I will often be curious to see the reaction of something, but when the link brings me to page 1 of 60 for some generic, catch all thread and the update I'm interested in is on page 54...Either that or have all news items have their own thread.
Convoy wrote:How about a 'Donate Button' for people who don't like looking at ads all day but still want to support their favorite website?
Y'know, a way to opt out of being unundated by advertisements by paying it forward.
I'm sure this suggestion goes against some of your sponsor directives.
Feel free to ignore.
edit:
You don't know how much I'd pay to do without ads the legit way. I can assure you that it would be at least double what Seibertron was asking for exclusive Devy pics.
This is the only website I allow ads, occasionally I click them. (only to support Seibertron.com)
If I could skip those steps to merely pay you pennies on the dollar, I, for one, would greatly appreciate it and make it worth your while.

Actually if you could not ignore it and give a couple of reasons why it isn't feasible, I'm all ears. I mean, aside from, "too lazy" I'd like to help if I could but without understanding the issues on the admin side of things I'm just plodding around in deep dark megathreads.

Seibertron wrote:This issue has been addressed and the code to display a news post has been updated accordingly per the requests of many. When you click on "View Discussion" in a news topic, it should now take you to the first new post about that topic. In addition, I fixed the bug in the forum posts that display on a news topic's page so now you can jump right to that forum post as well. The bottom link at the end of the forum posts that says "view additional posts ..." will take you to the last forum post that displays on the news topic's page so that you can continue reading the discussion from there.
Example news story: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... ter/32150/
Please let me know if you encounter any bugs with the changes that I made. Thanks.
Kibble wrote:Cool, thanks. I assume this will only work going forward, correct? Was trying to do some testing for ya, but I'm not seeing a lot of news with corresponding megathreads at the moment, and going backwards to try it out it looks like it's still going to pg 1...but I imagine you have to tell the link which post to go to so it makes sense that older news would still behave that way.
Seibertron wrote:This change impacted all news stories that have associated forum topics (so basically everything from the past 7 or 8 years). Can you post some URLs so that I can look into it further? Thanks.
Convoy wrote:P.S. Where do I send my check to be ad free? If you're for real I'm for real.

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Seems like a good enough place for such things.

But a "Kickstarter" technically isn't any of those things on the list. It's just a fund raising program for something on that may or may not be on the list. The key word is "toys". Did a RPG/techno rave CD even belong in THAT category ? Im telling you, if you dont clamp down on these kickstarters, your gonna start seeing posts about everything from pajamas to cell phone cases posted on this section. They'll say, "oh well it features 3rd party characters so it belongs here". You have a chance to nip this at the bud before it becomes a laughing stock like that thread did.
