the cost of a stat upgrade is based on two things; the number of stats currently upgrades and the number of upgrades in a particular stat
if carry on upgrading a stat but it doesn't overtake or eqaul another stat no changes to the cost of other stats will occur
it's only when you change the order or of stats that a change in the costs of the other stats will occur
taking nanten's example;
he has (in order of most invested)
5 speed
3 strength
2 courage/firepower
0 INT/SKL/END/RANK
now if he invests in speed to six no change will occur as speed as it stays the most invested
however if he invested in onepoint in INT he would shift END, RNK, & SKL from being joint 4th most invested in to joint 5th, and thus increase their cost

Are you out there on the front lines or at home keeping score?"

Of course we all know that was just Alpha Strike trying to cover his own arse.
