I know you don't have or handled the G1, but how does the KO feel? Any idea how it compares? 17 bucks seems pretty cheap!

He feels alright - no die cast metal whatsoever, only one Breastformer (as opposed to two!), he's taller than the original, and his version of the weapon looks better - but no tail/shield for the KO. His face is the same as the original, except not metallic-looking, different visor....and different wing-style on the solo Breastformer.
His dino-wings are actually improved over the original in that they're adjustable - kinda cool. He also feels like he has some heft, despite the lack of metal. He's got ratchets in his legs, wheels to make him a triple-changer....for $17, a great value!
But his face is not nearly as cool as the G1 original's. Same thing with the Breastformer -- it has the basics of the original figure, but takes some liberties...
Let's just say I might let my kids play with this! But we may never know how the real G1 figure feels in-hand...I'll settle for his rumored Titans Return Leader incarnation.

I also found his guns, but they cost almost as much (no surprise).
So in two weeks, Roadblock and Skullgrin will join my small Pretender collection!
Still no Autobots, but they all look too human for me.
I also went and bought both guns ($15)...cuz I'm too much of a completionist.

I honestly can't believe I almost passed on 'Shadow! Originally, the plan was to skip him and get TR Leader Overlord -- but I'd much rather have his MMC incarnation.
I certainly have no regrets... but no idea when I'll get Carnifex. Imma blame Sigma for this need.

I got these from Amazon and will personally vouch for them.bodrock wrote:Thanks for the tips, guys. I will see what my options are at my toy stores and verify 3mm pegs...definitely will be wary of the breakage!

Obitsu Body Stands
Pic is a link to amazon, text is a review link. They are only good for deluxe or smaller, but you could use two or more for larger figures for pics. Each comes with three different sizes of claws, 5mm peg, 3mm peg, 3 poles/extensions and an extra attachment for adding an extra claw or extension to a stand. Boom! You can find them as a 5 pack or single packed on amazon. Check aliexpress for even more/cheaper options.
One more for the road. They are Obitsu even though the description doesn't say it. Mine are branded.

And it looks like I got a delivery today -- of course, it's never great to see a package that looks like it got crushed by a klutz.Fortunately, the bot inside was packed up nice and safe.

ULTRA PRETENDING
Posted by bodrock Wed Jun 21, 2017 12:42 pm
In the end, he ran me $89 total -- not bad, considering he goes for about $130+ complete.
I never thought I'd hunt down Pretenders after all these decades - but I honestly never knew about the Double and Ultra Pretenders. Then again, 10 y/o me probably would've hated on them even back then. But not anymore!
Roadblock looks fantastic. His inner-self is in great shape, but GPS has me scared enough that he may be stored away for display-only.
His shell looks even better in-hand -- the colors are so 80s. I absolutely love that. His visor can tip up or shield his face, without being floppy.
Compared to Finback (my large Pretender) and Octopunch (mini-Pretender), he's a bit closer in size to the latter...but then there's his non-transforming siege tank/battering ram. So he's like a mix of GI Joe (tank), He-Man (shell) and Transformers (inner-bot!) = AWESOMENESS
I imagine he'd be a great recruit for my DJD....

I seriously freaked too, shaj! Fortunately it was all good -- but handling inner-bot 'Block himself is nerve-wracking....I couldn't even properly push him into his hovercraft cuz I didn't want to put any stress cracks on the gold plastic.
Then I got over it and 'Block went cruisin'.

I very carefully placed him in his hovercraft, positioning his arms to easily fit into the seat....and do not plan to touch/transform inner-Block much, since his feet are tight on their screws. But I like the figure a lot -- the thought crossed my mind to completely coat him in some sort of super-glue!
I should just minimize handling him, and for the recent pics, I left him in his shell.

I don't have much GPS experience besides a Japanese BW Randy. I transformed him once luckily... don't think I'll do it again. And my G2 love will some day get me a terrifyingly gold Slingshot

I had stopped collecting figures at the time, and thought the Pretender concept was silly anyway. It still is, honestly, but also very cool -- I love the monster designs.
