Commander Keen AND Minecraft. This is the single greatest thread of the entire forum.

Now all I can do wait to get the money, and in the mean time, draw up plans to build the Geofront from Evangelion. Also Ganondorf's tower from Ocarina of Time. And some kind of floating palace.
Your friendly neighborhood alphanumeric friend to the rescue! Go to
http://www.minecraft.net/ and you'll see an orange "BUY NOW" button on the right. Under it, you'll find a link to the "free, but outdated" Minecraft Classic. You can play it for free, right in your browser if you want. Unfortunately, it requires Java, but you'll be able to deal with it.
Minecraft [PC]:So my buddy and I cleared out an entrance to the new island we're colonizing so it can easily be reached by boat. Just grab a boat from Dock 16 (the harbour of Vault 1337), sail past the hotel, underwater base affectionately known as Rapture, castle with lava flows pouring out from under the library at the top and guarded by a wolf, the Tree Mile Island communal wood farm, and keep heading towards the twin lighthouses, dock at the beach, and follow the boardwalk.
We're building the Half-Life 2 Citadel out of Stone, which means we need a crap-ton of Stone. To make Stone, we need to use Cobblestone, which is abundant, but we just need a lot of it. And to turn Cobblestone into Stone, you need to smelt it in a Furnace with Charcoal (which you make from wood) or Coal (which you find while mining).
My friend made us a fancy "kitchen" with a bunch of Furnaces and since I was playing as a Chell skin (the female protagonist of Portal), I got stuck on kitchen duty. (There WAS a cake, though, and it gave us health.)
The Citadel is on an island (or at least a landmass) that is out of the way from our friends' town and completely unexplored, so we're having a lot of fun venturing out of the Citadel and poking around.
There are a lot of trees to the east of the Citadel, so while exploring, I climbed to the top of one and took a look around:

It was a bonding experience, my friend and I both marvelling via mic at the pixelated beauty of the land that stretched before us, as far as the eye can see. Since it's near the Citadel, we're calling this area the White Forest. There's an ominous mountain I want to dub "Nova Prospekt," but it will take some exploring first in order to ascertain just how sinister it really is.
TL;DR, EFF YEAH, MINECRAFT. I'm also working on a Creeper costume for the next Montreal Comic Con.
