I didn't finish college(twice), but I have a pretty good career, go on nice vactions, live in places that are constantly improving and so on...[/quote]

Totally. It's not at all about how you get into your career, it's about actually getting to a career.

The people I know with large collections have done so over years. It's not about what they spend on the toys, it's about the investment of time, love, and sometimes cash.

Believe me I'm with ya, hard work determination, and time will get you what you want. My collection didn't happen over night. It is a mix of spontinaity and planing though :-?

As for those of you out there that can both go to and stay in college(I had very good reasons for leaving both times) take it seriously, cause I got my career the hard way, and thats no joke!

I only regret that my entire G1 collection from my childhood is sitting in a box at my parents house. Oh G1 Prime....how I miss thee.

Seriously, if I have expendable income, I'll do what makes me happy. Having the TFs that I want makes me happy.

I have always loved Transformers (I'm 29) but had pitiful few as a child. Then Beast Wars came out and I saw this as a good jumping on point for collecting a new series. A year later I went to my first convention. It was the Motor City Comic Con in Novi, Michigan. At the time, I was heavy into comic books as well as Beast Wars. But my interest in comics was begining to wane. I then saw the independant toy sellers and was hooked. That first time I came home with RID Fortress Maximus and G1 Ultra Magnus and Punch/Counterpunch.
The next time I went prepared with more money.
I have my own house now, and bills and groceries always come first, but I still collect. For G1 all I need is Vroom. I'm happy.

Nah. How many people get to recapture their youth everyday?
That is a special gift for Transformers fans, going strong for 20+ years and we still get to enjoy fresh content today.

I will gladly pay for that privelage, for once I agree with Liege Evilmus, you can't take the money with you. Enjoy it while you can.

You don't really think about it as you buy them, and then in a few years you look at your collection, count them out and realize, "By Primus! I've spent 1,000 bucks on Transformers!"
Do I regret it? Nope. :)

I only regret I blew my money on MP's and didn't get me a
real handgun before PM suddenly went insane and begun
planning tighter gun laws 5 days ago!

Now I have to scrape up some cash to get un-and then have it
"stolen" - before
gubment starts confiscating them from all, like they did in britain!

I'm OK with what I've spent. I'll enjoy buying them for my son when he's older more though.

Not for a second. I've bought selectively and in lots, selling off the ones I didn't need to keep in my collection. I have positively stupid amounts of fun with them, and my display decisions make it so that non-fans find it cool. Plus, most of it has appreciated in value, so if I had to sell it, I wouldn't have lost anything.

YES. Or, no, but I'm sure I will when I'm out on the streets pushing around a shopping cart full of transforming robots and other action figures in a few months. :P
