Smaller library, shorter battery life, higher price tag...there's a lot of reasons.
Cormaster628 wrote:Super Mario 64 DS: Great game, but the lack of an analog stick eventually caused me to give up on it. Parts I was able to easily beat on the N64 were damn near impossible using the D-pad, and the "virtual stick" just doens't work right!
New Super Mario Bros: Awesome game, but way too short. Honestly its really just a watered down Super Mario World, with much better graphics.
Star Fox Command: Another game thats just way too short and way to simple. I was expecting more of the mission based style game from the N64 and SNES
Sonic Rush: Really a pretty awesome game, just found out after I got it I'm over the old Sonic gameplay, and in fact, Its a lot harder than I remember!
Guitar Hero On Tour/ Guitar Hero on Tour: Decades: Both were awesome but the storage space issue came into play no doubt, as playing the same 25 songs on each game gets old quick. After beating both on Easy and Medium and finding out there were no more songs to unlock, I had no desire to play through hard or Expert.
Phanton Hourglass: Probably easily the best game on the DS, but the redudent trips to the gawd awful "Temple of the Ocean King" caused me to quit playing it half way through. I have no problem with figuring out the Zelda puzzles but putting a time limit on it sucks! Hopefully the Big N won't do something so stupid in the next DS Zelda!
Mario Kart: Fun game but its the same old game I've been playing for years since 1992 or whenever it came out.

I haven't turned on the DS in about a year. A YEAR. Why? It has no games worth playing. Sure, it has a few that are fun: Starfox Command, TFA, etc.

You know, I think I have to expand on your list. It looks like there's a lot missing.
The Ace Attorney series <--- never heard of it
Chrono Trigger <-- maybe some day when I have time for an RPG
Final Fantasy IV <--- see up above
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword <-- Ninja Gaiden is too hard to be fun
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow <--- Never been into Castlevania
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin <--- see above
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia <---- see above
Contra <---- believe it or not I never played contra much growing up
MegaMan ZX <--- if its anything like the classic megamans, too hard to be fun.
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum <--- pokemon... exactly what's wrong with the DS!

Now thats some win.

It's a good series. More like a book than a game but somehow out of that it still proved to be very fun.Cormaster628 wrote:Shadowman wrote:Chrono Trigger <-- maybe some day when I have time for an RPG

Wait, if you don't have time for RPGs, how do you have time for games in general? It's not like an RPG eats more time than any other game.Cormaster628 wrote:Shadowman wrote:Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword <-- Ninja Gaiden is too hard to be fun
Dragon Sword is much, much easier.Cormaster628 wrote:Shadowman wrote:Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow <--- Never been into Castlevania

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia <---- see above
Now that just doesn't make any sense at all.Cormaster628 wrote:Shadowman wrote:Contra <---- believe it or not I never played contra much growing up
Neither was I. It was hard, but it was still fun.Cormaster628 wrote:Shadowman wrote:MegaMan ZX <--- if its anything like the classic megamans, too hard to be fun.
It isn't in several ways. And it's not nearly as hard.Cormaster628 wrote:Shadowman wrote:Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum <--- pokemon... exactly what's wrong with the DS!
How so? Pokemon is actually a really good RPG, it's the anime that's crap, and even then it's mostly the dub.

Also, Dementium: The Ward. Proof that FPS games can work extremely well on DS.

Cormaster628 wrote:Well I give up. I simply am not enjoying my DS. I take it with me to work every night yet I haven't even powered it on in 3 months. My friends at work have all their pretty PSP's that have widescreens, can play movies, and feature PS2 graphics.
I loved my DS when I first got it, but soon thereafter I ran out of games to buy for it. I really don't know why I just didn't go with the PSP in the first place, probably because I loved the GBA, and I figured it would make sense to get the successor to the GBA, but I was wrong.
Now don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good games on it, that is if you are into RPG's, which at this point in my life I'm not. And the graphics for the most part just flat out suck on the system, but the real kicker for me, is the limited storage space on the gamecards. I think from my understanding the largest amount of storage one can hold is 256MB, in comparison to Sony's 2GB UMD discs. The result is games with poor textures and virtually no audio. Take Grand Theft Auto: China town wars for instance. No liscensed radio stations, and no speech, just subtitles instead. What is this 1999 or 2009?
As for the games I have:
Super Mario 64 DS: Great game, but the lack of an analog stick eventually caused me to give up on it. Parts I was able to easily beat on the N64 were damn near impossible using the D-pad, and the "virtual stick" just doens't work right!

I think where the DS really shines at is Multiplayer, as I'll have a blast when me and my wife play eachother at Mario Party, Guitar Hero, or Mario Kart, however finding people with DS's is becoming increasingly difficult. I will however be keeping it for the occasional good releases, and for those nights when me and my wife stay home.
My wife seems to really enjoy hers, but she has simpler tastes in games than I do. 90% of the DS library is nearly identical to 90% of the Wii library where its just simple gimmicky crap designed to use the touch screen. My wife can get into those games, I can't.
I'm hoping to have my PSP next week. I really can't wait honestly. I'm still torn on what games to get for it, as there are so many good games that are dirt cheap on the system. Probably gonna pick up Siphon Filter and Killzone for it.
