That's a matter of opinion. I've always really liked Rhinox. Did you collect the Beast Wars figures as they came out or did you buy them later down the road?

Here's a few highlights that come to mind: Optimus Primal, Tigerhawk, Transmetal Cheetor, Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia, Waspinator/Buzzsaw mold, Transmetal Terrorsaur, Optimal Optimus, Transmetal Megatron, Wolfang ... the list goes on! Some duds too (RETRAX), but hey, not every figure can be perfect.

Oh, I love some of the figures from the BW line(I happen to think Optimal Optimus is a cool figure despite being kibble ridden) but like CP mentioned, there's a lot of cheating in the toy designs, which is the most common and repeated criticism I come across of the BW figures.

From my observations, it appears that there are more "bad" toys from the line than "good" toys as far as most are concerned and that's why I suggested that there shouldn't be a concern of getting sucked into getting all the toys if one happens to like the show.

That being said, there are some BW figures on my to-get list.:D

Someone gave my wife to give to me a yellow and metallic purple Cheetor (I think) figure...I thought the fig was pretty lame even for free. HTS screwed up and accidentally sent my the universe Cheetor and refunded my money for it, but I exchanged it for a cool fig at Target.

Like the movie and Star Wars line, it was the Beast Wars aesthetic that I didn't like, initially. The heads specifically, in all cases. Most have since grown on me.

Currently watching the entire Beast Wars/Machines series and reading the IDW omnibus and loving them all. Not a fan of many BW toys but I can never put down the Hydra/Terrorsaur basic mold or Robotmasters Optimus Primal and Lio Convoy.

On topic, I alsways thought the second Darth Vader would make an interesting Straxus. There's something about the head and the red eyes, I'm not sure what.

Always thought Cybertron Starscream would meke a great G2 Jhiaxus. Especially since in an interview, Furman hinted that Jhiaxus was to have been descended from Starscream.

I didn't think we'd get new Seekers like we did with Sunstorm and Acid Storm in recent years.

Or TF's that turn into working representations of their alternate mode like the new modem Ravage/Tigatron mold or the Grimlock mouse mold.

Can't believe that Movie Meantime wasn't a working watch. They were flying around back in the 80's.

I never thought we'd see G1 Ironhide/Ratchet toys with heads but thanks to some great customs we have. Not official Hasbro but well worth a mention. Why Hasbro couldn't do the clip-on head thing is beyond me.

Never thought we'd see a Mickey Mouse TF. Anyone want to tell me why?

All the characters crying out for toys as this thread shows and they give us the mouse? Where is the logic?

I really don't see what's so big about Tigerhawk. I prefer Optimus Minor :D . I ain't kidding either.

There's also a lot of other Beast Wars figures I like too, even if some of them are cheating. Come to think of it, even though I never really thought that way at the time they were out, who would have thunk that we'd get Fuzors? Terrorgator is one of my favorite figures, and an alligator crossed with a snapping turtle just looks cool.

Mutants is another thing fans probably weren't expecting, from beast to beast. I only have Soundwave(and Beast Changer/Savage/Noble from Beast Machines), but these guys are pretty cool figures. However, they work best as one shots, and are certainly nothing to build a line around, which gladly they never did.

Fun fact: There has been an official Bus Transformer released, in Japan, in the Machine Robo line: http://counter-x.net/gobots/reviews/mr/doubledecker_bus_robo.html

Oh yeah, even though I haven't gotten him yet, I can't belive they actually made a toaster bot!

Wow, I just thought of this and it should have been so obvious.

For my top figure that I thought we'd never get is Masterpiece Optimus Prime. I haven't been collecting for long but I have had Transformers in my life in one form or another since I was a kid. I remember back in the early/mid 90s as a kid thinking "Man, why does my Optimus Prime toy not look like the Optimus Prime on the cartoon?". For years an accurate G1 OP was not an option. After G1, I remember seeing BW and then RiD as well as the Unicron Trilogy years later. Time after time, the newer OPs had more accurate toys. Finally MP OP was produced and it's simply a great example of Transformers toy engineering.

So that's my super ultimate pick. MP Starscream/Skywarp/Thundercracker and MP Megatron are up there too but for me, it was always a question of OP being made "right".

Never thought Animated Blurr was going to be released, as nothing was in the works when we first saw him in Episode 21. However, his appearance in the toyline several months later was mind blowing. I'm also surprised that Arcee, Rodimus Minor, and others are being released in Animated. Good stuff.

I love the Beast Wars line, my favorite molds being Magnaboss, Rampage and Big Convoy. Even though there are some toys from the series that are real stinkers and are on nobody's top 10 lists, what line doesn't?

Good call. TFA Blurr is such a cool figure and the design is a bit underrated, I think. Theres no wasted space in the design, the alt mode and bot mode have great likeness to the show model. The figure in bot mode is pretty darn solid when you consider the relatively slight physique. Despite the quality of the TFA figures up to that point, I didn't expect such a great result in TFA Blurr.

I was very surprised that Arcee was being made. From a fan PoV, she was a great background character in the show, had a cool design, and would be a great figure. But that's from a fan perspective, I never thought Hasbro would have considered making Arcee because it would be more of a fan figure than a more marketable figure that an every day kid would go for. "Mom, can I get this pink girl robot toy?".

Rodimus Minor and the new Animated coming out def surprised me as a lot of those characters appeared in the one episode with capturing the space bridge. How come we don't have an Elita-One Animated coming or Slipstream coming out? :-?

Oh, I guess I worded it wrong #-o .

I meant official as in official first party transforming robot toy, and not a third party or knock off.

But there haven't been too many transforming bus robots in general, so it's still sort of a fun fact I suppose, and it's one of those "Hey GoBots(or at least the parent company Ban-Dai) did this, why hasn't Transformers?

Maybe companies don't want to release a bus robot because maybe kids would think of a school bus when they saw a bus transfomrer and it would be a huge shelfwarmer?

FWIW the toaster is Da' Bomb! I came home from work this last
Wednesday and it was sitting on the middle of the dining table.
My wife had picked him up for me kind of out of the blue. I don't
know how but the toy it'self is almost awesome enough to trump how
I came by it, almost.

As of this post, we still have yet to get an official G.I. Joe Crossover figure(there is an old prototype though). But we got Snowcat, who is directly inspired by G.I. Joe, even if he is the wrong faction(the Snowcat in G.I. Joe was a Joe vehicle). So even if we never get crossover figures from Joe, we'll always have Snowcat.

And for more Energon-y goodness, I never thought we'd get a figure that resembles Godzilla. Yet Cruelock does, though it's the '98 version. Still, very cool figure, and a neat design. Now all we need them to do is retool it and upsize it into a Supreme size for the ultimate effect!

Finally, the Ninja Turtles and Transformers? Well ok, that hasn't happened yet, but if you look on the back of Energon Insecticon, you'll see a ninja turtle like face. Someone on the forum once told me the designer liked Ninja Turltes so he stuck the face on the back as sort of an homage to the franchise. All in all, somethng I never thought we'd see.

Energon gave us a lot of good stuff!

A figure I never thought we'd get, and it sounds like we *still* won't, is Animated Omega Supreme. I haven't finished season 3 yet, but it seems like based on screen time, we've gotten or are getting figures that have been on screen during the Animated series a lot less than Omega Supreme, and *they've* gotten figures.

Maybe they're keeping it secret for now, and just keep saying "no, stop asking!" because they're trying to be hush-hush.

Same here. Ever since I watched the episode where Omega Supreme made his appearance, I've been hoping almost everyday that he'd be announced as a voyager or Supreme class. At this rate, I'd even settle for a deluxe version since he's not going to be in scale with any other animated figs, even at the largest possible class.
