Holy...

That transformation sequence (along with the overall design) just makes me think of GF/Cyb Starscream for some odd reason or another... *Shrugs.*

There is no odd reason, that was planned that way since the begining

but instead of the simpler sky garry transformation , I opted to do the "shoulder swivel" thing.

I don't see it... Seems to be pretty spot on to me, all things considered. (Mainly taking into account that this is a giant-arse ship which GALACTUS himself pilots.
