ehh... Hugo's monotone voice goes well with megatron's personality. Smooth asnd under control. never let them see you sweat.
Welker only seems perfect for megatron because it's all we know when we think of G1.
This movie will be as good as any cartoon or TF movie we have seen. Doin't expect an epic because hell nothing fromTF has ever been epic. good at best.

This is both an insult to Frank and to the fans. If I was Frank I would have told them to go pound sand. They pussied out and got a Hollywood bigwig instead of the real talent of Frank.
This does nothing but insult him and us while they nod their little Hollywood assheads to appease us. This movie is so being handled wrong it isn't even funny any more. It'll make loads of cash as all the Geeks rush out to see it and then realize it could have been 10 times better.
More Michael Bay crap, thanks. Maybe if the guy had 1, even 1 decent picture under his belt this kind of crap could be overlooked. But since all he's made are explosive, predictable, badly written movies IMO, he's only dragging us down.
Make no mistake, they only gave us Peter Cullen as an appeasement too, it's been well said Michael would have probably gone with a Hollywood hosehead instead. Just like he did with Megs. I mean, it's bad enough Megs only has a half dozen lines or so, now they screw us on the voice. Yeah, thanks Michael Bay.
Edit*** Yeah I think the movies gonna suck.

I would have rather had megatron voiced from frank, but for the longest amount of time after lata died, i always thought welker would do a good job voicing starscream. For some reason i now think that may be exactly what will happen. Hell he might even be able to imitate lata better than we think. I'm still alittle flustered that we got weaving as Megatron (considering I personally can't stand weaving's acting and voice acting) but if this business with welker voicing as an another character(s), then bring it on!

Honestly, I can't stand it when known actors do animated voices. It doesn't matter what the character looks like, I always picture the physical features of the actor. It makes the movie seem awkward, like something is out of place, IMO. I think I'd rather have a nobody "plucked right off the street" than Hugo Weaving.

Sounds like something out that Robot Chicken Sci-Fi convention sketch: "I heard Frank Welker will guest star in the Transformers movie... but not as Megatron!"

I am curious why anyone would suggest Frank Welker to play Ironhide when that role should be reserved for Peter Cullen. Wouldn't that be classic to have him play Prime and Ironhide like he has before?
Anyway, I put my money on Starscream...If Welker can't do the lead Decepticon, let him do the second in command that's if Starscream is still the second in command in this movie like he was in the original G1. At least I'm sure it was SS and not Soundwave...right?

With Barricade out, I'm going with Frenzy - who will probably have some weird monster voice, which Welker is good at.

I want to see him as Ironhide and/or Ratchet, if he's not going to be Megatron.
I can't see the original Meg's voice coming out of the new Megs design anyway.

Weaving and Frank Welker, who voiced the cartoon version, have been in 'rumoured competition' for the role for a few months and now it seems the Aussie actor won out.
Never fear though cartoon fans, Welker will apparently voice a robot in the film anyhow - but not Megatron.
If true, this is great news! In addition to being a great nod to the fans, adding the most prolific voice actor in the business today to the cast is a great move!
I for one AM NOT HAPPY with this..
F%*K Agent Smith.. FRANK WELKER is the ONLY MEGATRON!
everyone else is just a bad rip off of Frank.. but the powers that be at the studio want STAR POWER in this movie.. they could care less what the fans want.
yea so what if frank is doing some bit part voice.. he always does that.. they got Peter Cullen for prime they NEED to have Frank welker as Megatron..
THANKS A LOT BAY! you freaking A$$CLOWN!

I see this ending badly for a few reasons. One if he's not given a role we'll riot. Two if he's given a roll we'll right. Hugo Weaving's a great actor, but his voice is dry, flat and boring. If Frank gets a roll other then Megatron that he made famous I see all of us collectively snapping like twigs.

Thanks to Shawn H. for pointing new information that was discovered in regards to the Sector Seven website. He decided to look over an older email, the one before the Hugo Weaving reveal, in regards to Agent X.
From the email, he noticed a curious phrase "This ws a dangerous time for us. We do not want to go back to the Ebucehtd Nif scenario." He also noticed that the email is indicated to come from Agent Powers but try to reply and it goes to Dr. Howard.
So from this, he realized that there existed a website ebucehtdnif.ws. Also that the phrase is "Find the cube" backwards. Going to the site brings a blank page but look carefully and you will find a tiny Sector Seven cube logo. Find the cube 7 times and it will bring you a page that reveals The Seven, the original founders of the Sector Seven organization and an email address 317526-AE0@sectorseven.org, an address that is clickable which makes me think that sending a correct word or phrase in the subject will initiate a automatic response that will reveal more information. Shawn proposes the initials of the Seven names might be important.
From find the cube site:
The First Seven hid the past to protect the future.
Stanford Julius Morehouse
Edgar Thibedeau Westfield
Neville Octavian Brewster
Percy Emerson Whitting
Wallace Wilson Clairmont
Alistair Jennings Crowther
Vance Milhaus Lawson
The site also has an interesting sound file that plays on the 6th cube, at least sometimes. The clicks and whatnot I think are a hint for those that keep up with space missions so that may indicate why it might sound familiar even if doesn't make sense. Well, if click here, you can hear the sound file in reverse. Its says "Houston uh Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed...." This is from the 1969 first landing on the moon with Neil Armstrong. The relevance of this sound file to the entire story is not known.
The hide the past is referring to hiding the discovery of Megatron. I did send a test email with the phrase "The Seven" in the subject, but no response received. I am also thinking that sending these emails will help them add entries to their database so can send you future info from "Agent X" and other advertisements once the Transformers campaign ends, so just be aware of that possibility. For giggles I tried a Google search on the above names but only other TF sites came up.
In addition to all of the above, it turns out that "Agent X" has a podcast. To subscribe to it via iTunes, click here. To find using other podcasts tools, the name of the cast seems to be "Sector 7 must be stopped". Now if that phrase makes you automatically want to complete it with "no matter the cost." a) You are a true transfan and b) it may be intentional. Its possible that "Agent X" is Optimus Prime since playing around with the pitch in the 4 currently released podcasts sure do sound like him.
Click here to go to a website that has the four podcasts along with the alterations in pitch. I also agree that sounds like Peter Cullen not quite doing the Optimus Prime voice.
As for the podcasts, the first 3 are more just warnings that the Decepticons are coming and Sector Seven is hiding this preventing the human race from being ready. The most recent cast X4 is interesting as it describes a leak in 1982 thats leads to the Transformers toy line and ends with "look to Takara, it is truth masquerading as fiction." Takara is the Japanese toy company that original created the Transformers and continues to release the toys there today in partnership with Hasbro.
There you go, turns out the Sector Seven mystery is deeper and more spread out then thought. Should be an interesting search on the net to find out more information including the importance of the First Seven and the moon landings in the over movie Transformers story.
In regards to the intials bit they are SJMETWNOBPEWWWCAJCVML. Notice that the current Sector Seven password NBETWO is part of the collection as is "www" and "seven". This makes me think its possibly an anagram for a website.

I am soooo sick and God damned tired of hearing some whiny assed little bitch come on here, every single time the smallest scrap of movie news is released and start screaming about what the fans want.
The fans couldn't even bring in 2 million dollars for this picture. Could somebody explain exactly why the studio should listen to us? Especially when the vast majority want to jump up and down and act like a bitch?
Oh, and for your information, I'm a fan, and I sure as hell didn't want Welker to be Megatron. What about that?

Good news anyway, I'm fine with Hugo as megs. I think Welker will play one of the Autobots.
Now if they do a sequel and Soundwave is in it then Welker had better at least get that role

Alot of people who cannot remove themselves from the 80s here... as much as I love Welker's Megatron and Latta's Cobra Commander, neither are impossing, a smoker and a commedian.
To be honest, seeing the new Megs, Welker most likely would not have done G1 Megatron, as it does not fit, it has a differant personality and damned ugly.
To clarify this, those who have seen parts of the movie have said that Cullen played Prime differantly than G1, who is also very differant to G1.
And if you don't like that, how about... "**** happens"

I think Hugo will bring kind of a laid back Beast Machines Megatron feel to this role, and that won't be bad.
Still Welker as a random bot, it just isn't sitting right.

I like Hugo, and I'm curious who Welker will play, I'm sure both of them will do a hell of a job! For those who think Welker is the only Megatron, well he is, but give it a chance. True, I did want Welker as Megatron, but I'm open to this new movie and new voices. These new designs, some fit with the orginal, others kinda don't. Besides, who knows what the future will bring. Until then, my vote is Welker will do Starscream, that would be fun!
