracy and build, in my opinion, but the variations in light gray are pretty neat compared to Black Big Convoy! Like the mane, for example. =D

For Dirgegun, I'm not a huge fan of his legs sticking out in wasp mode, but if you pull them out to max length, they actually look a bit more like bug legs  Basically, he uses the Waspinator model, but I like the colors and Frankenstein feel to him. Plus, the missiles are easier to keep track of since they clip into the wings :D

God Neptune uses the old King Poseiden/Scramble City model, and the actual robot modes for the individual Seacons are really bad, but the beast modes and combined mode are very accurate (which is why I imagine the robot modes look like a stretch)! Scylla looks pretty scary, though

Ultimately, I think the Neo figures are much better designed, but I just keep finding these good deals on Beast Wars II figures =P~ I just have a hard time saying no when I can afford it. And why would I want to?

EDIT: I got caught up in trying to figure out which ones stand out to me and forgot to congratulate you on a marvelous Magmatron find! Very, very nice! ;)^ I've always loved that model! I don't own him yet, but he's definitely on my "grab it!" list!

(I'm also not the best judge. The safer bet would be to go with Cobo's suggestion! Aside from Lio Convoy, I'm not sure my views are shared regarding any of them since I don't see many people talking about these toys over newer releases. That's why I like this thread so much. >.>)

I'm finding domestic, US releases of the Beast Wars to be relatively cheap, but Neo is certainly the most expensive flavor of the whole Beast era.

I saw both Beast Wars & Machines very recently, so the characters are still fresh! I really want to see BW Neo now, though.....but I may have better luck seeing BW2!

As you can see, I love the present day figures - but my love of the past keeps coming back to make me buy more. And then take pics. :ic$:

EDIT: I saw pics of Black Lio Convoy -- he'd be great in any collection. ;)^

Why don't we ever see the black variants here in the States? Except for the occasional Nemesis Prime, we don't seem to get straight-up alternate colors. But I guess I'd call any Blackened Prime by the name Nemesis...

EDIT again: And if you didn't notice, I do tend to like the freaks & geeks of the TF Universe! So thanks for sharing your faves from BW2, Wingz. :MAXIMAL:

Chronologically speaking, Beast Wars II directly follows Beast Wars in the distant future. Beast Wars Neo takes place after Beast Wars II. I've seen to the end of Beast Wars II, but I can't find Neo to save my life

The way I see it, the newer toys are very cool and worth getting, but they'll be around for while. You'll still be able to get them brand new at a reasonable price. A lot of the older toys, such as the beast era, are limited. I absolutely love the beast era toys, so that's been my main focus. It'd be nice to get my Masterpiece collection going, and I could likely buy newer figures 3:1 for the cost of some of these older figures, but I don't want to lose a chance to complete the beast era since they're far more limited. :D That's my thought on it, anyway.

Looking forward to getting more Neo figures after seeing some of your finds! Very awesome stuff! ;)^

If you like Heinrad for his uniqueness to the universe, you might also like Thrustor from Beast Wars II! He's got a few funny quirks to him. Apache, too, for the 2.5 modes (still unsure if he constitutes being a triple changer  )

EDIT: How could I forget about the Jointrons or Insectrons  If you like the freaks and geeks of Transformers, you may definitely be interested in these. The Jointrons (DJ, Motorarm, and Gimlet) also combine into Tripledacus. As far as the Insectrons go, he gets a lot of flack but I love Powerhug  So many crazy toys in that line

Dem catalogues. Makes me realize how many BW2/Neo's I still need :MR-T:
One of the few I do have though is the stunning God Neptune. Found at a local hole in the wall hobby shop that barely even had TF's for 60 bucks

I don't have, and always wanted, Magmatron. He was always on my mind but never made it high enough on the hit list for some reason. One day, one day. Looking forward to your Maggy hijinx 8-}

Hey Wingz, since BW2 is available subbed, I can definitely watch it first and then sit & wait till we get Neo! I am still hoping Shout Factory someday delivers...

I hear ya on hunting down the Beasts before they get up there in price like most things G1 -- I previously hunted down the Pretenders and got pretty good deals, but that changed with their resurgence as Prime Masters. Thankfully, I tracked down most on my list, but Bludgeon remains expensive & elusive.

The BW2 Predacons have a unique look about them -- I like the Frankenbots.

The Jointrons look AWESOME!

I think Airraptor would fit in just fine.

And the Insectrons -- I only recently saw Mantis/Manterror, and he's made my list; he can even still be found cheap.

POWERHUG! Yet another awesome name.

Hi Shaj! Those catalogs have always been great checklists, and I miss getting them with our new figures. When/why did they stop?!

Speaking of God Neptune, I wonder what the odds are that we see the Seacons get an update with PotP. He certainly wouldn't be $60 complete -- great deal!

I definitely have plans for Magmatron. He didn't even move to the top of my Beast list until Will's List of Top 5 Best Dinosaur Transformers; it made me think of dinosaurs I wanted, like an ankylosaurus and some sorta plesiosaur... :PREDACON:

Both of which led me to Beast Wars Neo, mandarake (thanks Emerje!), and to where I am today on my BeastQuest -- you & Cobo's encouragement to watch both Beast Wars & Beast Machines guaranteed I'd be obtaining some domestic releases. :)

I love the hand-drawn anime art of BEAST WARS II.

After watching BEAST MACHINES, this is certainly more light-hearted. If you enjoy anime, you know what to expect: a zany, silly and cool take on Beast Wars from Japan.

I had no idea my BW Snarl was BW2's Tasmanian Kid! I don't even see a discernible difference between the two, so henceforth, Imma call him Taz. Or Kid.

Sup, kid?

Magmatron should be arriving on Saturday. I honestly can't wait....

Yea, I've seen a few different variations for the toy names

Tazmanian Kid - Snarl
Scuba - Claw Jaw
Apache - Baboom or Mandrill

I'm not entirely sure why there are so many variations for some of them. Yea, it has an old school style to the art, which I greatly enjoy. Really glad you're liking it!

I prefer these Japanese names for BW2!

Kid's name I prefer simply because I already have a Snarl. ;)

Although I really enjoyed the CG in both US Beast series, the production costs clearly limited the cast of characters -- in BW2, the cast is fairly large, so it must be cheaper to produce a purely hand-drawn series. So why aren't these available officially with subtitles?! I'm late to the party, but I know people have been waiting a couple of decades now...

I sometimes miss my old vintage store that used to sell random bootleg DVDs and Transformers....then they shifted to selling "cool" clothes and art. :(
