It's probably the new site I'm using to host my pics (imgbb.com). They don't reduce the resolution like Photobucket or Flickr did. So you're waiting on a lot of 2-4k resolution images to load. I am the band width eater!

Sorry! When I quoted that post, there were just words and a youtube. I'll go chop it down to the image I like the most just so it's relevant

Cool cool, I was just giving you a hard time (we're on a new page now anyway). BC is super cool and a chunky lil munky. I need to take some pics of him and Seaspray.

Two reasons: primarily for a contrasting color scheme, secondary because BC is an animal/nature lover.

Mech Planet Hot Soldiers Soundtrack aka Soundwave #ontheroadwithswerve

Postby no-one » Wed Nov 22, 2017 1:42 pm

I can't remember if I ever posted pics of Mech Planet Hot Soldiers Soundtrack before. Anyway, this is a fantastic 3P lengend class figure. I'm pretty this is an original mold, it does bear a resemblance to DXP WiP Sonic Wizard, but seems mostly different. I mean you can only have so many variations of G1 Soundwave.

Image

Plastic quality is great with joint tightness just right. Paint apps are abundant and almost perfectly applied. The only thing missing was a Con insignia, but repro to the rescue (should I hastag that? #reprototherescue, nah too long). Transformation is almost straight up G1 with the weapons pegging to the back instead of being housed in the battery compartment, so a little MP ish ;) Again, like I said, you can only vary a G1 Soundwave boombox so much (I've started referring to the figure as mp Soundwave  ). The only down side is articulation, but mostly just the lack of a bicep swivel. A ball jointed elbow would have resolved my one and only issue with the figure. At $15 shipped, I won't complain though.

How bout some more pics? Everyone's favorite Minibot troublemaker Swerve tagged along for size comparisons. Of course hi-jinks ensued. #ontheroadwithswerve

HAHA, I just imaging Soundwave laughing at Swerve as he storms off after Laserbeak pounced on him. Swerve as always gets the last word when Soundwave wasn't looking.

He is definitely one of my favorite recent figures. I like him so much so I have mp Ironhide in my ready to ship PoL and mp Bumblebee in my pre-order PoL.

So I found that mp SW chest looked a little too dark with Laserbeak nested inside, so I took a silver Sharpie to him. Sharpies are a little too dull, but I'm happy with the results. I need to break down get some real metallic paint markers.

Just don't touch it afterward. I find the metallics stick pretty well, but can be taken right off with just rubbing alcohol or lighter fluid (and sometimes just plain old elbow grease).

Non metallics just rub right off like dry erase.

YMMV

Haven't been around these parts in a while, thought I'd pop in, and that's an excellent choice of images to wake up to. Nicely done!

The one thing that annoys me a little is how many very good looking Legends scale 3P figures there are out there. They're ideal for travelling and on the go photography, but I'm purging my whole system of third party items (and even a lot of first party, for that matter) so even that adorable IF Windblade is a no. Shame, but hey, that's how they get ya, right? I'll just go back to taunting Cobotron into buying more on my account. :-P

Them dinos will meander up that way once the snow melts, being cold energoned and all.

You know what, I wouldn't even get close enough to take a peek down that rabbit hole. The opening is soft slippery mud and once the slide starts, there's no stopping until you hit the bottom. I will say the Mech Planet figures are a very good jumping point as their price/quality is off the charts. It's not like the hurtful prices of Iron Factory and DX9 ;)

HAHA, good to see you around. I hopped you enjoyed the ride ;)^

As a IDW lightweight I gotta toss out a reference here or there.

I agree with the look and portability of smaller figs, I mean ask Swerve. I have noticed that most of my more recent official legend class figures have more articulation than Swerve. I'm too committed to the project, but those limitations do annoy me, specifically his head not turning. On the other hand, the more artsy side of me appreciate ls limits as they inspire creativity.

On that note, Soundwave looks good but has some severely limited articulation, but for $15 what can ya do? Once I get the mp Ironhide and Bumblebee I'll have a better idea what the Mech Planet line is all about.

I would advise all to avoid the OS KOs of the 3P legends; part of the novelty is their small size. While Sixshot is built great and really a lot of fun, he's an odd turduckhen. He is one of the few characters that work as a very large legends figure. I won't be getting any more unless they are around the 4" mark like Soundwave.

Purging eh, seems to be a trend here lately. Itscramtastic is all over the purge, Shajaki is considering slowing down, I've got a stack of figures I want to sell but I keep procrastinating and buying more toys.

I'd jump on that IF Windblade in a heartbeat if she was still available at a decent price (I missed my chance at BBTS). I'm still considering adding their Arcee to the PoL.

Adventures In The OS KO Rabbit Hole

Postby no-one » Sun Nov 26, 2017 11:44 am

So I couldn't say no to $4 (shipped) OS KO CW Powerglide.

Image
sticker by repro

So this is definitely the bottom of the barrel of KO toys. Not a bad toy, plastic is weighty enough and feels good in the had but it's overall loose goose and doesn't tab well. Either they are too loose or too tight. It's also showing some light stress marks after a single transformation. The figure looks much better with a nice big Auyobrand. I had the silver lined ones but I felt a nice white lined G1 sticker was a better fit. The good news is the guns are 5mm pegs, so the $4 juice was worth the squeeze. Honestly I don't really know what possessed me to order this guy.

Maybe just for the guns...

Maybe out of morbid curiosity...

But probably for this!

Image
I didn't know eyes rolling made a sound

Alright purist, get ready to roll over in your grave, an OS KO of a mainline legend class figure is going in my MP display

Bottom of the barrel? You must have a hell of a good barrel when it comes to KO's then? Never had the cheapo ones they sell in convienence stores and post offices then? Simplified, neon things usually? :P

I bought that Powerglide ages ago and liked it so much I bought another one soon after and both feel very nice quality and have good joints and no stress marks even after much transforming. It's one of the very few things that came out of Combiner Wars that I liked even if it's a KO of an official figure and the extra size is great. The 'gun mode' is still garbage but that's Hasbro's fault for forcing one out of a character never meant to be a gun. :P

Ok you got me. It's not a bad toy at all and has the same RNG QC issues as any official figure.

I normally don't by the rando rainbow dollar store figures. I forgot or blocked out the nightmare that is the OS KO legion Optimus Prime figure I got recently. That was a morbid curiosity purchase there.

Of all the other KO figures I have (which isn't that many) this is the shoddiest one, but it is by no means a bad toy. For $4 shipped, it's an amazing toy and an easy recommendation ;)^

Yeah, it was way cheaper than the smaller official, weaponless Hasbro one that was in stores at the time (KO being about £3.69 including free shipping compared to Hasbro's £10.99 in stores) which I found far too small anyways) and I mainly bought it as original G1 Powerglide was one of the first TFs I ever owned as a kid and wanted a good update to that dorky old thing. Poses so well and looks great with the guns. I'm not a big fan of G1-style but I really like this update of Powerglide. Thanks to Hasbro for the design and the KO folk for giving it some extra size. :P

I've changed my photo's bbcode from img to url so it doesn't clutter up your page. :)

Just wanted to dip my toe in on this convo folks, real quick.
the Red comet KO Glide is probably one of my fave KO purchases in the last decade.
Yes, the cheap shipped price is a factor and yes the plastic at times can feel like Kabaya rejects.
However the great scale, gun additions and accuracy made it a twice buy.

I now have 2 of him for my shelves.
1 to stand in on my MP shelf, until something official makes it out.
The 2nd is being repainted as a Nemesis Powerglide.
I keep putting off the last 30% to finish but it has been an interesting process nonetheless.

Just my 2cents but i am glad to see others enjoying him.

ADVENTURES IN THE OS KO RABBIT HOLE CONTINUES

Postby no-one » Fri Dec 01, 2017 2:45 pm

Neck deep now. I present the awesomeness of the OS KO CW Rook color variant.

Image
Image

Yeah, he's a big boy. The extra weight from the die-cast really drives that home.

Image
Image
Image

But this feels like the size Rook should have always been.

You know what they say about big feet...

Image
Image

Big shoes

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

And with his bigger size, comes bigger Rook hands!

Image

ROOK SMASH! :michaelbay:

Rook has a big backpack and when a figure has a backpack I always try and shove stuff in them. I can't believe I never though of this when I had the standard deluxe.

Image
Image

And finally I leave you with a question. I need to slap some Autobot symbols on this guy. Definitely putting one on the roof in the same place as the original, but I can decide for bot mode.

Image

So, go the hat route with a clear backed symbol? What about a silver outlined on one of his blue chesticles? Maybe a white outlined one on that large area of the upper combiner peg? Decisions and struggles :BANG_HEAD:

Halp PLZ, I haz stuck!
