Well, I can put this on my radar. Even though I replaced it with Uranos, I do still have a fondness for FP's upgraded Superion.

My best guess is that it's because the only third party Superion at the moment is TFC's which is a much larger scale than what many refer to as the 'FP/Maketoys' scale, meaning this outdated FP add-on is the only version even close to being in scale with their combiners so making add-ons for it provides an option to improve upon the only version of Superion which fits in scale (or at least comes close to it, though it's actually smaller, even than FP's own Bruticus add-on kit) with those aforementioned third party Superions.
edit: By the way, BBTS also has it up for preorder.

How exactly is this outdated?
Sure the Energon Superion came out in 2004. The 2nd release is only Four years old as newer buyers bought it in 2009 as a ROTF Target store exclusive.
It doesn't matter if 3rd party companies create add-ons & figures for HasTak figures that are Five to Ten years old. Because Fans don't throw TF toys out. Fans hold on to TF toys much longer than kids do.
Outdated as far as 2013-2014 TF combiners scale is concerned? HasTak did up the combiners scale to Five deluxes for FOC Bruticus in 20012. Then in 2013-1014 Hastak lowered the TF combiners scale back down to a much smaller scale. BH Abonimus & those Quadro Kreon Combiners are proof of this.
There is no set TF combiners scale for 3rd parties. So to say the ROTF Superion & ROTF Bruticus are using outdated smaller scale is a unreasearched statement. As most know FP likes to create smaller scale TF combiners like the Glacialbots,FP Menasor & the Crossfire & snow man add-on kits.
Outdated as far as plastic used, designs, sculpt, egineering? The older TF toys made before the economy went sour are the much superior toys. Due to Hastak doing less cutbacks, less short cuts, stronger plastic, bigger scale, stronger joints & the list goes on.

On to this set, I will definitely look out for this as soon as it is stocked by a HK retailer, as the esteemed Robotmel has said. I think it makes this look a whole lot better. Ideally someone would find a way to split the Silverbolt torso section, as this combiner mainly suffers from being short on the body. I would love to see this as tall as Colossus. Still, this is a massive step in the right direction.

After seeing the added height, I might reconsider buying this set. I dont know how good the red waist piece would look with the energon version colors though. It might stand out too much. I didnt notice the new head before. That looks good even if the antenna are a little to thick. It looks way better than that stupid hasbro head with the wings. Does anyone else feel the crotch/waist piece is a little bit large ? I keep getting this vision of red granny panties and I cant unsee it...cherntodd wrote:xyl360 wrote:Rated X wrote:Im not sure why all of a sudden companies want to make stuff for this outdated set.

Yes, it does make Superion with FP add-on kit to fit the FP/MT scale.
Here is a picture:
I've been following this for almost 2 months since I saw it on a Chinese forum. And I bought my Superion+FP's addon afterwards. Now finally we could have an autobot's combiner that has the right scale!

Well, I would guess that Fansproject didn't think they were as necessary with the Aerialbots, what with them all being airplanes. It wasn't like with the Combaticons, where Swindle was otherwise stuck being a helicopter, and Blastoff a tank.
That isn't to say that in an ideal world, it wouldn't have been nice to have the Aerialbots all have molds unique from one another... but it definitely wasn't as necessary as it was with Bruticus, and it made for a more affordable upgrade.
As to the subject of this upgrade for the upgrade... I'd like to see pictures of how it compares to it's uni-upgraded equivalent, and/or some of the other Fansproject or Maketoys combiners. Just to get a clear idea how much extra height it adds.
Edit: Funny, I could swear that picture of him and Bruticus a few posts above mine wasn't there when I made my post... Maybe I'm just going crazy. Or the person who posted it is a time traveler who is messing with me.
In any case... Nice! I don't have Superion, or his Fansproject upgrade, but if I did, I'd have to get this. (Maybe someday, when I have more money, I can try and hunt them all down... If not, ah well...)
