Orbital Bounce Pad

The empty chamber emitted a brief alert to warn any one present that an incoming traveler was about to arrive. A few seconds later there was a burst of energy as the pad activated and received the new arrival, a massive, heavily armoured and broad mech now stood on the pad. Two large cannons were attached to his back, his body covered in thick, dark green coloured armour plating. His features were non existent, the lower have of his face covered by a plate, and his optics sealed behind a crimson red visor. The large figure looked around and noted, with some disappointment, there wasn't even a token security presence here to take note of any new arrivals such as he. He was rather surprised to find such severe inefficiency for a command that had Lord Megatron's direct attention.

He walked off of the pad and over to the rooms control terminal and punched it up.

"Activate duty log." He spoke in a deep, menacing voice. "Baneblade submitting his duty station transfer to the Earth operation. Submit notification to current duty officer in command that I have arrived and awaiting further orders. I can be contacted at Lord Megatron's, or a senior officers leisure. End duty log entry."

The terminal beeped to acknowledge that his log entry had been accepted and had been passed along to the officer at the command centers security terminal. Likely Soundwave. Baneblade thought, considering that both he and Megatron were on world he doubted anyone else would even be allowed near the security systems.

Although he was now at his new station Baneblade had yet to receive any orders, something he was not accustomed to. Considering his specialty in analyzing the indigenous civilizations of an infiltrated world he assumed he would begin to study the complex world, and the operations on this station were also oddly classified for the rest of the Decepticon army to view. This meant he had to go gather his own information so he would not be caught unprepared for his eventual briefing.

He turned to the rooms door which slid open with a hiss, and Baneblade was in time to see Ramjet being escorted by both Frenzy and Rumble. The new arrival looked around confused and spotted just down the corridor a gathering of Decepticons around the entrance to what appeared to be the facilities medical bay. In need of information he lumbered down the hall way towards the group and he stopped in front of them, his wide bulk almost taking up the entire hall way. He folded his arms over his broad, armoured chest as he looked down at the shorter mechs.

"I have just arrived on this world. It appears you are recovering from a recent engagement, presumably with Autobots. I require information on the current activities of this command, you will provide them to me immediately."

“Nanite? Who you callin’ nanite you overgrown slaghead? I ain’t the one stupid enough to be flying around on some tour while the base is under attack!” Rumble snapped back at Ramjet.

Frenzy just let out a chuckle. “You’ll be lucky if there is a nanite sized scrap of you left after Megatron is done with ya. Makes me miss the melting pools. Man, those Autobots would just yell and scream in those things till there vocal centers finally dissolved.”

“Oh yeah! I remember that. We used to take bets on how long it would take before they shut up.”

The two cassetticons continued to lead the conehead through the base, chattering back and forth about the old days, pausing just long enough to taunt the other Decepticon. Finally they arrived in the command center. Rumble rushed up to Megatron. “Here he is boss, just like ya asked for.” He then scurried off to the side to join Frenzy as they eagerly awaited wait was to come.

Megatron looked down coolly at Ramjet. His features remained neutral and unreadable, save a slight flash of his optics as he spoke. “Ramjet, explain your absence from this base that you were just now returning from?" He already had a good idea of what the answer would be and he already knew how he would respond to it. He kept up with the theatrics for the sake of the other Decepticons. Another example would have to be made and, due to his rapidly deteriorating patience, it would be a harsh one.

Skywarp shook his head at Thundercracker’s suggestion that Darkride could avoid his trap. “No way, ‘Cracker. I set up a spray nozzle directly above his chamber’s doorway on the inside. It has a motion sensor so as soon as he walks in, he’ll be drenched in neon paint that I mixed with a sticky adhesive! He won’t be able to avoid it. He has to re-enter his chamber sometime. I just wish I could be there to see the look on his disgusting face when it happens.”

Skywarp then listened to Thundercracker’s comments about how the teleporter was a womanizer in the past, suggesting that was the reason ‘Warp couldn’t get anywhere with the femme seekers. “Perhaps, ‘Cracker. But I gotta be me! I ain’t gonna change for no femme. And as far as Nightraven’s sister is concerned, there’s no way I’m going anywhere near that crazy glitch! Hellion’s berserker rage is quite a sight to behold and something I don’t want to have to deal with. Forget it. If she’s my only option than I’d rather stay single.”

Skywarp then smiled as he saw Ramjet being led away by Soundwave’s little minions. Before he could say anything more to the conehead, a giant shadow was suddenly cast down across him and his blue friend. ‘Warp peered up to see the massive Baneblade standing over them, demanding to know the current situation here on Earth. The huge mech was an intimidating sight and his voice was equally deep and threatening in comparison.

Skywarp swallowed hard and looked over at Thundercracker. “So, you wanna take this one, buddy?”

Ramjet had done his best to avoid the situation he'd found himself in, but events had conspired to put him just where he didn't want to be, locked in the targeting reticule of Megatron's baleful optics. Still, trying to be sneaky and evasive had a lot to do with this particular mess - first sneaking off to begin with, and then trying to avoid letting his superiors know what he'd done. Now it was time to man up and face the music... but, a bit of spin probably wouldn't hurt.

"Just showing a bit of initiative Mighty Megatron," Ramjet replied. "And, not the type of initiative that results in an unfortunate accident for someone," he added giving Starscream a meaningful look. The seeker commander was notorious for his plots, many of them directed at Megatron himself, and Ramjet was sure turning a bit of the supreme commander's ire towards Screamer would help his standing with Megatron. If he could pull it off that is.

"Since, as usual, my immediate superior had no use for his troops if there wasn't some glory involved, I had to occupy myself. I decided the cause would best be served by going out and sowing a bit of discord among the flesh bags. I left here disguised as an American jet and crashed a Chinese passenger airliner over the Pacific Ocean. I never surpassed Phase Three of the Infiltration Protocols milord, and returned to base undetected. It may not have been a sanctioned mission, but it furthered our goals, and I don't believe my absence compromised our overall ability to defend the base. I apologize for the error Mighty Megatron, and if you feel it deserves punishment I'll take it, but my goals were those of the Empire."

Ramjet squared his shoulders and locked optics with Megatron, waiting for the commander's response and doing his best to ignore Starscream. Playing off of Screamer was a gamble to say the least, but considering the history between Megatron and the seeker commander, Ramjet thought he had at least a possibility of making it work.

"Why always me..." Thundercracker sighed out loud as Skywarp more or less forced him to give the report to this hulking newly arrived Decepticon. He did not feel as much threatened as he felt frustrated and wary of this mech's reputation. He had heard of Baneblade. This mech was dangerous but not in the way most would think. When it came to to the threat of physical violence, Baneblade wasn't quite like some of the other Decepticons already in the base. But Baneblade wasn't the hulking brute he seemed to be, no the amount of trouble he could get the two seekers into was far worse than a threat of physical violence. It was better to play along now as Starscream wasn't around.

"Well Baneblade was it? This is the Infiltration cell #73-3 led by Starscream until lord Megatron arrived personally to take the command over only about a mega-cycle ago. Since then things have escalated. Shockwave and the Dynobots where discovered by some inhabitants of this world and a mission was commissioned to capture them from the fleshbags. Autobots got involved and managed to secure the Dynobots while we freed Shockwave. Then Shockwave was sent somewhere by Megatron with the Predacons in tow while we were commanded to raid a platform the flesh creatures use to drill some unrefined carbon based fuel from the depths of oceans. During the mission we caught an Autobot hostage whom was recently freed by covert unit of Autobots who somehow got past Soundwave's security grid." The blue seeker explained. "That's pretty much it in a nutshell. I do not have the rank to access more detailed data records. Command likes to keep their secrets to themselves."

Lab Facilities

Scrapper waits patiently for Hook to methodically and exactingly prepare his samples, and hands a piece each to Mixmaster and Scavenger. He then took the other two to the energon convertors that had been prepared before the excursion. We fed pieces of the remaining samples into the equipment, both normal and adjusted, and watched to see the results.

The unmodified collectors very quickly began to melt. The energy conversion happened too fast, the condensor overloaded as it struggled to liquefy the energy. But Scrapper had anticipated this. The second set faired better, only two shut down from the complex reactions. Three convertors produced almost-pure Energon, and in reasonable amounts for a mineral. But the last convertor, made on a hunch from schematics Scrapper had never thought he'd use again, produced a liquid that was like a dream.

Scrapper held up the microcube, gazing into the glowing contents with a rarely-felt sense of wonder. Then he flipped his comm.

>>Scrapper to Soundwave. Inform Megatron that our investigation is complete, and I have something to show him, that I expect him to be most pleased with. I will arrive at the command center shortly.<<

He turned to the other Constructicons, noting that Long Haul had wandered off to find something else to do. Not important right now. "Continue the analysis on the remaining samples. I want to be absolutely sure. This could be the most significant find we've made in the past thousands cycles." With this, he walked off to find his leader.

Baneblade watched in silence as he peered down at the two Seekers before him. He was unsurprised when Skywarp nervously passed the burden of his demand for information on to Thudnercracker, the black and purple Seeker was far to much of a coward to confront a physically intimidating individual. Thundercracker on the other hand showed no such sign, instead he looked Baneblade in the optics, something the larger mech respected. He always had a high regard for Thundercracker, where as many Seekers were arrogant and carried themselves with an air of self importance, this one did not. He was to intelligent for that and understood situations far better then most. To be honest Baneblade never understood why Starscream had not promoted Thundercracker to be his second in command, he was far more competent the many of his ilk, well liked and respected by other seekers, and the rest of the Decepticons a like. Though, the big mech figured Starscream's vanity wouldn't allow it.

"Interesting." The strategic analyst rumbled. "For an operation that has been conducted for this long, with this level of resources I am somewhat surprised at what little has been done. I had expected by this point that at least low level military strikes would have taken place to begin global destabilization. With Lord Megatron's presence I had believed he was here to get things on track." He rest a hand on his chin as he thought. "Perhaps this is why my presence has been requested. This world by far more complex the previously thought."

Without saying much more Baneblade turned and began to walk away. His mind was churning with possibilities and plans, of course he could only make base line conclusions given he had not yet spoken to his superiors and had not been granted access to the information he needed.

Command Center

Starscream stood off to the side as he watched Megatron deal with Ramjet and Darkride. Needless to say he felt mitigated by the whole thing as not even once was he even asked for his input. Of course he wasn't totally surprised either, it wasn't like Megatron truly cared for the opinions of others, and Starscream was high on that list to boot. The Air Commander merely kept an impassive look as he observed.

Megatron silently stared down at Ramjet as he pleaded his case. His optics never left the other Decepticon even as he tried to implicate Starscream in some of his actions. He was surprised and perhaps a bit impressed by how articulate the other Decepticon was. Oh, it was no great speech or necessarily convincing. Ramjet had gotten bored and flown around until he found something amusing to ram into. Still, his excuse was better than he had expected from him. Still, that did not mean he would escape unscathed.

Soundwave perked up in his seat as he received the message from Scrapper. He sent a brief acknowledgement back to the Constructicon. He didn’t particularly want to interrupt his leader now, while he was likely irritated and in the middle of delving out punishment, but it seemed important enough. Delaying the information would likely prove worse.

“Megatron, Scrapper signals testing on specimen complete and results are of high interesting. The Constructicon leader is on his way to the command center now for debriefing.”

Megatron glanced over at Soundwave. “Good. When he arrives tell him I will return shortly.” He stood up from his throne and walked towards Ramjet. “Come with me Ramjet, I have a new assignment for you.” He then walked out of the command center, assuming that the other Decepticon was following him.

A snickering and chuckling Rumble and Frenzy did scamper after him. Soundwave knew the two of them hadn’t been set loose for some time and likely had the urge to move around a bit. He also knew that save himself Megatron was one of the few Decepticons who could keep them in line with mere words. It would be best to let them have some amusement now then to have them sneak off on their own to cause trouble later.

Ramjet did his best not to cringe as Megatron left his throne and approached. Even at his best and most jovial, the supreme Decepticon was the incarnation of violence - violence restrained by the thinnest of tethers. Unfortunately, Megatron's mood was far from jovial at the moment.

Megatron approached, then turned to the side, commanding Ramjet to follow. The coneheaded seeker breathed the proverbial sigh of relief and fell in behind the commander.

"As you command mighty Megatron," he said, doing his best to ignore the patter of footfalls that indicated that Rumble and Frenzy were following as well. That couldn't be good. The two casseticons were nothing but trouble, and he was sure they were only coming along to torment him. Still, he wasn't in stasis lock, and Megatron hadn't rejected his suppositions about Starscream out of hand, so he considered himself ahead in the game for now.

Megatron continued silently walking down the corridors of the base. Hopefully this would be the last time he would have to mete out punishment against any Decepticon on this base. It was obvious they had been away from true command for far too long, but he was slowly bringing some matter of discipline back to them. With this last display it should keep them all in line for some time to come.

The Decepticon leader stopped at the main entrance at the base. He was pleased to see Blitzwing there guarding it as he had instructed, but he did not allow it to show on his face. He turned to face Ramjet as he pointed at the decent sized dent in the door. “Would you care to explain this Ramjet? No, never mind, I’m not particularly interested in hearing whatever excuse you have for this, but I will help you repair it.”

Megatron reached over and grabbed the seeker by the back of his neck. He lifted him off of the ground to look him right in the optics. “But I will assist you in repairing this damage.” He swung Ramjet around, slamming his hard head into the dent, using him like a hammer. “You are a weapon, a tool in my arsenal Ramjet.” Megatron slammed him into the door again. “You will be used as I see fit, as I plan. I give you a target or an assignment and you complete it.” Again he used the conehead as a hammer. “Tools and weapons need a hand, an intelligence to guide them. They do not go off on their own.” He slammed him one last time into the dent. He then raised him back up to optic level. “For you that intelligence is me. In the future you will go off on missions I decide for you, not what you decide for yourself.”

With a slight smile on his face Megatron glanced back at the dent in the door. “There, you see, with my guidance you have successfully hammered the dent out of the door.” He released his grip on the other Decepticon and looked over at Blitzwing. “Take this fool to the repair bay to have his cerebral circuits examined. His head is only so hard after all. After that consider yourself relieved of this guard duty you consider so distasteful.”

Rumble and Frenzy had watched the entire scene unfold in front of them, much to their amusement. Both of them were cackling with glee. “Oh man, that was great!” Frenzy shouted. “That was almost as good as the time he ripped that guy’s arm off and beat him to death with it!”

Rumble smiled at Frenzy. “The best part is I got it all recorded. I’m betting old Soundwave can put that footage to good use.”

“Hahahaha! Awesome!”

As Megatron began making his way back towards the command center the two cassetticons followed after him. With any luck some other hapless Decepticon would tick him off and they would get another show.

All in all, putting the dent in the door was much easier and less painful than banging it out again. Ramjet lay in a puddle of his own hydraulic fluid, throwing sparks as Megatron finished his chastisement and stalked away.

The battered seeker attempted to rise, but collapsed back to the ground. "You're going to have to help me up Blitzwing," he groaned, "my gyros are busted, and I'll never make it to a CR chamber on my own."

Only his fear of Megatron kept Blitzwing from bursting into laugher as the supreme leader of the Decepticons administered his punishment on Ramjet. The sight of Ramjet being used as a hammer was quite absurd indeed.

"Yes sir! Thank you sir!" Blitzwing replied to Megatron's orders while saluting the Decepticon leader. Following his show of obedience, the triplechanger moved over to banged up form of Ramjet and kneeled down, snickering "Pretty as a picture, eh?"

Roughly hoisting the fallen conehead over to his shoulder, Blitzwing headed off towards the medbay. "Hammerjet."

"Hammerjet huh," Ramjet grumbled. "Oh you're a funny guy Blitzwing... funny like a crutch."

The seeker's diagnostic systems were virtually screaming at him, his pain receptors were on overload, and to add insult to injury, he had to listen to Blitzwing's version of humor. Yeah, he'd had better days, but then again, he'd had worse. He was still functional, and his stay in the CR wouldn't be too long. Considering his transgressions, Megatron had let him off light.

As he trounced painfully on Blitzwing's shoulder on the way to the med-bay, Ramjet began to ponder. Maybe his excuse and attempt to deflect Megatron's wrath had worked a bit. Maybe if he played his cards right he could supplant Starscream as the seeker commander. It was something to think about...

"I try." Blitzwing chuckled at Ramjet's comment. At least the group of seekers in front of the medbay entrance was gone. Giving Blitzwing a good chance of adding an accidental tight turn just as he turned to enter to the med bay - resulting in Ramjet's head hitting the door frame. From Blitzwing's point of view it was just a friendly reminder for Ramjet to remember who he was dealing with.

Being more careful than he had been with Darkride, Blitzwing lifted Ramjet into one of the empty CR chambers and activated it. "Try not to stay there for too long. I have this feeling we will be getting some action soon enough. I doubt Megatron would have released me from that guard duty otherwise."

Megatron returned to the command center, Rumble and Frenzy heading over to Soundwave to share their recording with him. As the Decepticon leader retook the command chair Soundwave turned to face him. “Decepticon Slipstream signals arrival at Earth, reports highly important information to provide upon arrival at base.”

A frowned formed on Megatron’s face as he took in this information. Slipstream was a bit of an independent operator, but her last report has not put her near this particular sector. He would be interested to hear what exactly she had to report and what was so important that she had to do it in person. “Have her report to the command center upon her arrival.”

The Decepticon sat back in his chair. He was surprised that Scrapper had not yet arrived to give his own report. He had considerable patience for the Constructicon commander however. He was not another simple thug that had to be kept in line by threats and acts of intimidation or physical violence. If he was delayed it was likely by something of some importance. Still, he eagerly awaited hearing the results of his initial tests on the ore they had found on this world and its potential uses.

Command Center

Hearing the large footfalls of Megatron re-entering the Command Center, Scrapper came around the corner to present himself to his leader. "My Lord Megatron, I bring news of great interest." He strode up to the Decepticon leader, and held out a micro-energon cube for Megatron to take, the pseudoliquid inside glowing unnaturally. "We have managed to retrieve enough Ore-13 to confirm its usefulness. It can be used to create energon, but not with ideal purity, and the filters will wear out quickly. However, it is possible to synthesise Ultra-Energon from it. A substance, as you know, that we haven't seen since Cybertron was lost, and even then it was rare."

Handing the cube to his leader, Scrapper pulled out a datapad and pointed to some graphs he had prepared. "Based on the results of Shockwave and Starscreams analyses of the planet, there is potentially enough Ultra Energon to be mined from this planet to fuel an entire army. It is, of course, a great risk, both to obtain and to use, but I leave such judgement to you, sire. If we begin immediately, and dislodge those Autobots, we could have full-scale production underway within the meta-cycle. Or...We can simply use it to produce standard Energon for our fuel-hungry troops elsewhere in the galaxy. Either way, my Lord, I fear that this planet is going to be very critical in the next few vorns of the war."

Command Center

Even though Starscream had not had much to do since he returned from the failed sortie to halt the Autobot rescue team, he had been keeping himself busy at a computer station, mostly catching up on a back log of filed reports. These were just the usual things that a base commander had to keep tabs on, such as fuel and ammunition stock, medical reports, ect., though he did note that Baneblade had arrived. He was curious as to who had summoned him here. The large mech was a brilliant analyst an adviser, but he was normally stationed on worlds on a higher level of the infiltration list then this. Usually if the local infiltration team were having problems figuring out how to deal with the local population. Regardless of why he was hear Starscream was weary, the mech was large and physically imposing, strong enough to rip another Cybertronian in half with his bare hands, if he could catch them. Baneblade was a fuel hog, which forced him to move at a much slower pace then a mech of his size normally could. Still, his size and strength were a carefully constructed distraction, his true danger was his mind, a highly intelligent mech he never forgot a thing and was unconcerned with loyalty. He was odd in that he was totally dedicated to the Decepticon cause, but if he felt that the cause demanded the sacrifice of its leader, or anyone, he would do his best to see that come to pass.

However, it wasn't Baneblade that was the focus of Starscream's attention at the moment. Oh he had been keeping an audio receptor on line to what Megatron was doing, most discipline with some of the more unruly members of the team here. Though it was the arrival of Scrapper and his report on the mysterious Ore 13 that had been discovered on this world that drew the Seeker Commanders attention. His initial analysis of the ore had revealed the potential for it to act as an alternate fuel source to energon, providing for the lack of the real stuff. He had never thought that the ore could be used to refine regular, or even ultra energon. The significance of this world had just risen drastically, perhaps even becoming the most important front of the war, perhaps even equal to Cybertron.

Starscream immediately turned around to face the direction of Megatron and Scrapper and approached. Starscream was certain though that the Decepticon leader was to berate him, as he always did, regardless though this was far to important for him to ignore due to Megatron's irritating need to assert his dominance over all who wore the Decepticon seal.

"A very astute analysis Scrapper." Starscream mused as he drew near. "I had already concluded the ores value as an alternate fuel source in my preliminary study of its properties, though I did not have the time to devote as much study towards determining the full extent of its use. Of course, that is why we have such skilled intellectuals as you and your team, to find what the rest of us over look and likely not even see."

It was probably an obvious ploy to stoke the Constructicon leaders ego, but to Starscream it never hurt to apply flattery where possible. If he was ever going to make a move towards launching a coup he would need to win over such prominent Decepticons such as Scrapper and the others under his command. Though the Constructicons were usually smart enough to see what he was doing.

"Perhaps I can make a suggestion Lord Megatron." The Seeker Commander said turning to look at the seated leader of the Decepticons. "Given this significant discovery perhaps we should locate a substantial deposit of the ore in an isolated location, perhaps on one of the less developed continents of this world, and begin a mining operation. If we are careful we should be able to establishing a mining site that we can keep hidden from human eyes, and more importantly Autobot optics. We could perhaps even use facsimiles to establish a dummy mining company we can use as a front for our operation, our own warriors and personnel using their alternate forms to masquerade as vehicles and equipment for the operation, so we can exploit the ore as well as maintain security over it without having to risk revealing ourselves."

Starscream was sure Megatron was going to berate him with the flaws of his suggestion, both obvious and not, quote how difficult it would be, the resource cost, and the likely formulate his own plan using Starscream's suggestions as the basis. That is usually how it went.

"Although such an operation is complex, and likely costly in resources, having a viable resource we can use to produce energon, proper energon, is worth the risk and cost involved?"

Megatron listened quietly as Scrapper presented his findings. They were more than he had expected. He held up the small sample of ultra energon, examining it with his own personal scanners, confirming everything the Constructicon had said. It seemed that it was indeed fortuitous that he had come to this backwater when he did. Who would have thought that such an important discovery would come on this world? The Decepticon leader turned the small cube in his hand. The balance of power in this entire sector, if not the entire war, had shifted to an axis that rested on this small world. He considered the possibilities that this presented the Decepticons as Scrapper finished his report and Starscream added his own analysis.

“Very good work Scrapper. You and your team are to be commended. Have a sample of the ore and a report on your findings for transfer to Cybertron. Your findings combined with Shockwave’s analysis should find a perfect use for this new fuel. Until then we will search for a larger deposit to begin more full scale operations. When a suitable deposit is located you will be informed and your team deployed. Until that time you may return to your own experiments and research.”

Megatron turned his gaze over to Starscream. He had been a bit surprised at the seeker’s silence lately. Of course most of what had gone on was punishment to troops formerly under his command. Silence was likely the best way to disassociate himself from their mistakes. Now that another Decepticon had come in with a success he was quick to speak up. He really shouldn’t have been surprised, but more disappointed. Still, it did not mean he would dismiss his suggestions out of hand.

“The possibility of a mining operation will be fully investigated. Ideally it could be conducted in an isolated area with the use of our facsimiles. Unfortunately, the location of the ore is out of our control and the humans’ technology is primitive. A mining facility disguised as one of their own will only be so efficient. Our more direct involvement may be required. Once we find a substantial deposit that we can obtain it may come time to reevaluate the infiltration phase on this world. Until that time we will continue as we have to destabilize this planet from within.”

Slipstream transformed and landed unsteadily. She was rapidly approaching stasis lock if she didn’t get a recharge soon. The doors slid open as she gave the access code and she staggered inside. She didn’t want to go before Megatron in this state, but she also knew better than to keep him waiting. The seeker looked around and located an emergency energy port by the door. She plugged her finger into it and allowed the energy to flow into her circuits. It was just a small amount, but it was enough to keep her walking upright and her optics active. The femme strolled confidently down the corridors toward the command center.

Command Center

The doors to the room slid open and Slipstream stepped inside. The Decepticon quickly took in her surroundings, noticing Megatron sitting in his command chair, Starscream standing nearby and, to her annoyance, Soundwave seated at a console Well, she knew the best way to deal with the walking monotone computer was to simply ignore him, and that is what she would do.

The seeker sharply saluted both Megatron and Starscream. “Lord Megatron, Air Commander Starscream, it is an honor to report to both of you in person. I apologize for my unexpected arrival on this world, but I assure you that it was of the utmost importance.”

Megatron was familiar with this particular Decepticon, if even in passing and from reading her file. He remembered her manipulative ways and how she treated other Decepticons. He did not have any particular interest in playing games with her though. “Your report Slipstream.”

The Decepticon nodded in reply. “Of course my liege. Through my various contacts I had located an abandoned shuttle filled with authentic energon. I believe it to have been a derelict from pre-war Cybertron. Upon obtaining its exact coordinates I quickly moved to secure it for the use of the Empire.”

“Unfortunately the Autobot Blaster and his minions had somehow obtained the coordinates as well and arrived before I did. I launched a pursuit and intercept mission against them. The fled into transwarp and I followed them to this world. Upon our arrival I was able to successfully score several hits on the vessel, forcing it to crash in ones of this world’s oceans.” She moved to the main console and punched in a few commands, bringing up a map of Earth and highlighting a spot in the Gulf of Mexico. “These are the approximate coordinates. Unfortunately after the transwarp journey I was critically low on fuel. I could not attempt a salvage mission on my own and was forced to withdraw to this base.”

She paused for a moment, considering her next words. She had failed to obtain the energon but had so far prevented it from falling into Autobot hands. It wasn’t exactly a victory or a defeat. Still, the Decepticon knew that even the tinge of defeat could be used against her. Perhaps it would be best to get it out of the way now. She went down on one knee. “My lord, I humbly apologize for my failure to obtain the energon for your cause. Had I been able to acquire the coordinates sooner then perhaps this situation could have been avoided entirely.” She looked down at the floor and awaited whatever came next.

Megatron stared down at the seeker. She was indeed a very smooth talking and manipulator. With her words she was attempting to cover up any possibility that her mission was seen as a failure by taking full responsibility. It was a refreshing change from the excuses he so often got from other Decepticons, even if it was just a ploy on her part. “The coordinates of the crashed vessel will suffice for now Slipstream. There is still a chance to salvage this mission. Recharge your systems and be ready for deployment should you be needed on the salvage mission.”

Slipstream looked up at Megatron and slowly rose. She offered him another sharp salute. “As you command my lord.” She then left the room, hiding a smug smile on her face as she did so.

Megatron turned to Starscream as she left. “Starscream, take Ramjet, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Hellion, Nightraven and Blitzwing to those coordinates. Secure the vessel and its cargo. Do not allow it to fall into Autobot hands.”

The Decepticon commander then turned to Soundwave. “Soundwave, accompany them to the crash site. I want you to recover whatever energon and computer records you can from the vessel. We may be able to recover valuable intel along with energon on this mission. The mission is to be launched immediately. Fly there on your own power so as to avoid Autobot detection as best as possible.”

Soundwave stood up from his console. "As you command, Megatron." He then left to the command center, bound for the hangar bay. He did not relish the idea of being carried by one of the seekers, but flying in his robot mode would likely attract undue attention. He would do what he must.

Command Center

"Of course Megatron."

Starscream replied quickly as he began to make his way towards the door of the command center and head for the hanger bay. Needless to say he was looking forward to not only the opportunity to get out of the base, and away from Megatron, but was looking forward to the potential combat ahead. Though he was not thrilled by the idea of Soudnwave tagging along, even if his specific set of skills were required for this mission.

>>Skywarp, Thundercracker, Ramjet, Blitzwing, Nightraven, and Hellion. We have an important mission to carry out. Meet me in the hangar bay immediately.<<

Starscream didn't explain why he was summoning them as he arrived in the hangar bay and waited for his team to arrive.

"Again? Well aren't we popular." Thundercracker said and flashed a grin to Skywarp, placing his energon cylinder on the table in front of him. "Dirge, Thrust and all those others get to sit through this one too. Then again, considering our past failures, this does not bode well for us."

"Teleport us in 'warp? No sense keeping Screamer waiting longer than necessary. Otherwise there will be no end to his whining."

Hangar

Blitzwing had returned into the hangar after taking Ramjet to med bay. He had felt like needing to release some of the pent up frustration. And the rather large and mostly empty hangar had enough room to perform some exercise with sword. He had barely began when Starscream shrieked his orders over the comm-link. As always, real action was welcome change of pace to the triplechanger. Perhaps he would even get a chance to have his revenge on Smokescreen.

Medbay

Hellion’s optics lit up as she received the message from Starscream. The CR chamber had nearly finished its cycle anyway. She was fully combat functional at least, the chamber just working on a few scratches on her outer surface. She aborted the sequence and pushed the chamber open. The seeker stepped out of the chamber and stretched her arms over her head, loosening up her servos and joints. “Ahhh, nothing like coming out of the CR chamber with another mission waiting for ya.” She glanced around and frowned when she saw no one else in the room. Nightraven was usually waiting for her when she got out. She shrugged her shoulders, assuming she was already on her way to the hangar.

The femme did see another CR chamber active. She peered inside and spotted Ramjet. She proceeded to knock on the door. “Wake up slaghead, we got a mission to do.”

*

Slipstream could feel her energy levels dropping once again as she made her way to the medbay. Still, she had enough left to walk into the room with her usual confident demeanor. She noticed another female seekers tapping on a CR chamber, trying to rouse someone out of stasis. The femme didn’t particularly have the time or desire to chat up one of her ‘sisters.’ She gave Hellion a curt nod before hopping into one of the CR chambers herself. It would be the most efficient way to get re-energized and it would repair some of the minor damage that she had accumulated on her travels. With a hiss the chamber sealed shut and the process began.

Hangar

Soundwave silently walked into the room, sparing only a quick glance at Blitzwing. The commando would not have anything useful to say and he had nothing of interest to say back to him. For now he preferred silence to any attempt at inane conversation.

This was not to say Soundwave was standing around doing nothing. With Rumble and Frenzy back inside of his chest cavity he was able to watch their recording of Ramjet’s punishment at the hands of Megatron. While he did find the video amusing, although not to the extent that his cassetticons did, he saw greater potential behind it. It could be used to humiliate or chastise the other Decepticon. Blackmail was always an option as well, but it was possible that such a concept would be too difficult for the simple warrior to grasp. For now he would simply store the recording away for possible future use.

Skywarp sat back in his seat, gulping down a can of synthetic energon with his buddy, Thundercracker, relaxing next to him. The teleporter couldn't help but wonder how much Darkride liked his new neon paint job. Surely the trap had been sprung by now. 'Warp was a little surprised that the interrogator hadn't come looking for him yet with an angry scowl across his ugly face plate. 'Warp was half tempted to go down to the torture chamber just to make sure everything had gone off according to plan. Instead, the black and purple seeker decided to just rest and hang out with 'Cracker for a while, not wanting to expend any more unnecessary energy. He would simply sit back and patiently wait to see the results of his prank.

Unfortunately, that wait would be a bit longer than originally thought as Starscream's message came in over their comm lines. Skywarp placed his empty can down and nodded to Thundercracker. "Yeah, I guess we are popular. Well, at least we didn't have to waste more time in the training room. There's only so many times I can shoot at a drone before I feel like I'm going to shut down."

At the suggestion of teleporting over to the hangar bay, 'Warp stood from his seat and placed a hand on the blue seeker's shoulder. "Ready?" With a bright flash the two friends were gone.

Hangar Bay

Skywarp reappeared in the hangar bay with Thundercracker by his side. Not far away from where they stood, Blitzwing was practicing with his sword. 'Warp just shook his head at the sight of the blade wielding triplechanger. A sword's no match for a good old fashion laser gun or missile, the teleporter thought before he then noticed Soundwave entering the room.

Skywarp leaned over and whispered to Thundercracker. "What's ol' monotone doing here? I didn't know he was coming along. I hope he doesn't think he's going to ride inside my cockpit. I'm not a fraggin' taxi service."

Hangar Bay

"You will carry Soundwave if I so desire it Skywarp." Starscream said as he strode across the floor of the hangar bay, arms behind his back. Clearly the others had not noticed where he was standing when they entered. "Soundwave is here on the direct orders of Megatron, and he is to fulfill a vital role in our current mission."

Starscream looked around the hangar, and noted that only half of his team had arrived. He was disappointed to see that as he expected promptness from Decepticon warriors. He made a mental note to tighten up discipline when he arrived, the soldiers here were getting far to slack and this could not be allowed to continue.

He stood in front of the those that had assembled and gave them a stern gaze as he looked them up and down, seemingly inspecting them, evaluating them for the coming operation.

"The others have not arrived yet, this is unacceptable." He said, as if to no one. "Regardless we do not have time to wait for them, I will give you the mission details and you can fill the rest in once they arrive and we depart. Several breems ago Slipstream arrived on planet with vital intelligence for our operation. Through her own... initiative, she was able to secure the location of a pre-war Autobot ship that contained a cargo of pure energon." He paused for a few moments to let that sink in. "Unfortunately the Autobot known as Blaster had already discovered the ships location and had already commandeered it. Slipstream pursued Blaster to this system and after a brief, but intense engagement she managed to disable the ship and bringing it down in the water body known as the Gulf of Mexico. Megatron has ordered this mission put together with the objective of securing the crashed ship and its cargo, this is Soundwave's primary role on the mission. The rest of us are to secure a perimeter around the ship and secure it before the Autobots can. If possible we are to hold until Soundwave is able to complete his mission of computer record extraction and securing the cargo. If we fail in preventing the Autobots from securing the ship for themselves we are to ensure that they do not reap the rewards of doing so."

He stood back and looked at the faces of those before him.

"Once the others arrive we will depart immediately and they can be brought up to date en route."

Command Center

Scrapper saluted. "Your will be done, Mighty Megatron." The Constructicon leader listened as Starscream pushed for the mining operation to begin as soon as possible. He kept silent, even though he felt that such an operation would be difficult on a planet with active Autobot protection. Thankfully, Megatron quieted the Seeker leader, and send him on a retrieval mission of some sort. Having gotten his own orders, Scrapper dismissed himself from the Command Center, and began heading back to the rest of the team, typing on a datapad the start of the report to go to Shockwave in Cybertron, and plans for the next stage of the research into the Ore that could potentially change the outlook of the whole war.

OOC:If anyone wants to bump into Scrapper, now's the time.

The incoming mission worried Thundercracker, he was not keen on underwater operations. Skywarp's moans about carrying Soundwave didn't even really register in his mind. For even if one forgot about the effects of salt water on their bodies, water itself reduced the effectiveness of their alternative forms and even more so, their weapons. Not wanting to openly question anything Starscream had said or give an impression he was jumping on the air commander's feet, Thundercracker walked over to the seeker leader.

"Shouldn't we prepare for underwater combat before we go? Catch some torpedoes at least? Or mines? Railguns?" He whispered to Starscream, hoping that the seeker leader would decide against just throwing themselves into the combat zone unprepared. They had known for a long time and occasionally Starscream even listened the input from him and Skywarp, although not so much in public.

Blitzwing had placed his sword away as Starscream had began to explain the mission details. He didn't particularly care where a fight would take place as long as he got to fight. One question he had for the mission commander though. "Yo, Screamer! Are we bouncing or flying?!"
