a question about Ratchet in the novel (non spoiler)

For those of you who have read the novel, is there any talk about Ratchet's new paint scheme or is it something to do with trying to get people to by yet another ratchet toy because that is the only difference?

There's very little talk about the characters' appearance generally, most likely due to designs not being finalized while the book was being written. Laserbeak is portrayed as if they don't know what kind of animal he is.
