So I gotta be honest. I'm starting to feel a little burnt out on TFs lately. I think I needed a little mental/emotional break from TFs, and who knew it would come in the form of returning to my roots? My first love, Star Wars. The Force called to me.

So I answered the call.

I have been eyeballing the LEGO Star Wars buildable figures since they were first released, but I was able to resist them due to the fact that there were always some TFs that took priority.
Well, on a whim I picked up the K-2SO figure.

Image
OMG! this figure is absolutely beautiful! this build just captures the character perfectly. His proportions and posture are just perfect. And he looks so good constructed out of these Technic pieces. Not to mention he's HUGE!

Well, after putting him together, the flood gates were opened, and in true OCD plastic crackhead style many more sets have followed in just a short time.

The Sith Lord himself.
Image

And his crew.
Image

The Storm Trooper is so spot on. And cooler yet is the option to omit the Commander poldron and rebuild the blaster rifle into a standard issue blaster, to have a plain infantry Trooper.
Image

Some of the first run figures are getting harder to find already, but the one I'm really after is Obi Wan in Clone Wars armor. I haven't tracked him down at a price I'm willing to pay, but the Force tells me I will. In anticipation of Ol' Ben, I picked up Commander Cody.
Image

The real trick here is that these sets carry a heavy cost, but I have found all of these on sale somewhere or another, so I will continue to hunt for the best prices I can. The builds on these very in difficulty, but all are as fun as can be. And once built, you end up with a beautifully stylized, highly articulated action figure that are pretty hard to beat.

Yesterday I found Phasma with a decent discount.
Image
I'm not all that interested in the characters from the newer movies, but Phasma just looks so Phantastic. with that silver armor and that cape, I had to scoop her. I can easily head canon her into Vader's elites.

So that's where my cracky head has been. Swirling with the Force. 8-}

While I have zero interest in collecting SW stuff. That K-2S0 looks damn good!

The others ... aren't too bad.

I think it's time Cobes got some Metal Earth stuff.

It's very odd for me especially as a Bionicle fan to see this sort of thing applied to humans. Which, really, is why it works so amazingly well for KS20 and to an extent Darth Vader. They're already robotic so it's perfect for them

That's funny you mention SW, Cobo, cuz I almost picked up some today! They were smaller figures from the upcoming Last Jedi, however.

Is it cool to get hyped for dat? ;)

I totally 100% agree with y'all on the fleshy organo-humanoid type characters. They don't look great. But all the armored and robotic characters rock this style really well. Obi Wan is the exception for me.
A. He has armor.
B. His head sculpt works thanks to his handsome beard and superbly manicured hair.
C. He is my all time favorite SW character.
D. I have close familial ties to the notion of him wearing Clone armor. At which this time I can not divulge the details. ;)

The only other one I think looks decent is scavenger Rey. Because her head is wrapped in scarves, hat, and goggles. They should have totally given Luke a cape and cowl.

Burny, are Metal Earth the cool metal models of TFs and junk. Those look great to me, but I've never seen them anywhere. To lazy to order them online. Or maybe just not interested enough. I might bite if I found them in person.

Bodsworth, It's totally cool to hop the hype train. I kinda want the 3.75 old man Luke just because I like the idea of him being a crotchety old man like me now.
I don't love the new story line, and am not a huge fan of Stephen J.J. Abramsberg, but even I can't help but get a little hyped about new Star Wars even if it's just to be in that world for a little bit.

Next week I will be getting a huge fist full of Star Wars action. We're taking the Tronettes to Disneyland for their birthdays! :KREMZEEK:

Oh shiii, Disneyland! I can't wait to take the Baby-Bodyrockers since they love theme parks -- haven't been there since the Indiana Jones ride almost 2 decades ago (!). But I'd love to see the SW and Marvel stuff they got now. I figure when we're finally ready to take 'em, we'll stay at the Disneyland Resort and do the park over several days.

When I was a kiddie, it'd be one (day) and done, long lines and all! I'll definitely wanna hear how it goes, CoBro. :)

Ah Star Wars, I'd like to say it was my first love but it's definitely my most important one. The Lego buildable figures are really neat but I've only dipped my toe in with Kenobi and Greivous. They were cool but I didn't see the point in getting them since I collect the action figures. You know you'll have to go back once they have Star Wars Land built.

Oh man, we are so excited! We are totally doing a 3 full days at the park and hotel. My Brotron actually works for Disney, so we probably couldn't make this trip happen if it weren't for his credentials. Wifeotron has never been, the Tronettes have never been, and my Momotron hasn't been since the late 70's. I've been several times in my life, but always one and done. This is gonna be awesome!

The only thing that could rival my TF collection is my 3.75 SW collection. I stopped collecting about the time the 3D Clone wars series hit the shelves. I was so gung ho on the world of 3.75 it was easy for me to stave off all other toy lines like Lego, Micro Machines, etc. So I get that overlapping lines could be pointless. Or excessive. But I've been out of the game for so long that something about these figs struck a chord. Plus they scratch two itches. Lego and Star Wars.
I have no plans to jump back in to 3.75, but I will admit that the Force is compelling me to pack up a few shelves of TFs and set up some sweet SW displays. That poor collection has been binned for years. Although when I moved to Omaha 5 years ago I had a dope Clone Wars and a 1st trilogy shelf going, but then TFs pulled me in hard.

In fact, here's a couple photos. Just for fun.

Ahh Star Wars.... I never knew much about it until POTF was ab out a wave or 3 strong. I saw the toys and movies thanks to a brother in law, and it was quite the ride after that! I bought everything the line had to offer till about AOTC... I think I was heavily back into TF's at that point.

I see things every now and then that I want to get, but put them down 99% of the time. In the end, they can't pull off more than a handful of poses which bugs me. But I very recently nearly fell down the rabit hole with the Figuarts Last Jedi figures revealed. They look amazing and are posable as HAYELL. But then we're talking like 50-60 bucks a pop for one figure, so.... I thought I better step back

At least with TF's, the play value is much greater (IMO of course). And this SW treck is pretty much the same reason I don't collect Marvel Legends figures either. Posability is there, but the quality isn't great and their prices are so outta whack for what they are.

I'm happy to stick with TF's :D

I've got the Commander Cody of those figures, and I fricken love him. I'd like to get Vader and Fett, but TFs take priority at the moment.

Speaking of Cody, did you guys know that Cody is the strongest character in all of Star Wars fiction? I can tell you why if you ask.
