- Optimus Prime was resurrected in a Powermaster body
- Bumblebebee was upgraded into Goldbug, then downgraded back to Bumblebee by Ratchet because he "prefers 'Bee that way" (it was actually to show off his then new Pretender Toy)
- Darkwing was rebuilt into a new G2 Dreadwing body, one of the first known cases of official repurposing.

Dead Metal - until now. Every single deluxe release is based on the comics going forward. So, Hasbro is now using the comics as a launching pad for their product, probably until the 4th movie comes out. And the fact that they have FOC Starscream as a comic deisgn in Thundercracker and Skywarp and then move to Armada proves this.
Sabrblade - That is a mess! I never knew they were that variable in their design aesthetics. I can see why they adopt FOC/WFC and eveything else under the sun. If you had a comic book related collection how could you classify your figures? From that standpoint you could shoehorn any figure that ever was because they appear to use every deisgn that ever was? Perfect for the guy who just collects all the molds for a particular character. Is Bumblebee an exception or is this normal? Do they do this with all characters?

That's how things used to be, with different illustrators having different creative visions for the characters. Since then, things have become a LOT more consistent.shockblast2 wrote:Sabrblade - That is a mess! I never knew they were that variable in their design aesthetics. If I had an IDW comic collection, I'd only include the few toy designs that were actually in the comics, since a whole lot of designs were made strictly for the comics and have never had toys made for them.shockblast2 wrote:If you had a comic book related collection how could you classify your figures? Of those Bumblebee designs, for instance, only two of them have actually been made into toy form.

Doesn'T really matter, they decided to work closer together with idw, at least for the 30th. Most of the revealed toys have been in the comics for a while now (as in 2 years or even longer), so it's more the toys are based on the comics. It's also not proven that Armada Starscream will be a new G1 comic Starscream body, it's possible but then again he might be something different, like some weird dimension hopping dude. We'll have to wait and see.
shockblast2 wrote:And BTW, what do you all see yourselves getting out of these new reveals? I will probably pick up Skids and put him in my FOC collection since the car mode looks Cybertronian. Definitely Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Hoist. I also like the Whirl reveal, might pick him up just cause. I won't get any of the Beast transformers. I really think that line defeated the purpose of TF's in general. They are supposed to be robots in disquise. A 25ft rhino or a 15 ft wasp is kinda revealing, is it not?I was not into TF's when they had their day so I won't knock it. I guess you could say the same about the G1 insecticons or dinobots.
I likely will only get Waspinator and Rhinox, I kinda stopped collecting.
In G1 the Transformers didn't give a toss about their disguises, they kept revealing themselves to the public and showed of their amazing abilities, hell Optimus even had his own statue.
The concept of Beast Wars was that they needed the beast modes to survive the extreme Energon radiation of prehistoric Earth. They where human sized Transformers that turned into human sized versions of what ever animal they turned into, so the alt-modes weren't to scale, nore where they super huge, well except the ones that turned into tiny things like insects and arachnids.

But yes, check out Beast Wars, it's awesome, plus if you're into G1 you will get a super great kick out of the show, trust me.

From what we were told (only those who attended BotCon know he he looks), he is supposed to look much like his original toy from Generation One. Whirl, along with those that weren't shown publicly, will be finally shown at SDCC (and it can't get here fast enough: I want that Armada Starscream with a burning passion!).
One more question, are bot shots getting the proverbial boot? No reveals at Botcon?
As far as I know, there were no reveals for Bot Shots at BotCon.

If you ask me, I think just "CHU" would fit better. Or even just "Classics-style". Or, if one wanted to get a little eccentric, "CHUU" or even "CHUURTS". For reasons I've given in that now-infamous Generations Trailcutter video review thread.Dead Metal wrote:Not all CHUG (seriously, I don't like that term)

I think he's referring to Series 1 (2012), 2 (2013) and so on, since they don't have any real redesigns to speak of. There are no designs made specifically for only the toy line first and foremost as the WfC/FoC and IDW figures have their bases in other media.

(well... you know what I mean
Some people are just never going to get it. Sometimes you get a person who is too arrogant to realise that not everyone likes what he/she likes and that befuddles (and possible scares) them so they can't help but be insulting and argumentative.
Best thing to do is ignore them and carry on as if they aren't posting there
As for the CHUG debate, I've never really liked that term myself and prefer Neo-Classics. These days my Neo-Classics set has (what I call) a strong Aligned theme to it with additions inspired from the Aligned Continuity and IDW G1. I don't read many comics but love the toy collecting options they bring and like to mix and match toys from any line if they fit with my personal tastes.
For me, Classics was never G1, it was Classics. A nice homage to characters of old, but something that was looking towards the future. Calling people names because they like to add toys various lines to their "Classics" shelves is small-minded and pathetic in the extreme.
Collecting is a fun and (sometimes) expensive hobby that is in the eye of the beholder (so to speak), so why is there anything wrong with saying I want to put X figure on Y shelf because it pleases me to do so? Sometimes I've been surprised when someone has said they prefer that over this and when they say it just looks better that way to them that's the end of it. Each to their own
Sorry about my little (slightly off topic) rant, couldn't help myself. Btw Sabrblade, you summed it all up really well, nice one

Truth be told, a lot of the more "knowledgeable" members on this forum can come off as arrogant, too. Transformers is one of these fandoms where a person can be in a group with the other fans about wanting a toy, but totally alone in trying to have a decent conversation. This can lead to frustration and lashing out, since the whole purpose for a person to sign up on a forum is to talk to other people. I'm not calling the Trailcutter Discussion a case of this, but it's happened on this site quite a few times.
In more topic related stuff, how the Hell did I miss news about a non-Ruination Whirl figure? C'mon, SDCC!

The difference is when someone opens with an insult towards a particular style of collecting. The more "knowledgeable" members, that I've seen, have never done this.datguy86 wrote:Arctorro wrote:Some people are just never going to get it. My final and official assessment of this topic, in case anyone wants to try to throw me under the bus going forward, is that they are just TOYS. Who cares what you do with what you own? I mean really? The fact that some argue venomously to the point of namecalling proves that some have some serious growing up to do. Don't feel bad, I ve been there too. Just stop. Its silly. Really silly. But, there is nothing wrong with a good debate, and I like one. As long as the other side doesn't try to stone me for my opinion or the like. And after that debate I realized that some of you cannot be light hearted about the topic of Transformers. Some of you are REALLY into your figures, and I don't share that mentality. I like them, yes, but not to the point where I am going to curse another human being from thinking differently than me about plastic toys.

Yes, you do have some serious growing up to do seeing as your supposed "joke" was were the name calling began and endedshockblast2 wrote: The fact that some argue venomously to the point of namecalling proves that some have some serious growing up to do.
Exactly! Clearly you need to learn a little more about the written language. Next time you want to be sarcastic try leaving the insults out and using some (or all) of theseMindmaster wrote:Y'know, it's kinda hard to pick up on sarcasm on the Internet.

Itaics, as they help to convey sarcasm and emotion.
Quote me where I insulted anyone? Where I attacked and demeaned just one member. I never did. All I did was debate the topic. I poked fun at the people who are so in love with G1 that they flip out if you try to suggest that every single generations release is NOT geewun related. And I admitted that is what I was doing to Sabrblade in particular. And as a matter of fact, that debate had nothing to do with the rest of you so what the hell do you care, rather than to rip someone for something because they don't agree with your opinion? I mean really? Did it affect you personally? Were you personally offended that I told Sabrblade that he had geewunitis? Because if you would have read the WHOLE thing you would have seen my post where I continously threw myself under the bus. But, you didn't read that far because you decided to pass personal judgment on me before considering the whole situation, didn't you? I wasn't trying to hate on him for his opinion. And I told him that. As a matter of fact I told him I highly respected him because he feels so strongly about his position. There rest of you? I don't know. You all seem to like to rag someone when you don't read the whole story. Next time, look at the situation as a whole before making a judgment on someone.
