Maybe Starscream senses a chance to wipe out all the Autobots that will likely come to earth at the request of Optimus Prime.If he knows that the Autobots are typically not fighters, and he happens to have few hit-squads on Cybertron, like he Predacons with Predaking, and the Combaticons with Bruticus. And they could go from there; a "Transformers: Genocide" sorta deal.
