Especially Megs, as this kind of sub-consciouisly fits his personality...towering over the other D-cons, intimidating and looking down on them in scorn LoL...if they were the same size (or egads, even shorter, in which case you would get like a "Rudy" complex) it wouldn't convey the "statuesque-ness" of the Megs and OP.

Yea, thats fair. Either way, theres more leeway for Megatron, imo, than prime. If I had a classics Prime and no megatron yet, this would easily be my first Megs. But having WFC prime in my collection makes it a tough matchup, haha. Prime is boned.

OMG,This thing looks more awesome,with every newer reveal pics.

I REALLY want this thing,it looks leaps & bounds better than both the MP & Classics version.

I love the arm canon & the riffle gun extensions. the ball & chain weapon is super cool.

I'm gonna buy this when it get released. i'll probably wind up pre-ordering it,so it doesn't sell out & i have to resort to paying scalper prices for this thing.

I'm still not liking the weird looking energon sword not pick ax. the pick ax feels like it should go to generations/RTS deluxe Straxus.

Agreed. Assuming he has the standard 5mm fist holes, I'm going to give him the large sword that came with the PE Kingbat figure

I disagree, and think this is actually cartoon-accurate. Megs was (at least as far as I can remember) portrayed as being taller then OP, being the "more powerful" brother of the two, which actually makes this scale relatively cartoon accurate.

A depiction of Megs being shorter than this would actually leave me disappointed, as that would make Megs on scale with most other Decepticons and wouldnt make him seem very "leader-like" when standing among, say, the Hercules constructicons or a size-acurate Soundwave (whose toy was always toweringly tall).

While I agree that I like the idea of Megatron being taller than Prime, I think a whole chest and head taller is a bit much.

Trying to like this but still can't, for the following reasons, all my opinions obviously, which may or may not represent fact:

1) the transparent upper arm joint thingies
2) too tall for classics, too small for MP
3) dreadful looking gun grip
4) too G1 - the whole reason I like the 'classicverse' line is that, for the most part, the figures have received an update more in keeping with the world as it is now, a reimagining if you like, without losing the essence of the original. I don't see the point in being that faithful to G1, especially if the resultant 'look' is not in keeping with the intended toyline.
5) he looks like one of the 'old fat guy or strongman' guys from family guy, with his barrel chest
6) Sword is just WTF
7) his lower legs are like Alice the Goons from Popeye

Anyway, I guess that's one more figure available for everyone else who wants it!

The more I think about it, the more I believe the transparent upper arms will be a problem.
Animated deluxe Megatron also has transparent upper arms and mine show heavy signs of wear, although I've been super careful with it.
I fear that's going to be a deal breaker for me, those parts will look real ugly due to all the wear and cracks you'll get to see. I would rather have painted eyes without light-piping than an expensive toy with shredded upper arms.

Just recently we reported the first colour images of the upcoming Hegemon figure, aka insanely cool 3rd Party G1 Megatron, and now we can give you a price and better size comparison shots.
An online store by the name of 3rd Party store has posted a pre-order page for this figure, including new images! Just click any of the images to get to the pre-order page.

The figure is slated for a June 2012 release, costs $99, weighs 1KG (roughly 2 punds), is 19 cm tall and comes with a previously unknown pick axe.

Taking from previous pictures, My guess is that his sword splits into pieces, and makes different combinations. That pickaxe is part of the sword. At least, I think so.

$99 Aint bad.

Assuming his production run is at least as good in appearance as these teasers, and:

1. quality materials (NON-cheap, "heavy" plastic)
2. no major QC issues

I am totally already on board for this...at a hundred bucks easily worth the most quality Megs we have seen in a LONG time.

Personally i never really the 3rd party figures, not interested in getting the insecticons or primes etc...

But... THIS I WANT TO GET!!! he looks awesome but im a bit concerned about the size of him he appears to be half the size of the MP prime so he would be just smaller than galvatron??

He looks pretty good. I'm not to worried about the scale thing, scale has never really bothered me. Really the only things I would change are the clear plastic and maybe find a better way to hide the trigger on his back.

Takara Masterpiece line,listen well and take notes. This is how a potential Masterpiece Megatron 2.0 can be done. And just to get this out of the way,here are some Masterpieces I would go shoot for next.....

-Soundwave+all the cassettes.i.e. Ravage,Laserbeak,Frenzy and Rumble
-A REAL Ultra Magnus and not just a crummy repaint of Optimus Prime,so help you Primus!!!!
-Galvatron-Rodimus needs a bad guy to bitch abo-Imean kick his ass with.
-ANY Citybot such as Metroplex and Fortress Maximus

Come on, they have to know that the one picture every fan wants to see is him next to classics/henkei Prime. Make it happen!

As for size, I have my FP insecticons right next to my classics Megatron and it does appear to no be too far off from the size of the classics version.

damn it !! i was really hoping he would go in scale with MP-10. I really wish Takara would make a Megatron that looked like he didnt have skinny legs or at least have better articulation

Really impressive. I'm pretty happy with my United Megatron (and his G2 incarnation, Classics Megatron

) so I'm not sure I'll be dropping $99 on it, especially considering the amount of other 3rd party characters I need to catch up on (Fansproject Insecticons and Maketoys Giant, mostly). I guess it depends mostly on plastic quality and any mold issues once people start getting their hands on him. Still though, top-notch from what I can see here.

Hmmm. So he's not Masterpiece size for either Prime... I wonder if there IS a Prime that he pairs up with well. I'd like to see a comparison pic with Classics Prime.
