Have you studied Japanese? Do you know why the pronunciation of foreign words is different here?

It works both ways, you know. Foreigners have the strangest pronunciations of Japanese words like Karaoke, sake, and Gojira. Chances are, you probably won't run into a Japanese person laughing at you for saying it wrong, though.

To keep on topic, Grimlock's name in Japan actually IS Grimrock. It uses the symbols "Gu," "Ri," "Mu," Ro," a glottal stop, and "Ku."
Actually yes I do know why the pronuciation is different. I pointed that out in my last post: they try to cram the english language into their own & spit out the closest approximation. Grimlock was a name created in the English-speaking world, & instead of treating it as a foreign word/language & using English pronuciation & the Western alphabet to correctly portray his name properly, they used...well....the closest approximation. Grimrock (or Gurimuroku, as you pointed out) is a great example of the Japanese language sodomizing English.

Telling people to respect yours while not respecting theirs...that's called hypocriacy my friend.

I still don't think you understand. The sounds that make up Grimlock do not exist in the Japanese language. It would be impossible to say it the same way as Americans, Europeans, etc do. When an foreign word is imported into Japanese, its spelling and pronunciation are changed to better fit into the language.

I think the point is is that we know Japanese people say things differently because of their language adopting a word from ours. The point is, that sometimes there Japanification of the word is sometimes funny when they sy it back to us.

If a Japanese politician told me he was elected as an official due to an eRection, I'd probably start laughing. Yea, I know they swap Ls and Rs and that he meant election, but when he says one of my words in my language and it comes out to something that I was not expectng, but it was funny in the context, I'll laugh...just as they probably would do to me.

I've spent a very long time mangling the Japanese language and I have never, even once, had a Japanese person laugh at me for trying to speak it. They have either done anything possible to be helpful or been completely lost (my fault, not theirs).

What bothers me is when people go off on a TINY error like the "Grimrock" one. These people 999 times out of 1,000 couldn't write a single sentence in Japanese, yet they laugh at a minor typo. Compounding it by saying that the Japanese "sodomize the English language" doesn't do the poster any favors.
