I own one, actually. The Acer Aspire; 15.6". It's a pretty good notebook. A bit big and clunky to the point where it won't fit in my locker or backpack easily, but the actual hardware is good enough. I've found that the mousepad can be a little insensitive at times, but it's not to the point that it's a problem. Screen is pretty bright and colors come out nicely. I can run most games on it without any problem so long as I'm not playing, say, Mass Effect on super high-def. I have run into a problem where I've loaded so much crap onto it that it's gotten a bit slow, but that's a result of having lots of programs that I used for one specific thing then didn't bother to uninstall them. Overall I'd recommend Acer if you're considering buying one. They're generally reliable in my experience and when it comes down to it: they get the job done.

Thanks for the info. I'd only be installing Photoshop and possibly WFC, and I'd have only the bare essentials for anything else

I use my touchpad with all my games, including with Portal (1&2), Half-Life (1&2), Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Team Fortress 2. You can get the hang of it, actually. It's kinda easy for me after all of the games I have been playing with my Touchpad.

Maybe. You're not as bad as Red Alert though... Anyway, welcome to the RPG! It's always good to have new people. And nice quote. It's good to know you're already insane, 'cause now we don't have to convert you.

Oh don't worry about that. I've long since learned that insanity and questionable mental health is paramount for RPing. Obsessive researching sprees and constantly thinking about your character is just occupational hazard. I haven't even started yet and I've already covered both with Swoop. Also, it is sad when you learn more about physics by manically researching aerial combat maneuvers on Wikipedia than you do in actual physics class.
Snowy wrote:I'd be very careful about using a template from an existing character. Trust me when I say that it very rarely works out. I'm not talking about it being a bad character, not at all-- but I personally went through a rash of this creation method a few years ago. It was fun at the time, but later I look back and realize something:
There was absolutely none of my own voice in them.
It's fun to RP their antics and personalities at the time, but you tend to focus less on the RP and more on displaying your character's traits. I've seen it happen lots of times and out of the literal dozens of characters I've done this with, only ONE left me satisfied in the end. My advice: take what you love about the Doctor, but don't take the Doctor. Work with a concept and build out. Now, I know that most of these characters here are canon characters anyway, but the difference is that they belong in this universe. Sticking a fun character in another universe tends to end up with your character bleeding a bit of their world into the established world. It is much more fun and enjoyable to make an OC around a concept instead of a character, but if you really have your heart set on it, RP with vigilance.

You sure 'bout that?

Name: Timelapse/Paradox/Stopwatch/Chronos (Which one?)
Alt. mode: Police Box
Weapon: Sonic screwdriver built into right arm
The bio is basically the Doctor

Since his name will probably not be TARDIS because the TARDIS is a girl, if you haven't been watching, I would name him either Stopwatch or Timelapse. They both seem to fit the description of the Doctor, so either one would be cool.
So, wait, will he have the ability to travel through time?
Godzillabot Primal wrote:I haven't watched one in a little while. Thanks for the reminder!
He'd actually be a Maximal that stole a prototype experimental time machines and intergrated it into his system. Unfortunetly the system turned out to be more then a little tempermental and gave him some seriously unexpected side affects. Including: A teleportation sequence, flight, enhanced sensory systems and perhaps strangest of all, the ability to repear his body, but only when the damage is extreme.
He traveled through time and overall enjoyed himself, saving the Transformers time and time again without their knowlege. But using up most of his "regeneration" energy, since he is on his eleventh incarnation
But eventually he decided to settle down and confront his fear of being tracked down by any other future Maximals. He decided during __________ would be a good time to be in.
Ember wrote:Sorry to break the news to you but there are no, nor will there be any Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Animorphs or Crossovers characters in the RPG. The game is based, loosely, on the IDW comics, the G1 cartoon, with a bit of the G1 and G2 comics thrown in for a bit of spice.
So you'll need to rethink your character. But if you need help don't hesitate to ask one of the Mods or post your question here. There's no reason to struggle or pull your hair out just to come up with a character. Everyone is willing to lend a hand...at least I hope they are. Yes, I'm eyeing you Psychout!

LL I like the look of Perceptor with The Doctor.
But you kinda have to post links to the images, not the images in the RPG forums...![]()
Now I need a Rory character...
Maybe Fox could be Amy?

I'm open to mold ideas.

Oh, absolutely.
But seriously, don't stress about your application or your sample post or whatever. Everything will be just fine.
And don't forget--never forget--you're on the internet. Chill. Relax. Have fun. That's what it's for, right?

No, for me as a character.
