When we saw Masterpiece Trailbreaker, we knew we'd be getting a Hoist eventually. And while there were some early 3d mockups online, only now do we have a full reveal of the toy. We can see all the accessories he comes with, which includes an extra faceplate to represent the look he had in the show without the cheek guards. There is also the alien face so that your MP Sunstreaker won't be looking goofy alone, finally. Plus we have a big claw arm too for his back and it looks like his arms extend.

You can see the images below, we'll let you know when we have an idea of the price and when it's available to preorder in Japan and the west.

Sure did take them a while to announce him when his release was inevitable. But is it just me, or have the event MP reveals and releases been drastically reduced.

I think the railbots have taken up a lot of Takara's attention.

Then again, I can only imagine the business case for new masterpiece figures getting smaller and smaller.
Many people are enthousiastic about a masterpiece shockwave, but I don't see people lining up for a masterpiece Blurr or masterpiece Chromedome. Especially with the competition from the SS86 series.

Yeah, drastically released for sure. But I think it's because the MP line is now not the main line being collected for an accurate G1 collection.

Looks great, I just wish he had a swappable face between dark gray and silver. I know MPs are based on the cartoon, but as a comic fan I like the silver face better. Still, this might be the 1st MP in a while that I pick up.

I have no idea what you two are talking about, 2022 gave us six new releases and 2023 will be eight (nine if Hoist is our big December 2023 release, but probably 2024) and none of them were duplicate molds for their respective years.

2021 also had six releases, but only 3 molds since that was the year we got the new Seeker and City molds. The third mold was MPM Bee movie Optimus Prime. I will not complain about the lack of excessive minor and unnecessary repaints (aside from our '23 MPMs).

Anyway, while I am no expert with MP, It would make sense that because of the release of the Trainbots, those 6 take up slots that could have been used to release several others. Pre-orders for Kaen MPG-06 should be going up soon. (pics are starting to show up on other forums), and expected release date should be the very end of 2023 (likely the very last Saturday December 30th). Most people who order on Pulse, or other 3P sites wont get it until Q1 2024, but via Amazon Japan, I'm very much hoping to have Raiden completed by the last day of 2023, making that 2 year journey completed.

Yet another argument for not doing Masterpiece Combiners. I think the Generations format serves them the best. MP Combiners just take too much time, and space away from other characters. I mean I am actually enjoying the Trainbots, but its only because I really dont see any prospects of getting Generations versions any time soon. Were that to happen, I'd sell my MPG's in a heartbeat.

Maybe something less complicated like Road Caesar, but generally speaking, there are so many top tier, and 2nd tier characters that haven't received the MP treatment yet, its hard to make a case for combiners, with the added commitment to time and expense.

does mp hoist share any parts with mp trailbreaker because to me they look drastically different other than having similar vehicles

I don't believe they share any parts, they both have different ways of changing each section so I don't believe there's any way they could.

Just noticed his doors. Oof, not good, even the original toy didn't leave big gaps in the roof for the shoulders to go. They could have done something better with that. Third party kit to the rescue I guess. Also a little embarrassing that the photographer forgot to flip out the mirrors, you don't see mistransformations like that very often from Takara.

It's a shame they made his animation model toy accurate instead of stylizing it like Trailbreaker. I really wish he could at least have a waist so he could be more similar to his mold-mate, like they did with his Earthrise toy. His legs just look like they were pegged in and couldn't possibly have waist and thigh rotation.

I am surprised at how little he seems to share with Trailbreaker. Impressive amount of new work in this guy

Only slight niggle I have is the poor looking side stripe being mostly black with a few striped, pretty poor effort but could be fixed should any 3rd poarty labels come out I guess. The mummy arms do look wierdly long in one pic in particular, not sure why they chose the tube arm over smooth.

Will get when when it comes to the UK, or even US, even if I have to pay shipping. Definetly will go in the Hoist collection.
