My condolences on your sad news. I have lost family members to cancer before and it is a sad and terribly lonely time if you allow it to be. I presume your dad hasn't passed yet, so keep yourself busy and be strong for him; try to keep his spirits up because he'll need all the help and support he can get, especially from you as a daughter.
If and when he passes you should surround yourself with family and friends who will support you. I know it's easy for me to say but you should try to focus on happier times, you say that you are closer to him than anybody else; then you should celebrate the life he had because that is what he will want you to do.
Millions of people across the world have gone and are going through what you are right now. You aren't alone.
It's safe to assume that I'm just taking the piss.
