It would be nice if a third faction's symbol wasn't an Autobot/Decepticon fusion.

But of course. The next thing we'll get is a Maximal-Predacon fusion.

First I heard "Maxicons," I thought of Jon Bailey's Optimus Prime's "Maxipads!" quote.

Also Beast Wars had the Unicron Preds and the Decepticon strain of Preds.

Er, NAILs are "Non-Aligned Indigenous Life-forms" who were Cybertronians that despised the war and left Cybertron to get away from it. They are not a faction, but a large group of civilians, pacifists, deserters (from both sides), and moral objectors. The terms "Evil" and "Decepticon" cannot apply to them.LordScourge wrote:I know that we've seen it happen with some of the Transformers series but I'd like to see something done little different. For example I heard about a group of transformers called Nails I think it would be interesting to for them to appear in a series even as a opposition to the Autobots and Deceptions. Heck in a series Nails could be made into rogue transformers.
The reason I'd like for them to appear is because really the classic Bot vs Con angle is a little stale. Besides it would be interesting if Optimus displayed a level of resentment going as far as to say "Nails are nothing but deserters and are worse Decepticons. Leave them to die they are nothing to us." and Megatron displayed this sort of attitude "I have no problem with Nails so long as they stay out of my way."
Also I'd really like to see a Transformer that bad mouths both the leader ship of Megatron and Optimus and both the Bots and Cons. Saying things like.
A Nail when asked who he answers to Optimus or Megatron could say "I don't answer to either of those two pieces of scrap."
A Nail confronting Optimus could even argue that both he Megatron are unfit to lead their race like so. "Megatron wasn't the only one that led an army Optimus you did to and because you could never put aside your differences we lost our planet and now our race might face extinction so for give me oh great Prime if I have interest in taking a side."
Even an evil Nail trying to take out all the big fish would make a compelling villain with the line "Don't you idiots get it I just want this war to be over and that's why Megatron and Optimus have to die. Those two stopped being leaders to us if they ever were the moment we lost Cybertron."
But if they were to appear as a group I'd love for the leader to be a former student of Optimus that follows his ideals and genuienly wants to rebuild their planet but twists and warps Optimus's ideals.
Turns out that ain't Thundertron, but it is a Star Seeker.PrymeStriker wrote:Thundertron. Star Seekers.

That's exactly what the Star Seekers are. Non-Cybertronian Transformers who hate Cybertronians.budmaloney wrote:I think a third faction would make things more interesting, but not for selling the toys. It would become too confusing for kids. But I think the ideal third faction would not be a cybertronian race, rather, some alien robotic race.

Or how about RiD having Autobots vs. both Predacons and Decepticons?YRQRM0 wrote:Does Unicron/Mini-cons/Sideways not count as a third faction? Everyone always forgets Armada. They had a whole different cast too (mostly).

Or Beast Wars Neo having Cybertrons/Maximals vs. Destrons/Predacons vs. Blentrons/Blendtrons?
And, for a while, Energon had Autobots and Decepticons vs. Terrorcons (until the Cons joined the Terrorcons the latter became a subgroup of the former).

Well, yes, both did answer to Megatron/Galvatron, both the two groups were still at odds with each other, both trying to gain Megatron's favor over the other, up until the end of the series.Archanubis wrote:As I recall, the Predacons and Decepticons were part of the same team. Sure, Scourge plotted to overthrow Megatron/Galavatron, but they ALL answered to Megatron. You could even argue the Decepticons were a sub-faction of the Predacons in RiD, and Scourge took the role traditionally held by Starscream.
Well, that's what the Star Seekers, who all turn into beasts, would be for.Archanubis wrote:Besides which, unless the upcoming "Beast Hunters" season is about this, I think the idea of a third faction in Prime has started to fade. With Airachnid locked away, the Insecticons have been absorbed into the Decepticons, and unless remnants start popping up, I think MECH's pretty much done. As for Starscream... well, one rogue does not a faction make.
