What freedom of speech? you are on the internet and on a public website that is owned by someone which has set rules posted for everyone to read.

Think of it like this, you are in your favorite store which you can walk into any time you want (kind of like here) and got loud, the managers (moderators, site admin) asked you to keep it down.. You get mad and raise a ruckus and eventually get thrown out..
Get the point.
There is no infraction of freedom of speech there because being loud is a disruption of others. There is no infraction of freedom of speech here because the rules are clearly posted not to bait, flame or troll.
Got it?
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Here are the facts. Bay didn't take out Arcee, the script writers did. The script would probably have been mostly finished before Bay signed on (He stated that the scene with the Autobots outside Sam's house helped convince him to sign on as director)

There was never any mention of the fact that a motorbike could not "logically" transform. This argument doesn't make any sense to me. How could an F-22 raptor transform, but not a motorcycle? Does anyone obviously think the general public will think "Boy, I believe that jet transforms logically, but a motorbike? Bah! No way!". Transformers are an advanced alien species, I think a transforming motorbike is completely within the realm of reality.

Besides, most of the transformations in movie #1 are illogical and flawed to begin with. ILM artists have said themselves that they had to "cheat" and stretch pieces to make the robots look bigger... oh, and where are the seats and steering wheels in bot mode? 'nuff said.

darkqueen01 wrote: (Basically, Arcee would have been tiny). It's also the same argument that Bay gave about why he changed the type of rig that Optimus looks like in the movie. Taking a look at a motorcycle and then trying to imagine it turning into a robot (how many of us do this, I wonder?) I had a hard time imagining motorcycle could be a HUGE robot. There just isn't enough metal hardware to justify such a transformation, at least from what I can see.

Arcee wouldn't be huge. She was never meant to be. Hasbro said at Botcon that her height would have been 9 feet. That's still pretty tall. And why dismiss a character based solely on size? That's pretty mean... small or not, there's no reason she can't kick ass. Think of her like a fast, stealthy ninja-like character. She would add alot of variety to the Autobot cast... but then again, knowing this fandom sometimes, I've never seen people who were so against variety in a franchise (Transformers, no less)

Given the scale of the movie characters and the movie toys, a nine foot tall Arcee would equate to being a scout class figure. So put Energon Arcee next to the '08 Movie Bumblebee, the scale is about right, and she doesn't look too short at all. They could even do a completely new scout mold for her if she makes it into the sequel, and expand the movie line to include smaller vehicles like bikes, jetskis and ATVs.

darkqueen01 wrote:Though if they did go through the trouble of doing a CGI Arcee then maybe they did a transformation and it's stored on some computer somewhere and we won't get to see it. *tear*

It wasn't a CGI model, just a concept sketch/painting. We don't know if a CGI model had ever been built, though the USA Today stated that digital pre-vis had already started on bot designs cut from movie #1.

But I'm no expert on pre-vis, so someone might have to help me there...

If you look at the toy, it is, like you said, more of a fuchsia / purple - which, if you consult your Man's Colourwheel, is just girly enough to be feminine, but far enough from pink to be considered cool.

When it comes down to it, I don't really care. If Acree makes it into the sequals, cool.

Having said that, I'd rather see other bots like Prowl or the Twins.

This is an image I seem to post alot, but since the conversation seems to have shifted towards the size of a motorbike TF, I though I'd post it again. See isn't as small as everyone thinks she is (confirmed by Hasbro to be 9 feet), her size is her advantage, not her disadvantage.

I would assume a fandom comprised mostly of men would understand that size doesn't matter.

Hey everyone. I just want to say a big thank you for defending my ability to talk on this board though I am well aware that most of you probably made an audible sigh when you saw me make a post on this thread and may not agree with what I am saying. It's appreciated.

I was gonna respond to Ratman_TF (I even started writing a response) *the board shudders*, but since the convo topic has moved on, I shall go with the flow.....

I agree with the point that Skowl brought up about a transforming motorcycle at 80 MPH. How fun would that be to see something like that on the big screen? Like the Optimus/Bonecrusher transformation on the freeway only on a different scale. I have no problems with the hologram aspects since I myself have no real idea as to how they work. Still, I think there are some problems with the transformation into a motorcycle.

I read somewhere that, among some of the reasons Bay took out Arcee, is because the transformation from motorcycle to robot form would not logically work out. (Basically, Arcee would have been tiny). If you look at the toy, she's more of a fushia / metallic purple. She only looks pink under certain light conditions.

Sort of like how Ratchet sometimes looks yellow, sometimes orange and sometimes green, depending on the lighting.

Thank you Neko, I wish I could say this was the first time someone compared me to a 9th grade girl... *sigh*

But there is a fundamental difference between pink and fuschia. Fushia is one of the three primary colours (contrary to popular belief, it's not red). And, despite it's silly name, fuschia is a much more manly colour than pink (though in antiquity and the middle ages, pink was seen as the more masculine colour since it was the shade of faded out blood, and blue was for girls...)

I wish there was a fat G1 Autobot from the series so that the real argument wouldn't be about what shade of pink Arcee should be if she is in the movie but rather what pattern Fat Bot's hawaiian shirt should be.

Actually, I believe that you have it backwards.

From what I've heard, the reason pink and blue are affiliated with the genders that they are today, is be cause a long time ago baby boys, because they were the heirs to their families, were dressed in blue because it was believed to be the most powerful color to ward of demons and spirits.
Pink had the same effect, but wasn't as powerful.

But I'm just spewing out what I've heard.

a quick search...

Originally, pink was designated for boys, as it was thought to be the stronger color. In Christian tradition, red was associated as male, and its ‘little’ sibling pink was used for boys. Blue was associated the Virgin Mary and therefore considered feminine.

source

But, says Dr Koller, before 1920 pink was the colour for little boys when it was seen as a lighter version of red, the “masculine” colour of blood and fighting. After the First World War, blue became popular with boys because of military uniforms and by default, pink became the colour for girls.

source

The do make mention that long ago (1700s) the gender colour code hadn't quite existed yet, so that's probably why you're thinking of the whole blue-for-heir thing. But there was a long period when pink was considered the masculine colour.

Man, gone for a day and two more pages pop up. *Le sigh*

Gojira Prime: I appreciate and accept the apology. (And I also saw it posted on that other thread, so I did get your message.) How could I not accept an apology in the form of Calvin and Hobbes? Incidentally, I apologize to anyone who thought I was being pushy or offended by my loooooooong posts. I did not mean to be. I just really got into the discussion and wanted to thoroughly explain my reasons. Now let's put all this unpleasantness behind us and be friends!

Image

And that is the last time I ever post anything this cute on the forums again. ;;)

Back to the Topic....

Well it's nice to see skowl having fun picking apart my last post . It also gave my some things to ponder on.

Size....Doesn't....Matter! This seems to be a big core of the argument and, quite frankly, this is true. (Unless you are movie Jazz fighting movie Megatron, but that is another story.) Even at 9 ft. I am sure that Arcee, or any fembot, could do some major damage at that size. I still can't see/imagine how a crotch rocket can turn into a 9 ft. robot, even when you split the wheels in every which way) but if ILM or whoever does the effects can do a good job making it look real then I guess that is all that matters.

Hell, if I an accept Yoda and his lightsaber fight in SWII then I should be able to accept pretty much anything.

Image

As for the pink/fuschia color fiasco..... I still HATE the color pink or any other variation being put with female characters.

But, as a Transformers Fan, I would hate it even more if they did create Arcee for the movie and didn't keep some essence of her G1 colouring......

......And the fuschia color isn't all that bad either. *grumbles*

And before I forget.....

But to me, that's just the problem. Jazz's size definitely worked against him in the movie. Megs literally tore him in half! No way he could've done that to Ratchet or Ironhide--they're too big. I can't really see a 9 foot robot being terribly effective against a robot three to four times her size in open battle.

However, if she were a spy and infiltrator... that could be cool. (Just to contradict myself!) Sneak in, blow some stuff up, sneak out... that'd work. But I can't see her doing much good in a hand-to-hand battle.
