The KO sixshot head looks better than Hexatron's. The wolf head has bigger fanged teeth.

I love my Hexatron but the bad head sculpt ruins the toy. I might be a buyer for the KO if it offers some better and different sculpted parts.

The Guns Hexatron came with are trully bad. So hopefully the KO guys create better ones.

There have been plenty of third party head and/or gun upgrades in the past, even for other Third party upgrades. If they just wanted to do that, fine. More power to 'em. Release heads and guns people dissatisfied with Hexatron's heads and guns can swap out.

Releasing those parts on a figure that is otherwise a carbon copy of Hexatron's mold is still a knock-off. It is like taking a pig, sticking it in a dress, and slapping some makeup on it. You still have a pig.

Head/Gun sculpts being bad are a matter of opinion. I happen to think they're great and in no need of change.
Agreed, Hexatron is fine the way he is, the head and guns look great.

Complaining about the KO stealers when your stealing from Hasbro is odd. it's having ethics to only suit you. I don't have the huge sums of money to pay for all these 3rd party combiners. So if a KO company can create them for a fraction of the price then I'll buy them.

When I saw that silhouette That had Motormaster,Sixshot & Overlord.
I assumed this 3rd party was creating more weapons & different parts to accompany the existing toys. Like creating all the accessories for overlord that the Generation one toy had. Perhaps more accurate guns for Sixshot. Maybe a better sword, gun & combiner pieces for Menasor.

Here's the thing though, they're not stealing from Hasbro. Hasbro does not currently have a Classics Sixshot on offering, it (the original Hexatron) does also not replicate an existing Hasbro design. It's close to Sixshot, but far enough removed to still be concidered a separate thing. This is essentially like buying an unrelated robot toy to fill a space in your collection.
It would be a different thing though with something like their HOS figures (which they seem to have let die by now), which are all based on existing designs owned by Hasbro.

What we're mostly complaining about here is that the company originally let it look like they would be doing original work, but now it turns out all they do is steal work from other fans and then claim them as their own.

MMC has been poring money and work into this thing for at least two years now. And it's not like the KO will be drastically cheaper, just look at the KO Classics Seekers or that Art Feather KO Bumblebee.

That's what we all thought and now it turns out we where mislead and are disappointed.

And since we're going down this path again:

Dead Metal wrote:OK, do we really have to do this every time a "grail" gets KOed? And I mean this in the sense that we repeat ourselves and our arguments over and over and over.

I mean I just found this thread, and it's from the time I wasn't even on this site from the time I was taking a break from all this. And while reading through it, I was convinced I've read the thread before. The same people, make the same arguments, with the same analogues.

If it weren't for the facts that there are a handful of, lets say "original" posts and that it's about KO Scorponok, I would have thought I've gone crazy and never left here.

These threads are always the same, the thread warns us that something big is getting KOed, the early posts can be summed up as "F**k", then some jackass applauds this news and cheers like it's f**king Batman beating up the Joker and saving innocents, then someone posts how this news totally ruins everything forever, which in turn pisses of the ones who seem to hate Hasbro and Takara and seem to only collect KOs because HasTak are assholes due to ebay prices. And then it all degrades into the same tiered old debate of why KOs are bad mkay, and why KOs are good mkay, with all the same points being brought up and debated the exact same way by the exact same people.

Looks like more remolded parts. This remold looks like a added jet nose cone. I like the box as it resembles the shape of the 2013 Hasbro MP TF Boxes. Hopefully they create different guns because the Hextron ones were weak.

I can sorta see it. In his alt modes, those guns work very well I think, but in bot mode they don't look nearly as good as the G1 guns, at least IMO. G1 Sixshot's guns looked like big, badass space rifles. MMC's look like big, badass space shotguns (and I'm not generally a big fan of bots with shotguns, but that's a personal preference obviously).

 yeah, I think I'm still butthurt about them not releasing him in the WfC color scheme :P.

Nah, really, I can't fully put my finger on it. I mean I was so close to buying this thing. I cancelled my preorder only days before it was released. It's just not quite there for me but I can't point to any one major thing and say "that's why I didn't buy it". It's just several small things that bug me about it. I don't want to be all anti-MMC or anything because I'm actually quite impressed by what I've seen, I think there are just little aspects of their designs that just don't quite work for me.

I had the exact same problem with their Predaking. I was soooo excited for it after seeing the initial spec drawings and teasers, but then I saw the actual figures and they just weren't nearly as "out there" with the designs as their initial teasers seemed to indicate, so I just couldn't convince myself to buy them. Then TFC shows up with theirs and it just blew me away. I have some odd tastes though, so it's understandable that I often make buying choices that aren't as popular as what others do (I'm also the guy that totally hates the FP Insecticons even though most collectors seem to love them).

I may eventually end up getting Hexatron someday though, maybe if he shows up on clearance for under $100. It's not that I can't afford the $135 it goes for now, I just don't quite have enough reasons in my head to push me over the edge to get him, and a simple price break might be just enough (but I'm not gonna buy this KO, if I decide to get a Hextron, I'll go for the real deal).

It's not about what's popular, it's about what you, xyl360, like! ;)

I've just been blown away by Hextaron, and Bovis, for that matter. The heft and size are great, and they're exactly what I was looking for in these characters. That's not going to be true of everyone. The fandom is not a monolith.

If you get him, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

In other news, G1 Sixshot reissue (the premium packaging/chromed out version) is only $120 on TFsource right now.

I have a soft spot for that toy because I had him as a kid and he has one of my favorite bot modes ever. Like I said, there are just a bunch of small things that bug me about Hexatron. I wish it wasn't so and with small tweaks here and there I'm sure I'd love him, but as it stands right now I'm just not interested in him enough to buy him.

What tweaks are you thinking of? Having had the toy for a while now, I can tell you that there are some amazing engineering accomplishments with it, and some sacrifices had to be made to accomplish all the modes.

I'd be worried about getting off topic, but the powers-that-be tend to allow tangents :)

Yeah, given that this appears to be a knock-off of a third party (at least until we hear otherwise) I think discussing the points of Hexatron would be warranted. Heck, maybe that leads to improvements in the KO. I still won't get it, but I don't think it's entirely off-topic.
