Methinks I may need to read the new Micronauts series from IDW. I think it may be neat! And I'll get some "modern" background on the figures I got in that SDCC box set!!

My friend tried to tell me I needed Micronauts -- he's still hunting for Baron Karza! Do you have any of those?
So this is when the fiery rage of the Photobucket BS fills my every fiber. I could just point you to the page in the 'Tron were he lives, but at least your post nudged me to upload the pics for that shelf. Which is the beginning of the reconstruction. So, thanks for that Bod.

I do have Karza, and many other toys built on that magnetic body.

I grew up with Micronauts, but they were mostly my Brother's toys. He has all the original toys in his collection. The toys I have are mostly re-issues. A company called Palisades did a huge re-issue in the early 2000's, and Karza can still be found, but these toys were riddled with QC issues. So much so that I think it put Palisades out of business. And the sucky part is that it was the subcontracted factory's fault.
Baron Karza and his horse are some super dope robot toys!
I could give you an awesome history lesson about this toy and it's origins, but only if you REALLY want to know.

In terms of new Hasbro Expanded Universe stuff, you honestly couldn't do better. Micronauts is arguably the best of the non-TF IDW Hasbro stuff

Same Kurona! I've been wanting to read a new series.
And you can bet yer 'Bots I wanna know, Cobo! Baron Karza looks like a total late 70s/early 80s BAD ASS -- my kinda bot. It's too bad the reissues had poor QC.....but the pics I found of him varied, making me think a reissue happened. I certainly would have had no clue about the QC, but want to know more!

Well bodsy, this just happens to be my favorite kind of thing in the world. Old Takara stuff and the diaspora it spawned.
Soooooooo....
Mego was the company responsible for licensing and importing Takara's Microman line in the form of Micronauts, but beyond just Microman toys, Takara had a few other goodies that Mego liked and wanted to use to bolster the Micronauts line.
First off being this toy.

Jeeg! Now Jeeg is an old Japanese super robot who's manga goes as far back as the 60's. I think.
But Takara didn't have the right to license out Jeeg himself. So they offered to sculpt him a new head and change his colors. Which lead to

Baron Karza and Andromada (his mighty stead)
Mego liked this so much, they asked for more. Which lead to
The "Good Guy" version, Force Commander and Oberon
Due to the awesome modular swapability of there magnetic joint system (MAGNO-POWER) and the popularity of the toys, Mego also released...

Emperor
and...

Megas
As well as...

Red Falcon
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think Red Falcon might be a re-appropriation of another preexisting Japanese Manga character.
And in doing this little bit of research for the pictures, I've discovered there were other Magno-Power toys I was unaware of.

Green Baron, and perhaps Red Baron? And, their weird alien horse beast things.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!

I now want ALL THE MAGNO MICRONAUTS -- but especially Emperor and Megas! They look so cool, and with MAGNO-POWER, I can't imagine there's much wear & tear on their joints....but the paints could get scuffed up, I imagine.
Unfortunately, if these ever showed up in our local vintage stores, my friend would want 'em too. We have a friendly TF rivalry as well, after all.
It makes me wonder about all the other wonderful Takara toys I've missed out on over the decades -- so many rabbit holes to go down, so little time & money, Cobo. Thank you for the pics & background!

My pleasure bodswell! Really, this avenue is my most favorite part of my collection. I love old Takara toys and all the history behind them, and the other things they spawned.
And just for shizzles and gizzles, and because you got me all inspired, here's my Magno Power collection at a glance.

Palisades Karza and Andromada, Emperor joined with Megas, Takara reissue of all black Jeeg, Palisades Red Falcon, and a mash up custom Karza made of two Palisades Karzas who's QC was bunk. But it spawned a neat custom! (the circuitry inside are remnants of the over print on old sticker sheets)
If you want to know about old Takara stuff you can always find me here.

And again, thanks for the little nudge to start this arduous process.

Phukcholebucket brought this on themselves. You're not targeting a member, or even a person, you're aiming it squarely at quite possibly one of the dumbest internet websites in existence.

Cobo, seeing that melting pot of vintage Takara & Transformers was truly a beautiful sight to behold -- I mean, I wish I could come over, crack a beer and seriously gush over all those figures! As you rebuild your gallery of those gems, I'll be eagerly awaiting to see more.
That custom Karza is a beauty -- I hope you don't mind that I share that pic with my bff -- he'll die from awesome-overload.
