The packaging is pretty straight forward. Small cardboard box with the actual pieces enclosed in a resealable plastic clamshell. One page printed instructions.

Here are the parts out of package. Though not in the picture a button style battery is included for the LED eyes.

Attaching the upgrade is a little different than I anticipated. I figured it would slip over the seat like the previous upgrade heads, but actually it attaches to nothing it just sits there.

Folding the arms up is what actually holds the upgrade in place. The tires fit right into back of the new torso. Really it's not that secure of a connection, but it will due for display purposes.

Image

Here's an up close of his face. It looks a little goofy in my opinion, but hey so are a lot of G1 faces.

Height comparison with a couple of other G1's. He's still a little short, but this is the best he's looked to date.

All in all I'm happy with these. I have the Ratchet set as well, but considering they're the same outside the forehead crest I didn't take pics of it. I can if anyone wants to see it. It notes in the instructions not the rotate the head 360 degrees. Doing so would tear the wires loose that go from the battery to the led's in the head. Having his original arms in the new position also makes him pretty back heavy, luckily his metal feet do a decent job of keeping him from falling over.

From the front he looks pretty decent but those arms hanging off the back is horrible. I could tell from the picture on the website that they were just hanging back there but man that is some back kibble. Thanks for the pic, I think I shall stay with just the head upgrade.

Wow thank god I didn't order this set. I was so close to getting it. The arms hanging in the back looks bad but his face is horrendous. It looks like a 5 year old used play doh and made it. But If ur happy with it that's all that matters. I'll also stick with the plain old head upgrades

From a distance they don't look too bad, but yeah the old flip up head upgrades actually have better faces.

Looks pretty good... well alot better than what G1 Ironhide used to look like. I wonder if they'll be doing the GreenRatchet/BlackIronhide upgrades too.

Would be a good way for them to get more use out of the molds, possibly finance future products.

How much adjusting did you have to do to counter-balance what looks to be a back-heavy add-on set? I must agree w/ the face plate, it looks unprofessional, comical and childish.

Virtually none, the die cast feet are heavy enough to offset the extra weight in the back.
