THe name Octane makes perfect sense for a guy who's job revolves around fuel. Tankor sounds like he'd be happier as a GoBot, hanging out with Coptor and Cy-Kill.

Cripes, man! What is all this whining aboout proportions. If you look at the original G1 Sideswipe/Red Alert, their arms are a lot skinnier. I mean, they look wimpy and 3 sizes too small. But they still look cool. And with G1 Sunstreaker, his arms were like Popeye. But his legs were like 2X4's. This new one sounds like it is a vast improvement, and just enjoy it for what it is. I mean, we are getting two transformations out of 1 figure here. That rocks! We haven't had a decent Sunstreaker and Sideswipe in YEARS. The Alt Sunstreaker looks screwed up in bot mode, and Sideswipe is only marginally better. With these now ones, it does both the characters justice, finally. Besides, I am sure he was not completely transformed properly either, knowing Hasbro's photographers. So, give him a friggin chance for crying out loud.

I was expecting something along the lines of a Classics Rodimus/Hot Rod(a vastly underrated figure, IMO) for Sunstreaker, so to see something more along the lines of Bumblebee, with different car parts forming a shell over a thin frame, was a bit of a letdown. Then again, I wasn't terribly impressed with BB when I first got him and now he's one of my favorites from the Classics line.

I think expectations have been set so high since Classics 1.0 became so popular and the rationale would be that Hasbro would get even better at updating G1 characters to the highly poseable, highly accurate figures that we have craved of these characters ever since 1984-1985. Are expectations unreasonably high? Probably, though I would hope Hasbro would recognize the Classics line would be some of the most coveted figures to be released in years.

So, I'll buy Sunstreaker and hopefully like him even more after I get more than just a picture that, yes, probably shows a mistransformed 'Streaker.

which is very ironic since in Beast Machines he (the original Tankor) WAS actually hanging out with a motorcycle named Thrust and later, a chopperbot named Obsidian takes his place!

interesting observation.

What's really freaky is I never watched Beast Machines enough to know that. Maybe after 20-odd years of TF obsession, I've achieved some kind of psychic link to the TF universes?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Toyfare Magazine has the picture of Sunstreaker posted on it's web site.

http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/ ... 455828.cfm

So does that mean the picture was released to the public or is Toyfare magazine being naughty?

I have to ask what the hell is up with thing on sunstreaker's roof in car mode and I hope it comes off so he looks more like the sunstreaker of old. Also what did magazine have to say was it the same info that was listed before or did they also include pictures of all wave 1 figures.

Now that the newest issue of the collectors club is out we can better discuss the 2008 Universe classics.

My opinion on them after seeing their pix...

Sunstreaker:(Deluxe class) looks awesome except for the engine that is on his roof. Move the engine to the rear and you you have a perfect fig

Powerglide: (Ultra class) His jet mode looks pretty decent however IMHO is bot mode looks like absolute crap. He is base color is gray with red trim.

Onslaught: (Ultra) One word... AWESOME!!!!

Prowl: (Deluxe) His alt mode looks pretty good, now his bot mode looks odd, I don't know if it is just another case of "mis-transformation" by Hasbro but something looks odd about the placement of his shoulders. If his shoulders go in he will be one of the best of this line (IMHO)

Tankor: (Deluxe) First, HASBRO CHANGE THE NAME TO OCTANE LIKE HE SHOULD BE!! The proto pix looks like it is mis-transformed as well but he still looks like a great fig. His tanker mode to mee looks a bit flat but his jet mode rocks.

Hopefully we should be seeing some pix of them properly transformed soon.

Oh, the club exclusive is a TF Energon Hot Shot repainted as Nightbeat.
Not that impressed with him until I see him transformed.. It would be nice if they figured a way to make him into a headmaster again.

And the Timelines Seacons make me glad that I have the G1 Seacons because IMGO the colors are horrible.
It is good that they are releasing them for those that are not fortunate enough to own their G1 counterparts.
Not a sheeple.

Two questions:

1) Is Powerglide's alt mode still an A-10?
2) What kind of car is Prowl?

I'm guessing Sideswipe was moved to the second wave so there weren't two of the same figure on the shelves since they will likely be packaged in their alt modes.

I still want to know who the others will be after the first wave. Hope Botcon will shed some light on that and the rest of the Animated lineup

AWESOME! Powerglide was one of my first/only TF's when I was little, so I've always had a soft spot for him. And the A-10 is one of my favorite airplanes. How many pics were in the magazine? Just one of each mold?

Thanks for the info!

Got my TFCC magazine yesterday, and I must say, the new stuff coming in has me excited :) - though I DO wish Hasbro's photography staff would learn to transform the TF figures properly. :-(

Prowl kinda reminds me a little bit of his IDW design, at least the vehicle mode, anyway. It's also nice to see Powerglide upgraded to something bigger, and Onslaught's awesome.

My only beefs, though, are that I'm still getting used to Sunstreaker's new head - it just looks a little odd - and judging by the TFCC's "joke" caption for Onslaught, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the rest of the Combaticons.
I got yer new Captain America right here!

I'm going to have to say that they have majorly mistransformed Powerglide in that picture. It's too bad too, because his alt mode is fantastic, but from the picture the robot mode is just not very good.

Onslaughts vehicle mode is MUCH different than what I was expecting. I was thinking it would be more boxy and longer.

Octane looks cool, his wings are short in airplane mode, but overall I think they did a good job on him.

I like Prowl, but once again I think there is something mistransformed on him too. His shoulders don't look quite right. They really need to send transformation instructions to their photographers, or start doing the photographs in-house.

I think Sunstreaker is my favorite so far.

Wah, wish it were worth me joining the club.

If they actually started shipping things over here (and didn't double-or-so the price) I would join.

As is, I can't afford the price they put on it.
