Oh Ag, there's no real discussion going on here.

First off, it would help if I had spelled it right. It's DOUGRAM, not Dugram.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fang_of_the_Sun_Dougram

I'm not familiar with the anime at all. My brother and I just had a few toys from the series when we were kids. There is another robot who I think is from the series called Soltic who is also super cool.

Dougram

We had this and a Soltic of the same type. These toys were B.A.! The inner skeleton was all die cast with awesome articulation and working hydraulics and cabling and stuff. Then you could put all the plastic armor and body panels on the inner skeletal bot. They were the DOPE! Not sure where they are now. I'd guess my brother has then in his collection. I dug a cool little diecast one out of Mom's attic a few weeks back. Same series as that Soltic Pic above.

His name is Big Foot. And SNAP Google! You are magic.
Here's the box he was in.
Image

Here's the toy.

I would have gladly taken my own pic, but he's chilling on my desk at work at the moment.

Edit: Take a closer look at the Dougram toy box ( 1st one I posted). In the lower right corner you'll see a familiar and favorite name to us all. Also the main licenser of the Dougram toys. ;)^
No wonder the toys were so dang cool.

Naw. Sorry if my sarcasm didn't come across. I like cannon hands. I think they're cool and funny. He's not a sentient being who needs opposable fingers and thumbs to solve problems. He is a war machine. A tank. Nothing more.

oh dear lord, rereading my quoted sentence I realize I let a "you" there that no longer works

For me, as the robot mode is my favourite part, I would preffer articulated hands. Also, my favourite pose for any figure is with their hands in a fist position as default.

I remember us talking about all those hands the micromen come with and the fists were the ones we both agreed worked best and were most versatile (granted, they do come with weapons so having the optino to hold them is key). While this guy is not sentient, he still looks the part enough to me to warant that same default fist pose.

Also, if you care, the knee claw/arms are also retooled in this bluer version.

Ah, yes. Another Anime where Battletech stole their mechs from (along with Macross/Robotech). That's probably why it looks so familiar to me. I gotta find some episodes...

I miss the 80s. Oh, and the best Golden Girl is Betty White, hands down. Might be her character hails from my neck o the woods. :-s

I'm in no hurry really. There is that dope super toy accy KO that HAS caught my eye, but I'm gonna wait it out. I think Takara will do a new deco. The KO would be cool, but I'd rather have the Takara one to go in my Takara Masterpiece collection. I like Takara. Always have. Since the 80s.

Haha, thanks! I dont really go out of my way though, there is a whole site there (fanmail.biz) and you basically mail to their agency and if they want they send the fan mail to their clients.

I havent done this in a loooong time. I sent out a bunch of requests in two year period and then got some back in the next 2 years since this stuff takes a while. The auograph request I ever got back was from Christopher Lee... a year ago

(for those who dont know, he was dead when I got his autograph in the mail and is also best known for playing Dracula so....)

After I pulled myself together, I took it to mean that he had answered a bunch of fan mail in the last year of his life and not all of it was sent out, and that eventually happened through his estate. That was pretty awesome (in a morbid way, but I take it, he wanted me to be happy, or else he wouldnt have answered me).

The craziest thing though was when I wrote to Steve Ditko, the reclusive creator of Spider-man. He took my letter very seriously and replied to me adressing some points, he didnt seem too happy (the guy is as old as Stan Lee). Its an odd letter, but hey, I now have Steve Ditko's autograph, so ... yay?
