Other than that wonderful, wonderful moment Hasbro released the Coneheads for Universe, I think we can take this Scorponok as an indicator that a genuine Generations release is not in the immediate works. :(

Assuming they don't screw it up in some way I can't foresee, this is the best Botcon toy ever, right? The most exciting one at least.

Man. I already hand re-painted an Energon Scorponok to a more G1 deco, but I find myself wanting this anyway. Or at least wanting the head.

Damn. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to afford this AND the 2foot tall statue thing that's ludicrously expensive.

I could be convinced to buy a loose set. How much would that sell for?

I dunno, mine broke about a week after I got it and that sounds pretty Black Zarak to me. :-?

That mold aint that great. I bought it, kinda liked it, then didn't. Gave to my neighbors kid. The re paint thing isn't enough of a draw for me to consider getting this mold again. My G1 will do just fine till a 3rd party or Hasbro make a good Scorp.

I HAVE to tip my hat to BOTCON for this year's exclusive Transformers figures.

Not only did you make a character that was only in the G1 cartoon, DEVCON:

You also re-colored a very large figure into G1 Skorponok... WITH A NEW AND FUNCTIONING HEADMASTER ROBOT, that will also fit the original giving it a cartoon accurate head.

Bravo BOTCON, bravo!

i mean, to each his own, but i always loved the cybertron scorpinok mold. decently posable all around, giant friggin claws (that can actually grasp things) and his gun tail thingy. he was super fun.

actually, now half my excitement is coming from memories of how much i liked the toy itself

The Club charges a lot less for loose sets than they do the packaged boxed sets. BUT, the drawback is that they only sell loose sets to those members who already bought the packaged boxed sets, so you'd have to buy that on top of the loose set, thus making the loose set a pointless buy for anyone who just wants one of each figure.

On the secondary market, however, loose set prices all depend on the seller.

I really want that Scorp. I got Double-Punch recently and even before that had been asking for this repaint. If the new head is an actual headmaster then great, but i'll be plenty happy just for a Classics Scorponok.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

My initial shock over this reveal has worn off. Though I like seeing a proper Scorponok Headmaster, the mold of Energon Scorponok itself has never impressed me. I used to own the figure, but soured on it soon after I bought it. I am still waiting for the 5th figure, I just can't believe that they wouldn't save Scorponok for last if he indeed was the best figure. Also, other than Cannonball, every figure so far has been from G1, so maybe they haven't dropped the ball on the 30th anniversary concept yet.

I was thinking of Tornado as an arms micron. I guess technically he's a targetmaster.

Anyway, I don't have this mold, so maybe this is a stupid question. Will the changes they had to make to him to make him a Headmaster in any way affect his ability to transform into a jet?

And here are my guesses for the final knight:
WFC/Generations deluxe Soundwave as Shattered Glass Sir Soundwave
Cyclonus mold as Dai Atlas or Star Saber
Some mold used as Beast Wars Silverbolt

I think Soundwave is too small, even though he is a deluxe figure, and I doubt Cyclonus will be used, as his mold is used for Ferak. Hopefully, since it's a knight, it will be Voyager sized. Scorponok is technically Ultra Class. Right?

Yes, so there's room for a Voyager at the very most. Then again, E- Scorponok takes up a lot of space length-wise in Jet Mode, and has a lot of bulk in robot mode. It will be a very tight squeeze.

Make sense since the Wings Universe is a G1 universe.

WiseMan wrote:Anyway, I don't have this mold, so maybe this is a stupid question. Will the changes they had to make to him to make him a Headmaster in any way affect his ability to transform into a jet?
It shouldn't, since all they did with the Scorponok mold was replace its existing head with a new neck piece. The neck should fold in like the original head did, but the Olin Zarak Headmaster figure will probably have to be detached from the body first rather than fold in with it.

WiseMan wrote:And here are my guesses for the final knight:

They already did SG Soundwave in 2012, and he doesn't have the WFC Soundwave body so that wouldn't make sense.

Like Rodimus Prime said, the Cyclonus mold is already being used for Ferak.

Cybertron Snarl would be perfect for BW Silverbolt, but they aren't using Cybertron molds this year. Plus, this story still takes place in the era of Autobots and Decepticons, so I'm hardly expecting any Beast Era characters who didn't exist during then to be in this set.

Give poor Breakdown a rest!
They already gave us one.

Here's hoping for some 3H era homages, or even some things that 3H hinted at but never delivered on like Transmetal Fractyl. :D

Beast-era characters as either Knights or Pirates? :-?

I think I like the revisitation of previous 3H characters idea more.

I'm thinking possible repaints into 3H characters:

Generations Rattrap into Packrat
Universe Cheetor into CatSCAN
Generations Arcee into Roulette and Shadow Striker
Generations WFC Bumblebee into Glyph and Tap Out
Apeling from Cybertron Beast Optimus Prime

hmmmmm

TM Fractyl has already been somewhat homaged from Armada Terrorsaur. I could see Universe Cheetor being used for Ravage. Looking at the Knight symbol though, THIS guy comes to mind:

Image

Redone as Omega, maybe? They did say that the figures barely fit in the box this year.

Also just realized that minicon Heavy Load could be repurposed as Squadron X's Earthquake.

Yeah, the Cybertron Menasor mold has had the unfortunate honor of being officially disliked by the company who made it (Hasbro) and is likely to never see the light of day again.

A couple things regarding that. Doom is a Shattered/FunPub character. Since Hasbro "didn't like" the mold would just mean that chances are they won't use it again for anything thus giving FunPub a better chance of using it. I could see the mold being used twice. As Omega to battle Scorponok and again as Omega Doom sometime later given FunPub's love of the SG Universe. One new head (potentially) and 2 uses. Although a new head would nix my reason for using the mold in the first place. Also the chance of getting another Squadron X character (Earthquake) would fit with this year's set.
