Care to share some more pics of the new MP Bumblebee?

Just saying, Bumblebee now is my favorite character in G1. I just watched a bunch of season two episodes (that's where I'm at as I progress through the whole show/the first volume of season two), and when Bumblebee and Spike are playing arcade games in town it just doesn't get any better than that.

Do you know why or were you just asking? I've been wondering that myself.

I don't know. I figured Sabrblade or someone else who has all the answers might know a thing or two. Seems strange though. Does anybody or, can anybody own the copy rights to a number? It's one of Mirage's most constant and recognizable details. Maybe there is a real Indy car with that number?

I would think it's some kind of copyright thing. I would think probably can't trademark numbers but maybe the look of the numbers as a logo? Like the old 76 gas station logo.

I think you are correct Cary but I think it's the other war around on the trademark and copyright...copyright is for IP. Trademark is for logos/branding. So it is probably switched around because some racer is probably got that number trademarked as their logo currently.

You might remember me mentioning a while back that one of my oldest buddies was sent to Tokyo by the law firm he works for. He asked for a list and I gave him one. This is what he found.
Upon his return, I asked what I owed him, and he replied "Nothin'". :shock:

It took him a good two months to ship them out, but I didn't sweat it.
Never look a gift lawyer in the mouth, I always say. :lol:

I've only opened Smookscreen so far, but these lil Qs are really fun and neat.

Awesome stuff Cobs! Which Dinobots are those? I need to complete my dinobot collection. I only have FOC Grimlock which I think actually fits pretty well in my G1 inspired collection. What would you recommend for Slag, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop?

Those two dinobots are from a 3rd party company called Toyworld. They are really great and IMO are the best fit with the Classics aesthetic.

If you dig a bit you will eventually see the entire team, but wait, there's MORE! These guys are a combiner team as well. Autobot Genocide was nice enough to post a brand new pic of their combined form just today.

But over all the "Dinobot" question is a hard, and long debated one. So far Has/Tak has not given us updates on all the Dinobots. The FOC Grimlock is the closest we have come to a Updated G1 Classics/Gen style dino. And I agree he fits in great. I was kind of out of the loop for a while when that stuff was out, so I picked up the nice G1 deco that came in the Target exclusive AOE 2-pack. Great figure.
The Animated line put out some good Dinobots in really faithful G1 decos, but their aesthetic is very Animated. I just got the Takara repaint of Ani Slag (called Slug) and he is a neat toy but he well go on my Ani shelf. The Swoop from Animated is really cool (I don't actually have him) and I think he could fill in for a Clas/Gen Swoop really well.

There are a slew of 3rd party dinos out there. For me the Toyworld ones really struck a chord and are my first foray into the 3rd party world. FansProject makes some really nice looking ones too. Of course the down side is the 3rd party price. If you were willing to shell out the cash, I would recommend going after MP Prime first. A great toy that is not too difficult and pretty solid in construction. ( I saw your question over at Cary's

There is also that Platinum set coming soon of the AOE Dinobots done up in pretty nice looking G1 decos with really cool brand new G1 head sculpts.
Of course there is the wonderful MP Grimlock who is amazingly faithful to the G1 toy, but improved upon 10 fold. But, I know that's not a road you necessarily want to go down right now.

But if you really want my advice, patience. Hasbro will one day make them. So far I have stayed away from 3Ps, waited, and Hasbro came around. Examples - all the Legends class minis like Bumble Bee, Power Glide, Huffer etc. Also Combiner Wars.
When it comes to toys, dinosaurs equal flooded rivers of liquid gold! I truly believe that Hasbro is saving the Dinobot updates for a rainy day when they have run out of ideas. (and Bay is done making ugly roided out versions of them. :lol:

Great, thanks for the info! I'll look into the 3rd party stuff just for kicks but I'm not sure yet. Bumblebee did actually arrive about a week ago. I've been renovating my collection over the past few days so I'll try to post some pictures soon of Bumblebee in action. My Transformers collection is still really small but my Star Wars collection is pretty big (I've only recently branched out from SW over the past several months). I'll take some nice pictures and make a collection thread of my own tomorrow that way I'm not crowding out your collection thread too much.

I too had been collecting Star Wars over the last 20 years, not including my childhood. They are safely stowed away for the day the basement gets finished into the ULTIMATE COLLECT-O-TRON! :PRAY:

I am nervously shying away from the new stuff coming though. I just don't think I can handle it. :lol:
