Not going to miss buying Thundercracker and Dirge. In the case of Dirge, the ramjet deco was much better. Really want Thrust but like I've said I can't afford to drop more than $300 for just one figure. I really like the Classics Bumblebee mold and plan on getting the Cliffjumper repaint in a few days. I feel like Xibit got his hands on one of the Bumblebee/Cliffjumper mold though, and took it to Gas or whatever that place is called now to have it pimped out.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

Grimlock, Mirage, Hotrod, Astrotrain & Megs have not gotten the repaint treatment yet (Assuming Dreadwing is the Jetfire mold). So the question is will any of those figures be the mystery figure(s)? Or will folks lucky enough to be able to go get treated to a real suprise and end up with Classics Sunstorm? :-?

He's not? He was the main villain in some of the Dreamworks comics. He has a slew of toys. And yes, he even has a brief cartoon appearance.

And real enough of a character to everyone else that I hear constsnt cry to have classic figure made for him.

It's a shame this wasn't an 'all or nothing' boxset. Having 3 characters that matter with 2 that mean exactly squat is what makes it a hard pill to swallow.

Dreadwind is a G1 character though. He didn't appear in the G1 toonof course, but he was in the Marvel comics.

Yeah I know who Dreadwind is - a Decepticon Powermaster jet that combined with Darkwing (or whatever his name was). My point is that he was such a secondary background character compared to the current crop of Classics that his appearance in this boxset is entirely for the sake of filling some space. Fact is that they are reaching with this Jetfire repaint, and Dreadwind happened to be the name they chose for it. Even repainting & slightly remolding Rodimus into Sideswipe or whoever else would have made a lot more sense imo... even though I don't necessarily agree with it. At least that's keeping with some sort of theme, whereas Bugbite & Dreadwind are purely filler for the sake of adding more Cons to the mix.

That's all I meant :)

I disagree about him being "such a secondary character" - Dreadwind wasn't just in the comics, he was in the comics quite a lot. Probably more than Astrotrain. And heck, assuming they only used Classics molds, you know the other possible choices would have been just as obscure.

Nevertheless, he is almost pointless without his drinking buddy Darkwing and I agree he is mostly in there to fill space.

But Sunstorm is so dull! He was boring in the DW comics (which themselves weren't great) and he's another Seeker. After three Seekers and three Coneheads do we really need a seventh of essentially the same toy?

Bug Bite looks nice, though.

I don't love bugbite, but hes interesting. As for Sunstorm, ofcourse we need him. I have all 7 seekers in the G1 mold and would like all 7 done in the Classics mold.

Bugbite looks exactly like I thought he would but I imagined some kind of a silver decal set as a part of his paint job. Didn't see the purple tribal symbols coming. I see him less of a leader, especially of the seekers, and see him more of a scout or espionage type. Better yet he could be a spy. I just look at this figure as a bonus.

I know many people, myself included, are buying the set primarily for the seekers. If Dreadwind has the Jetfire mold, that would be nice as well. Jetfire was done so well I wouldn't mind having a second character with that mold.

It would have been nice if we had some more top tier level characters like Jazz and Shockwave instead of Bugbite and Dreadwind. Hot Shot could have been remolded into Sideswipwe and Sunstreaker. It seems that poor Wheeljack continues to get the shaft and this would have been a great opportunity to give him a decent mold worthy of his G1 cartoon self. Again, it would have been nice to see some more primary characters released in this set, but I think that would have just pissed everyone off, including myself, that they didn't get a retail release. This years set is still one of the best sets they've put together and I am glad I went ahead an ordered it.

First off, I like the tribal designs on him. Makes him stand out more. I hope that they do eventually match up the head color and the body color. Not one of my more favorite molds from the line, but we all knew who it was going to be. I'd give him a B.

*sigh*
First we get complaints from people being mad about Botcon using such well know characters. Now within the same Botcon set, we are now getting complaints about the character not being more "mainstream"?

So what does everyone want? No set at all?

Which is why I hate Sunstorm. He's a overpowered character with very little depth to him. Though I do love orange on TFs so he always leaves me enjoying the look of his figures but still hating them.

I know what you mean. He's like the Sephiroth of Transformers. Not as cool as so many people think.

About the Seekers not being released in retail, I don't know if it's because parents wouldn't buy six of essentially the same figure so much as kids wouldn't know Thundercracker and the rest because the recent versions of Transformers have not had Thundercracker or Dirge. Armada had a Thrust in name, but there hasn't been a Ramjet in ages. Ramjet at least is a different looking jet, as is Thrust, and if you look at G1 Dirge his wings bear a bit more than a passing resembalance to G1 Ramjets. So maybe the Seekers as exclusives is more because kids don't know who those other Seekers are, let alone would they know about the Seekers as a group. Now this isn't for all kids naturally, but there, it's my two cents.

Not so much a full blown complaint as just a general gripe, so don't read into it too much.

The only reason I personally have a problem with this year's set is because, as I already stated, I basically just paid over $400 CDN for 3 seekers since the other 2 characters don't mean anything to me... or the Classics line as a whole. I'm not on the Sunstorm bandwagon like a lot of people are these days, but I almost would have preferred if they just included him along with a generic purple or green seeker instead of these Bumblebee & Jetfire repaints. In my *personal* opinion we certainly don't need 3 versions of the BB mold, and it makes no sense to me that Jetfire gets an out-of-the-blue repaint into a Con. If there was a Con based on the Jetfire mold anywhere in the original series, I'd be on board with it. But there isn't, so I'm not :)

But whatever, I *did* pay for the set so I'll deal with it. My disappointment with the character selection is simply for the sake of forum conversation - not tyrannical ranting or anything, hehe. Which I think is allowed :)

Didn't mean to pick on ya either. It was just the more recent post regarding what I was kinda saying. I shoulda just edited out somethings. But I do understand that since we are paying for so much for this set, that you'd want the most you can. It was just so much complaining lately that's gotten to me. I for one an loving this set.

I too agree with one thing you mentioned above. Even mentioned it on the TFCC board that I'd love to see a new colored seeker (specifically green) as the Botcon attendee freebie. I like Sunstorm and all, but he's not a make it or break it deal for me.

Now that is an exclusive. A previously unknown character that the masses won't scream blue murder over the fact it is an exclusive.

It's okay, but one repaint of that mould is enough for me..

In the TFCC comic, they've mentioned Shockwave in hushed tones more than once. I bet that a Megatron redeco into Shockwave is coming (new head, new colors, and possibly a gun-arm mod, and you're done). Most likely, as one of the attendee-only exclusives.

You've taken the post right out of my hands. The general amount of griping has gotten a little annoying. Kudos to Hasbro for just doing something interesting. Had this been done in another line, though, it might not have been so popular--I think the Classics line had enough high-quality molds in it that I could care less what character they make. I'd LOVE another Jetfire molded figure...

I must agree with you TFBuyer. The Classics molds are fantastic in my book. And since I can't seem to afford the G1 version toys of the Botcon set from Ebay (Thrust for example) this works very well for me. And now that Master Collector is charging people's cards who pre-ordered the set it is really mine now!

From what I understand Hasbro doesn't really have alot to do with these other then the licensing. FunPub deals directly with Takara. They do the design, then Takara does the actual toy making, and ship it over here. Hasbro never touches them.

From what I understand Hasbro doesn't really have alot to do with these other then the licensing. FunPub deals directly with Takara. They do the design, then Takara does the actual toy making, and ship it over here. Hasbro never touches them.

I stand corrected. Kudos to somebody for just doing something interesting. :P
