The colors look identical to me, the only difference I can see between the two is the new head deco that I can't figure out the reference to. It's definitely not cartoon accurate (otherwise they'd have swapped the names).

In terms of engineering, yes. I've heard that some of the detail on them is more akin to the KO sets than the originals. I'm not saying that's true, but if it is I find it hilarious that even Hasbro themselves couldn't get an original set of dinocassettes.
