does anyone recognise this toy? and possibly know how to find one?

Posted by lullabyjunkie Wed May 26, 2010 8:27 am

i was an 8o's kid, and i had a transformer that i took everywhere. i remember it was about 10 cm long, and looked like a rocket. we had a house fire, and my transformer was gone :(

im 24 now, and ive searched for many years to replace it, just for the memories. :BANG_HEAD: its really hard to explain what it is, but ive tried to draw it (really poorly) to see if any of you guys can rise to the challenge and tell me what it is, or where i can find it. but even knowing the name of it would be amazing.

surely someone must know?

You came to the right place. I'm sorry to hear that your Transformer didn't survive the fire, but with the drawing you made I may be able to figure out who it is.

I'll keep on looking for more matches. Maybe you can give us more clues based on those two?

Did it have a pull-back motor? I think I know what you mean but they aren't TFs, just simple transforming robots. I don't know what they were called or where to find pics. Sorry I can't be of more help.

This might help:

Assuming it's mostly white, it could be one of these:

These were made by Tomy before Tomy and Takara merged way back in 85, they were call Commandrons and were a happy meal pack in at mcdonalds.

Velociter space shuttle
Motron sports car
Commander Magna jet fighter
Solardyne interstellar space ship

I recognized your drawing immediately as I also carried these guys around everywhere when I was a little kid.

You might be able to get them off ebay now that you know what they are called.

Thanks for the nostalgia, havent thought about these in a long time, I should check my dad's basement next time I am there, I probably still have them all.

in retrospect they are very basic, but as a kid I thought they were awesome
I like how the jet has no face, just the cockpit angled forward

Ahh Commandrons. I remember having these as a kid. At least the Car and the Space Ship.

Man those where nifty little things. Happy Meal toys sure have gone down hill since then.

Isnt that the truth? the commandrons were about the equivalent of a throttlebot or battle charger in terms of quality. Could you imagine if fast food chains today released modern day scout quality toys? I would buy them.

Yeah, I also liked the little transforming Cheangeable Burgers, and fries and cups: the Changeables I had quite a few of those. Thew Robot modes weren't all that great, but man where they fun to carry around.

But today's Happy meal toys, look like they came out of a knockoff store in Chinatown.
